Bourbon goes out of their way to create a welcoming environment for solopreneurs and others who want a place to drink good coffee and get some work done. Other coffee shops make it inconvenient or grudgingly allow; Bourbon encourages, and in the process has created a great community resource. 97-cent coffee refills, free Wifi, and they recently redesigned their space to provide more work spaces and power strips. There’s always enough room for all patrons so you don’t worry about taking up needed space. The coffee is great, the sandwiches and yogurt parfaits are yummy, and the staff is always friendly and helpful.

The quintessential old style coffee house: pleasant staff, good coffee, better than average pastries, plenty of nooks and crannies to sit, talk, or study, inviting to stay as long as you like, no glaring led lighting. The way the rooms are divided helps to keep the noise level down to a very acceptable level.

This place is super cozy and the staff is always very helpful. Coffee and Espresso are always great and not too expensive. I tried the«lemon charger» tea once and that was very delicious as well. This is always a great go-to spot if I want to relax by myself or hang out with a friend.

Good coffee! Good staff except one rude supervisor/manager person. Rose petal latte is great if you’re in the mood for something sweet

As a coffee addict, I can’t help going to the cafes like Bourbon café especially since it’s on my way to T(1 – 2 mins away from Porter station). They do great coffee, different sizes: choose which one matches you. My favorite is cappuccino. Personally I think they lack some breakfast options: mostly pre-maid croissants and bagels. They won’t put egg on a breakfast bagel even though this is such a popular choice. Great staff but it takes a while to actually prepare a cup of coffee.

Ordered a hot chocolate(it was delicious). The atmosphere is really relaxed. I stayed there for a few hours and sketched. It was great. Being so close to Lesley university, I assumed it’d be somewhat loud with students but it was quite the opposite. Quiet with some soft music playing. Definitely a place I’ll be visiting again to sit down with a hot beverage and a sketchbook. Great location near the t and great atmosphere.

I don’t go to Lesley University, but I came here because I was in the area and found that this place served matcha lattes, which is very cool since a lot of coffee shops don’t offer tea lattes besides chai. There are lots of students studying here, which gives a very hip, cool kind of atmosphere. The staff are also very nice. I ordered the«matcha monster», which I couldn’t find on the menu(maybe I didn’t look carefully) but I saw it on Unilocal. The flavor was rich, delicious, and creamy. The only thing was that it wasn’t as hot as I expected it to be, and there were some little bits of undissolved matcha powder at the very bottom of my drink, but I would still come back and get another again. Matcha monster is perfect for the winter time and keeps you answers your fix for something strong when you don’t feel like coffee :)

Fair trade coffee, excellent cappuccinos and delicious pastries and cakes. Big comfy couches for chatting and lots of tables for screenplay writing. Chill music, cool staff, wifi, parking(on street and at Porter Shopping Ctr). Can’t get better than this.

Really love them for the size options(4 options ranging from 8oz-20oz), milk options(milk, soy and almond) and overall beverage choices. I love their spicy chai latte. Great combination between sweet and spice of chai.(As compared to Starbucks options, their chais in my opinion are overly spicy in that«I steeped my tea too long» kind of way.) Staff are also incredibly knowledgable on their beverages and actually have an opinion on what to get(compared to other places responses«everything is good.») great place in my book!

OK, so it’s not your typical«local coffee shop» — they have branches in DC and one here in Cambridge. But check it — the coffee is fair trade, fresh, and free of almost all of the bitter, nasty grossness you get at the Dreaded Dunks, their baked goods are excellent, and sandwiches are made in house. Pro tip: for the perfect intersection of savory and sweet, get a Maple Bacon Scone. I put that in caps, like you would God or perhaps Prince. It is Important that you Eat That Food Item. Service is brisk and often amusing, as the folks behind the counter frequently get high on their own supply. Prices are competitive, there’s wifi, comfy seating, and it’s in a great location. This was a great coffee shop to sit in a cozy chair and read for an hour. I ordered the Bourbon Banana shake $ 4.75: espresso, chocolate, banana. It was delicious but very rich, took me a LONG time to finish it. I thought the AC was a bit high for 9 am, it was definitely chilly in there. It has LOTS of seating, some nice comfy couches with coffee tables, two outdoor tables, and then like 5 long tables inside the restaurant, so lots of people can sit here and do work.

Creative options, quieter than the Panera down the street, and I adore the Macademia Nut Mocha. Also, generally friendly staff: the guy behind the counter told me I was welcome to come get more hot water for my pot of tea — not something that cost them anything(except my chair for another half an hour) but I would never have thought to ask! (The wifi is seriously spotty, but I appreciate that they got rid of the time limits!)

This place has some good things and some not so great things going for it. First, it’s a GREAT place to camp out and do work for a few hours. There’s lots of seating, a chill environment, good number of outlets, and you don’t feel like you are taking up space if you are studying/working. The coffees are also quite good, and I’m a fan. However, negative things: The wifi can be pretty spotty at times, so it’s not totally reliable. In addition, the sandwiches are not good. I ordered a sandwich and it was expensive($ 9 or more) and came out cold! It wasn’t even properly heated, and made me feel a little sick/made my stomach churn because it wasn’t properly done. Not a fan of their food items here, so I would stick to coffee.

Great spot in the Porter neighborhood. Relaxing, friendly service, apparently lots of students on their laptops and a chill environment. Plenty of seating to go around. The cappuccino was filling and frothy and the coconut layered bar was really yummy — chewy, gooey, heavenly and all that jazz. They have some sort of alt-rock music going on as well. I’d come back if I visit Boston again and stay at my friends place in Porter where he has to leave town for work and I roam around the city like a lonely tourist.

I’m a recent convert to this joint. I generally like coffee shops with more of a distinctive and homey atmosphere than Bourbon offers, but three factors overcome my reservations. In order of importance, they are– 1. The coffee is really, really good. They serve ethically procured African coffees that are superb. You don’t have to get a fancy drink– just the plain ol’ coffee is off the hook. 2. The seating area is spacious and comfortable. 3. There are lots of outlets and free wi-fi– great for holing up and getting work done. I’d give five stars if the food and treats were more remarkable. They are fine, but not mind-altering or anything.

Great brewed coffee and service! A lot of space if you wanted to study and plenty of restaurants inside the plaza if you want to grab a bite too! Two restrooms inside and plenty of seating if you want to bring your laptop. I must say though you should come early or else you’ll have to wait for a spot to sit!

Internet is hit or miss. It took me a while to connect and for the first hour, it was terribly slow… but it got better as time went by. I am a latte lover and appreciated the many flavored lattes Bourbon Coffee offered… but I decided to switch it up and try a macadamia nut mocha one time and it was pretty good! I mean. where else can you find a macadamia nut latte? I also love the spicy chai latte here and the honey cinnamon latte. Not a bad place to work or kill time in Porter Square. Venue is spacious, and has lots of varied seating; communal tables, small individual tables, and couches. Some of the seats are close to outlets if you need to plug in. What’s not to love a about a coffee shop with specialty lattes situated in the same building as Café Mami, Sapporo Ramen, and Japonaise Bakery?

One of my favorite places to go for some studying and just to sit for a cup of coffee/drink. Drinks can range around 3 – 5 dollars. I usually get a small and that’s around 3 – 4 dollars. My usual is the hot chocolate with some hazelnut flavor. I love hot chocolate drinks, and its so nice to have some during the cold season like now(Brrrr! lol). So far I have tried… –Rose Petal Latte(Cold) its interesting and good to me, some people think its not good. –Mocha Cappuccino(hot): For a small size its pretty big, I had to share it with someone and I liked how it had a very strong mochaness to it if that makes sense lol! –Monster Matcha(hot): Reminds me of the starbucks green tea latte. I like how once I drank it, i tasted the matchaness from it. After awhile it seemed like the matcha gree less matcha like? Weird… The place can get pretty packed but if you’re not shy, you can share a table with a stranger and have a stranger conversation who knows! The shop does have Belly Points so sign up for that and CHECKIN! You can get cool free things like drinks.

One thing I love about Bourbon is the assortment of specialty drinks they offer! The matcha latte and the rose latte are next on my list :) I ordered a pumpkin pie latte and it was delicious! I love that they offer to give you whipped cream on top. My friend thought it was just average though. My friend’s chai smoothie was pretty gross. I do not recommend it! It’s got an extra kick of spice, but the flavors just don’t go together :/ The café is large, but the place is packed. My friends and I had a hard time finding a place to sit for a while. I don’t recommend going with more than one other person because their tables are pretty small. They provide free wifi here – yay! But it got cut out for me for about an hour. Other than that, no problems. I’d come back only if I was in the area and in a small party.
