Belly Dance by Johara & Snake Dance Theater Company

I have been taking classes and performing with Johara for the last 2 years and it has been a wonderful experience! She has a very unique style of teaching as she has training in not only many styles of bellydance but also other dances, theater and music. While teaching she draws on all these diverse experiences, such as showing you many different ways to do the same move using different muscle groups and exploring different ways of moving. She is also an extremely nice person and really cares about her students — she wants everyone to have the chance to perform and is constantly encouraging people to grow as dancers. Ever since I started studying with her, I have become much better at improvising and have also gained much more body awareness. Whether this is your first bellydance class or are just looking to gain new skills, I highly recommend taking classes with Johara at the Dance Complex.

I was totally mesmerized, the first time I saw Johara perform bellydance at the Dance for World Community in Cambridge, MA! Before seeing her and her elegant troupe of performers, I had never really been exposed to bellydance. So having the fortune of experiencing Johara perform was a memorable foray into the exotic world of bellydance! Look forward to seeing her perform in her next show!
