Covell’s Clydesdale Ranch

Ralph is an incredible man, saving the beautiful land surrounding the quaint town of Cambria. We enjoyed meeting him and seeing the beautiful land and his stunning Clydesdale horses — it truly is a sanctuary. He is so generous with his knowledge and history of this incredible space that has groves and groves of Monterrey Pines. Absolutely enchanting.

What an awesome morning getting a tour of the ranch! We saw many deer, a big flock of turkey and of course the magnificent Clydesdale horses! Call and book a tour of this wonderful place that Mr. Covell has conserved for future generations.

What a fantastic day and tour of the Covell Ranch!
I had the opportunity to tour the Ranch the weekend before Christmas with a group of friends. I was excited to be able to see the Clydesdale horses but really did not know much about what to expect on the tour — I was pleasantly surprised!
We were greeted at the gates to the Ranch by the owner, Ralph and Margaret. Ralph talked to us about the history of the Ranch, it’s Monterey Pine grove, the Ranch’s role in the nature conservancy of the surrounding area and, of course, the Clydesdale horses on the Ranch. Due to the recent rains, we toured the Ranch in 2 vehicles, driving from one scenic location on the Ranch to the other — the views of the surrounding mountains, valleys and ocean views were breath-​taking.
The highlight was arriving at a pasture where the Clydesdales were gathered. They quickly came over to our vehicles and surrounded us. They are grand and beautiful horses with sweet and gentle demeanors. We were able to actually pet some as they came up to the windows. They were glorious and majestic — quite a site! We continued the tour and found another group of Clydesdales high on a hilltop; it was wonderful!
The tour was fun, informative and a great way to spend an afternoon viewing the magnificent natural scenery and getting a chance to learn about and get an up-​close experience with these proud, strong and glorious Clydesdale horses. Ralph and Margaret were wonderful and friendly hosts; made us feel like friends and treated us with open arms during the tour. I would highly recommend the taking a tour of the Covell Ranch if you are anywhere near Cambria and want to spend a few hours like no other! What an experience!

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Covell’s yesterday! The tour with the owner, Ralph, was amazing. We not only got to see some beautiful horses and some amazing views, we also got to learn all about the history of the property.
We did this for my wife’s birthday and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this tour. Ralph was wonderful as our guide. A very nice person.

I had the opportunity to tour the Covell Ranch. Amazing! Ralph Covell took us on a tour of his nearly 2000 acre ranch in Cambria. He shared fascinating information on the indigenous Monterey Pine grove and his passion for his beautiful horses. The conservation efforts for the land and trees is beyond what most people would ever dream of doing. The horses were beautiful and live a life of love and freedom. Ocean views, forest, rock formations and hearing about the ranch history was an opportunity of a lifetime. Definitely a ‘must do’! If you don’t have a bucket list this is a good one to start with.
