We stayed at Sand Pebbles Inn for the first time and loved the place! The hotel is steps away from the water and the sunsets are breathtaking! Our room was clean and spacious, with updated décor and a cozy fireplace. The complimentary breakfast was very convenient and much appreciated! Coffee, tea, and water were available in the lobby daily to enjoy as well. We fell in love with Cambria and can’t wait to return in the future!

My wife and I stayed here for our 10th anniversary. Front desk was polite and very pleasant. The room was beautiful, very clean, and the view was gorgeous. We enjoyed a breathe taking sunset from our room and even took an after dinner moonlit walk down the Moonstone Beach boardwalk. Our stay was memorable and we will definitely return for other special occasions or maybe just a weekend getaway.

This review is for Moonstone Cottages, which is one of the three properties run by Blue Dolphin Inn. We stayed in the Seascape Cottage(the most front one) for 3 nights(Tues-Fri) with our 4-month old. Incredible views, completely unobstructed. If you are uncomfortable with the odd passerby right in front of your place, walking along the road to/from various hotels/inns/Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill(almost literally right next door), then you may feel a little self conscious. However, if you really don’t care(we live in the city so are used to such activity), it’s quite lovely. While the site says«No Children,» they do allow infants, and this cotttage has sufficient space for a travel crib, and all the other stuff that a young baby needs. And his parents. The Seascape is decorated with a sailing theme. Gas fireplace connected to thermostat, bay-like three sided angle windows fronting the front affording views of distant ocean horizon, close crashing cove waves, and medium distance breaking whitewater, including surfers. Robes, slippers, jacuzzi tub(a little bubble bath goes a L-O-N-G way in these puppies) and separate shower. Coffee/tea maker. Small fridge and microwave. Plenty of counter space in the bathroom, perfect for changing the little one. The deck of the Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill is literally within a stone’s throw. The great thing is that board walk deck walking path which fronts all of Moonstone Beach actually dips below some plants for about 30+ yards on each side directly in front of the cottage, so you don’t get any of that distraction or noise. The access point to the boardwalk is below a tree just about 30 yards on the right across the road. Amazing. Definitely get out for a walk in the morning if the sun is out, as you never know when the cloud cover will roll in. Call in your breakfast order before 9pm to the Blue Dolphin Inn. Someone comes and drops it off in a brown paper bag in the fifteen-minute increment of time that you specified. The front of the cottage itself is darling, with a small but extremely well-tended garden. There is a little box with pamphlet brochures about the cottages, which many passersby(mostly the woman of a male/female couple or group) would stop and grab. It became a little trick to see how ballsy some people were, how close they would get, peering inside, etc., especially in light of the tactful sign that clearly states«Do Not Disturb Tenants» posted outside. There are two other cottages in this set. They are more private/shielded and while they don’t have the amazing view that Seascape has, they are further back from the road and foot traffic, so some people might prefer that. And the views are still pretty amazing. HIGHLY recommend. Don’t miss the elephant seals a little further north, as well as Robin’s in downtown Cambria.

Blue Dolphin Inn: This hotel is really top notch. I would think this is a 5 star hotel(except for I don’t know any 5 star hotels that are this small). At $ 169 a night, we got a very good value. The service was excellent. Everyone who works there was nice, courteous, helpful, and really really did their best. The place is new, has a very nice interior, the beds are excellent, you have a fireplace, nice flatpanel TV, DVD player, you can select from their DVD collection free of charge, everything was super clean. Owners: This is truly a great place you have there. If there’s a downside for those who come in the summer, then it’s that there’s no A/C in the rooms. Other than that, I felt you thought of pretty much everything. This is the first hotel in the world I’ve been to that had an awesome hair dryer! Excellent. Keep up the good work!

The Blue Dolphin also operates the Moonstone Cottages. Private one room cottages about 100 yards from the Blue Dolphin. We stayed in the Mariner Cottage. The room is spectacular and a define upgrade. The view from my room at the Moonstone Cottages was unhindered, a view like that would cost a few million dollars in Malibu. The room includes, bathrobes, an LCD Samsung TV a DVD player and a Fireplace.
