Where did the Chef move to? This was such a great menu. I have been away for 3 years and want to find something similar nearby. Thank –You!

See? I was right! The establishment was forced to close because of these and a plethora of other issues.

Food was quite good, service was super super slow. We sat in the bar area for a late lunch, we were one of only two tables and we waited a very long time for our drink orders and then for our food to come out once ordered. Worth it, tho. Everything was tasty — I had the flatbread with prosciutto and arugula and friends had ahi salad and cuban pork sandwich. We shared the calamari which was also pretty tasty. I had a belvedere martini and it was delish! I like the ambiance and will be back soon for dinner.

We were in a large group for lunch. We expected it may take a little longer to get our food. It was a week day at lunch and not crowded. We were very disappointed in how long it took! About 45+ min! That is a long time to wait, especially since we had a reservation for our group of 18. Many restaurants have extra help for a large group… the server wad very helpful but took too long to get our foid. On a good note, the food wad delicious & everyone enjoyed it a lot!

Great spot for brunch ! Bottomless champagne, bloody Marys, mimomas ! The staff is great and friendly. Its clean nice décor should definitely have 4 stars. They also have a full bar and pretty decent happy hour don’t skip on this spot.

Pretty good good and drinks. It’s the service that tends to be a problem. Never consistent. Sometimes good and sometimes bad. As I type this review, I still have yet to be greeted and I’ve been here for about 5 min now.

We were looking for a place to have a relaxing Sunday brunch with a Bloody Mary or mimosa. Not as easy as it sounds. Sunday buffet brunches are becoming rare and more pricey. Most breakfast places are manic, noisy, crowded and rushed. We settled on The French Bulldog. Liked the JJ Brewskys that was there before until it started its downhill spiral. The space is not over crowded or overly noisy and if anything has been slightly improved. I have to say my initial impression is that $ 27. For an omelet or eggs Benedict is pricey. The unlimited drinks does not make the price unjustified or unreasonable though. We started out with a basket of beignets which did have a bit of a greasy taste. I had an omelet with a side of red potato wedges and my wife had eggs Benedict with the potatoes as well. Both of our dishes were very good. No complaints but no wow either. We did have 3 drinks each so the price was reasonable. The bloody Mary’s were pretty bland and served with a small piece of bacon. No vegetable garnish. Had to request pepper, hot sauce and horseradish to doctor some taste to them. The mimosas were not distinguished with fresh squeezed juice or anything. Still looking for a Ventura County Sunday brunch spot. Would give the French Bulldog another shot for lunch or dinner.

Gah! I want the French Bulldog to impress me every time, but it’s just so inconsistent. On our last visit the service was so bad that they ended up cheating themselves out of a larger bill. We would have ordered dessert if we had been offered a dessert menu and it’s likely we would have ordered another drink if anyone had ever checked on us. The best service came from the bus boy who delivered our food instead of the server. If I could have given the tip directly to the bus boy to not be shared with our server, I would have. Food was tasty, but to a dish, oversalted. Salty apps, salty Brussels sprouts, salty, salty, salty. Luckily my dining party is a salt fan, but it was disappointing given how good food has been on prior visits.

I’ll start by saying we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to French Bulldog last Sunday night. We were in town for the weekend and visited several local hotspots, this was our favorite. It wasn’t busy so I can’t comment on how service might be on a Friday or Saturday but our server was very attentive and pleasant. The food was fantastic starting with the Ahi Tartar maybe the best we’ve had(and we eat out often in our home town of Las Vegas). Short ribs were also right up there with the best I’ve had. My wife had a fantastic glass of sauvignon blanc along with her Baby Spinach salad and I enjoyed a few selections from their refreshingly diverse beer offerings ;) Our 17 year old son ordered the New York which was cooked as ordered and of course I sampled, also delicious. I did read a few of the reviews before choosing and nearly skipped the place as a result of some of the negative comments about service, really glad I went with my instinct on this one. Next time we’re in Camarillo I can guarantee we will visit the French Bulldog.

Chef Gael is a genius! His work is art. I’ve had a wide selection of his menu and everything I tried is very delicious making want to come back for more. The smoked salmon is my absolute favorite. Also I strongly suggest the escargot, the carpaccio and beef sliders.

I hate writing poor reviews, I really truly do. But we really tried to love and support you… but alas, we cannot… since every visit has fallen really, really flat. It is obvious that your food may be classy, but your service is amiss. It would be nice if you were going to pay $ 9 soup, $ 12 per martini, $ 15+ burgers and $ 20+ entrees that service would match your prices. The Server says«I’ll be back in a minute…» translates to «I will be back never…» So, after she dropped off stale bread, we never saw her again and left to go to Safire. We will spend our money there from now on. Sorry.

Slowest service. It’s mid-day, few customers, and yet the servers don’t look up to see if their now unhappy guests need service. No one serviced me or even brought menus after I sat down at the table, and now it’s been 30 minutes and i’m just waiting for the check so I can get back to work in time. Not recommended for a lunch break. Hopefully one day I’ll give it another try and have a better experience.

I like the French Bulldog, I do not love the French Bulldog. Unfortunately, I went during their first month for brunch and I was not impressed. But because that’s a bad time to judge a restaurant I will give it another try for brunch. They offer a great happy hour, though I’ve never made it because it has been impossible to find parking at that time. I do recommend their gumbo and they have a fine wine list. I look forward to visiting again to get a better impression and possibly move them up to four stars, if necessary.

Went to this place on a week-day at lunch for a co-workers birthday. Had previously looked at their website and was excited about some of the unique items from the menu. The décor was really nice. Looked like it could be fun place to come at night, but I will never find out because I will never return to this place. The service was very bad. Even though we were the only table seated in the whole place. Asked for iced tea, never got it. Food came out extremely slowly. I ordered the Cuban style sandwich, it came on a bun you would expect from McDonalds. Tasted OK, but not for the price. Had to flag down a server to get our check. After looking at Unilocal,I see there are similar reviews about the service. I wish I would’ve checked before going.

Service was amazing, prompt, attentive and personal. Ordered the mixed green salad, ground tuna burger and my hubby ordered the ahi wrap with sweet potato fries. Salad was nicely presented, although nothing original. Ground tuna burger was tasty, although the bun was a little greasy. The ahi wrap was ok, not much ahi inside. The fries were lightly battered and plentiful. Menu is limited for vegetarian options. Atmosphere is more like a nite place, lots of tables, dance floor and stage. Would I return? I haven’t decided yet.

I met up with friends for happy hour on a Saturday to celebrate a friend’s belated birthday as well as another friend getting a full ride scholarship to UC Davis :) We were seated at the outdoor patio and it was such a lovely day for it. It accommodated all 9 of us comfortable. The appetizers were delicious, which we had the spinach artichoke dip, garlic pomme frite and calamari steak fritti. The calamari came with a nice red marinara sauce that paired with it well. The garlic fries were very thin and the spinach artichoke dip was creamy. The dranks were good too. I tried the 805 beer for the first time and it was smooth. I ordered a mojito afterwards and damn, that was a strong one! Service was A-OK because it was hard to flag down a server when we’re in the patio area and a few ordered dranks took a while to come out as well. Overall, the happy hour here is pretty pricey for food but I think the drinks are worth it :)

3.5 stars, but bumping it up to 4 because the Arrogant Bastard was the prefect temperature and the glass was so clean that the beer foam did that thing where it sticks to the glass in little descending circles.(THAT’S HOWYOUPOURBEER, DRAUGHTS in T.O.!!) I don’t mean to digress, but the owners of Draughts have all these excuses why their beer is served at room temperature. WHATEV! Ok, back to French Bulldog. It was our waitress’s first night. She was very cute, and while it took way too long to get our first beer, I have no idea if that was her fault, and it didn’t really affect our experience. My husband had the Kobe burger and fries and LOVED it. Ate every bite. The meat was tender and perfect. He liked everything about it from the bun to the blue cheese. 5 stars on the burger. I had the Pizza Napolitano and it was very good. The crust could have been just a tiny bit crispier, and it had a LOT of goat cheese, which is fine, because I love it, but it might have been a bit much for some people. LOVE the free Wi-Fi! That’s always a huge plus for me. We’ll definitely go here again due to the proximity to the train station. Glad we finally checked it out.

If you’re in Camarillo and u don’t know where to go for a brunch, dinner and late night drinks just go to French Bulldog! Service and food are both excellent! Chef Gael prepares dishes that are in season. His specials are never the same. U have a bad hangover… make sure Ur here for their brunch! Their bloody mary is too die for. Their Lobster eggs Benedict is insanely good!

My cousin and I came out here to try something different(plus, driving to Ventura County is always relaxing). We arrived in time for happy hour. My lobster mac & cheese was AMAZING. Slightly salty, über cheesy, and served in a cast iron skillet. Oooh, and while you wait for your food they give you a basket of warm rolls with this garlicky-rosemary-parmesan oil that is… mmmm. What’s not to love? We split an order of beignets with vanilla bean whipped cream for dessert, and those were beyond delicious.(I also managed to leave half of the powdered sugar on the table, but that’s another story.) But here’s the best part: Marty came around to the different tables, including ours, and was just the nicest guy. So nice, in fact, that he graced us with our very own crème brûlée! He made us feel welcome, as did our friendly server. I will definitely make the trek back here in the future!
