Brendan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant

Stopped here for lunch before the holiday drive to Santa Barbara for my bday. Wasn’t crowded… but we arrived here at 11am so… just before lunch rush.
We love the «pub» feel of this place. Our server, Rachel, is so friendly & asked right away about my starter, the tomato bisque. Nice! Very attentive the whole meal… which came out quickly.
Starter: they give you a little bowl of warm, homemade potato chips with a tasty seasoning. Love this! Tomato Bisque: hearty, thick, perfect flavoring. Not bland or too salty, nor is it watery. I got a cup of it but it’s already filling me up!
Whiskey burger: we shared this as it is during their daytime Happy Hour… right?!? A DAYTIME HH! We get ½ off the burgers & we decided to split one so we don’t go into a food coma by noon. We had it done medium… came out perfectly pink in the center! Burger was juicy, fresh, & the BBQ sauce sweet w/​a hint of pepper & a good bit O’whiskey. Soooo good!
We will be eating here often as hubby will be working at the naval base. Such a great find! Been here once before for their brunch and it was an awesome spread!

Food is ok and service is lackluster. I went in one night and there was a fight. Unfortunately it attracts the wrong crowd.

This place was so much fun as it was selected to celebrate my 50^th birthday which was a last minute spontaneous idea my husband came up with. He checked with Discovery and Bombay’s as well because Ventura is limited for great food and dancing within one place. Discovery was very prompt and professional and I got a breakdown on itemized costs and the food sounded good and the place is hip, so we will try them for another party this year however the night of my celebration they had a scheduled Rap band playing and I was not sure how long I could take it tho I love rap music. Bombay’s gave me the impression that a very young person was in charge of events that had little experience because I did not receive the details I needed as I had my own business for many years doing event planning as I am also a Personal Chef so I have high expectations. So we went online to Brendan’s website to inquire specifics. We knew I wanted a unique venue with great food/​drinks and specifically dancing! Nicole Schram, the Events and Communications Director promptly replied with all of my questions via email and telephone. She was amazing and clear and a nice woman as she was patient listening to my desires. She allowed my girlfriend to come in early to decorate and have the drink tickets in hand for our guests which came from Costa Rica and Orange County and Ventura. We first walked in around 6:30 pm on Sat.Jan. 9^th and I was asked if I were the Birthday girl by the General Manager Ed, an extremely polite gentleman who was a first class act. He confirmed a night of fun and informed me the DJ would start playing my request of 70’s, 80’s and today’s music for me around 10:15. Suddenly out of no where a kilted up Irish soul played Happy Birthday to me with his bag pipes! It was awesome. The cozy corner we had were darling copper top tables nestled with great art and Celtic themed designs in dark wood with a warm feeling of dim lights and candles. We even had our own dart board. which was a blast. Drinks were superb, appetizers spot on and dinner delicious! Our guests repeatedly said that Brendan’s was a perfect spot that none of us knew about. We brought in our own cake and the staff was fine with that. Our waitress Desiree was absolutely perfect. She provided excellent service despite all of our numerous requests. She had the homemade potato chips in bowls waiting on the tables as well as a gorgeous smile. To top off the fun, the DJ was phenomenal! He was young and blonde and super talented as he took my old school requests and modernized them to today’s sounds. Me and my friends will be returning on a Saturday night for the dancing alone. Thank you Brendan’s for making my special night so memorable and perfect! I will tell everyone I know there to book their event or to just head out there to hang as it’s a great vibe. Everyone friendly. To top it all off. we received a generous gift card in the mail a few weeks later from Brendan’s as a thank you! Wow. Can’t top that! review helps others learn about great local businesses.

So the only thing I think this bar has going against it is it’s generic and uninteresting selection of beers, besides that this place is great. I do wish they would expand their own custom cocktail menu a bit, but they have great service here (most of the time), and pretty tasty food. The happy hour menu here is excellent. The whisky wings are absolutely delicious and so is the drunken clams. I’d skip on the Irish Nachos if I were you, but that’s just me, I wasn’t a huge fan of them. I found the chips that they come on to be a bit too thin and unsatisfying. They have a decent amount of TVs if you’re coming there to watch the game, but they don’t have a lot to watch a bunch of games like you would at BWW’s or another sports bar. On the weekends at night this place has kind of a dance floor set up going on with a dj sometimes, which is nice. The crowd here around then is mostly young. During the day and weeknights it’s mostly just a bar/​restaurant type feel. I love the decorations though, their tiled ceiling is pretty impressive and there isn’t a spot on the wall that isn’t decorated in some way. This Irish pub almost seems like it belongs in Disney Land for an Irish exhibit. It seems to be newly built for how clean it is but I don’t personally know how long it’s been around. I come here fairly often though and I always have a good time. Definitely recommend!

We are out of town and I wanted something local that we can’t get at home and my boyfriend found this place. We were seated right away and the customer service was great. The happy hour deals are amazing which makes this place very affordable. They have a huge bar with good beers on tap. Pool table and darts also. The menu has burgers, salads, sandwiches and authentic Irish food including corned beef and cabbage, shepherds pie, fish and chips, etc. I got the blarney burger and my bf got the blue cheese burger. The food was great! Our server Jessica was super friendly and very attentive. I wish we lived closer so I could try the adult grilled cheese.

The fish and chips is great! I have their Irish Tea, boy that was kicking my butt. it was the second time I had gone there and never been disappointed

Honestly my burger is ALWAYS overlooked and the bread is a little dry. The drinks are good to go but the food could be better. I love a good pub with drinks and burgers and I think they need to give a bit more attention to detail in the burger department.

Go somewhere else to enjoy the game, worst bartender. Came in to watch the game today and eat lunch and wasnt even acknowledged until 10 minutes after arriving. Not even a «hi ill be right with you.» Ended up leaving to eat somewhere else hands down worst service ever.

Spent over 300 and the waitress dressed me down in front of my party for not giving her a big tip. Not only was it disrespectful but lack of class. The manager on duty was cool.

Love venturing out into Cam whenever I’m sent here for work. My friend and I came after we got off around 5pm on a Saturday. It wasn’t crowded and the service was prompt and polite. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage with some onion rings. And man I’m pretty particular about my onion rings. But these just might be the best I’ve ever had! The batter isn’t too thin or thick, it has a great flavor and its severed with their version of ranch with is yum!

Saturday was our first visit for pints & giggles.
We were driving home from Orange County with a car loaded with Thanksgiving leftovers, but decided to drop in. The place has a great vibe, darts, sports programming, and perfectly poured Guinness pints.
Despite the drunk dude/​barfly who directed «f— you» at me twice, we had a pretty good time. My legendary patience allowed him the opportunity to wisely move along to another seat. =))

They have a DJ Saturday nights. The drinks are decently priced. Come play pool or darts.

We went for a late lunch and were greeted immediately. We had quick service but not super warm and fuzzy. Good food and drinks. The décor is really above and beyond and is worth the trip even if you just have a drink and look around! We will definitely be returning!

This is pretty cool Irish Pub and Grill. It’s not Just a fun bar but a large restaurant as well. I would totally come here just for the food. The lunch and happy specials are a great deal. The whole place is really decorated and a piece of Ireland. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. There is plenty of parking as well.
I got the whiskey sauce wings and they are good. Definitely sweet so be warned lol. They serve chips with a lots of dishes. I also got the chicken curry which was Eh and I would skip; as well as the potato leak soup which was nothing more then a potato purée with little taste. The Ruben was at best average.

Absolutely THE WORSE bar/​pub/​lounge experience I’ve ever experienced. If I could give no stars for their rating I would. As for the restaurant times It didn’t really impress me, I’ve only eaten there once and it was mediocre.
My group of about 15 ppl went there to celebrate my brothers birthday on 11.07.2015. We first went to BJs to eat and came here afterwards for pool and to celebrate his birthday for the night. We got there at around 11 and right when I walked to the bar I knew it was going to be the worse service possible. There were only 2 bartenders 1 blonde and 1 brunette (both female idk if that matters). The blonde was very nice, as for the brunette EXTREMELY RUDE. walked passed us plenty of times did not even take our order; however when her friend justin walked right up there she already knew exactly what he wanted. He got his drinks fairly fast.
Night goes on DJ is nothing above good. We requested about 3 songs and he did not play one song until about 45 min– to and hour later. Fast forward through the night we are sitting down waiting for our ride home. The «manager» that night decides to take a drink (that my friend had left because he was on his phone calling a ride) and discard of it. When asked why he did that he simply said «Oh I thought you were finished» did not offer a refund or an apology.
Then he starts getting loud forces the rest of my party out of the door where he snatches a drink out of my mothers hand. My party asks why it was snatched and he says he felt «threatened» by her. Mind you she is a 5’0 barely hitting 100 lbs!!! Big man gets threatend by a tiny woman LOL. I go back inside to ask the brunette bartender for her manager. She claims the manager was the man who snatched the drink from my mothers hand. MIND BLOWN!!! I tell her what he did was very unprofessional.
I asked for a corporate or any number I can call regarding this manner and she says there is no number or no corporate. Already had the worse attitude when we first got there and while I spoke to her about this incident shes just talking down belittling me as if she forgot me and my whole party were paying customers. I ask her for her managers name who snatched the drink she does not give it to me. SHOCKED. I ask her for her name and she still does not give it to me! At this point I give up i was not about to waste anymore time in this sorry sorry terrible customer service establishment.
DO NOT GO HERE AND WASTE MONEY.

Authentic Irish food is delicious the atmosphere is fun and the staff is very friendly. The trio dish is great and they serve homemade chips upon arrival. We’ve been for both happy hour and dinner, and left happy and full each time. It’s a very welcoming place where everyone seems to become friends with a just a simple smile. Great place to play pool, just unwind at the bar or get comfy in their private booths. Not to mention the Irish memorabilia and décor really adds to the ambiance.

I was walking into Brendan’s at 10:50pm on Thursday night and was ‘greeted’ by a big, bald dude (bouncer) at the hostess station:
«I already did last call… I already kicked everyone out.»
His words verbatim… He wasn’t even nice about it – no quick «Hi» or «Hello»… no «Thanks for coming in» — not even a «Sorry,» BEFORE his dismissal, «I already did last call…»
He may as well just said, «GO AWAY. Leave. I want to close and go home on time tonight.»
So, this is all I know/​learned — and am sharing — about Brendan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant:
*** When Brendan’s posted closing time is 12am midnight, and a customer comes waltzing in at 10:50pm, Brendan’s makes certain the customer KNOWS what an inconvenience she is; she’s got nerve — walking into their business establishment, a mere 1hr and 10 minutes before closing…***
Here, in my REVIEW of BRENDAN’S IRISH PUB & RESTAURANT, I offer this feedback: When you work in the service industry, your job is to **PRETEND** you appreciate the CUSTOMER.

This has been a regular birthday spot for me and my family. There’s usually about 20 of us here on average during these events. Wait staff are awesome, service has always been really good.
Unfortunately everyone was dissapointed in my party this visit… the menu changed!!! The things we’ve loved about coming here are no longer here. No ribeye, pot pie’s of any sort. The potato skins are a lot smaller (smh). Looked forward to those warm chips while we wait and they are cold and no seasoning! (why is this happening). We’ve unanimously decided not to return after this evening. We’re sad :(

I went a while ago on two different occasions and both times the service was poor. The food is nothing special and the price point isn’t worth a third try. I literally live around the corner but I think it’s more of a bar hangout than a restaurant. I don’t recommend eating there.

Last night I took the wife and kids here and we all left happy. My wife who is British tried this place a few years ago and has been raving about how good the curry was ever since. When you are British, that automatically makes you a curry connoisseur and after she hyped up this curry, I have to say, when I tried a sample, it far exceeded my expectations! I had the steak and mushrooms pie and again my taste buds were singing hallelujah. The kids had fish and chip and had no complaints. I’ve been to Ireland a few times and all the deco and Irish antiques on the wall made me feel like I was back in Ireland. The people here are friendly and the service was great. I have to give this place 5 stars fo show.
