I was there working. I can just say I loved it, so much energy, support, and love!

Such an awesome race event for a great cause. The charity race benefits the Autism Society Ventura County and they host a 5K, 10K, 15K(10K + 5K), a fun K for the kids and even a virtual race! My dental office team and I participated in this year’s race and it was such a well-organized and fun event. Parking was easy if you were an early bird and finding the bell tower starting line at the center of CSUCI was cake. Only difficult part was rounding up our troops lol We ran the 5K and it was pretty rigorous for me since I honestly haven’t been working out hah. Surprisingly, my best time of all my 5K races was this course where it took you down to the backroads, to the parking lot and back to the grassy area of the campus. At the end, you receive your puzzle piece medal representing autism awareness, a plate of pancakes, orange slices, bananas, mini cliff bars, waters, you name it. Loved the theme of «A Hero in You» because a lot of the participants dressed up in superhero themed apparel. Lots of booths to check out and DJ music playing in the background. If you happen to have cash on you, the Shave It booth was out selling $ 5 shaved ice but I’m all about the free Starbucks and goodies lol

First of all, this run is for a GREAT cause… how could you go wrong… There were options for 5k and 10k trail run, there was even a kids fun run. This race was really fun and beautiful. It is relatively small, but considering its only the second year they’ve held this race, it was really well organized and supported. All races are chip timed and the course goes through the beautiful campus of Cal State Channel Islands, There were definitely inclines, but I wouldn’t say it was a particularly«hilly» course. There were times when the route narrowed as you were hitting people running in both directions, however this was overshadowed by the amount of fans with funny and inspiring signs and enthusiastic volunteers handing out water. The kids fun run was led by a masked alligator and kids of all ages and abilities participated. My little one, LOVED it. SWAG and goodies: We recieved an beautiful puzzle piece medal that connects to the previous years medal as well as a reusable bag and soft cotton tee. Starbucks was there giving free iced and hot coffee. The post races goodies were some of the best I’ve seen: bagels, oranges, bananas, peanut butter, fruit cups, veggie chips, water, easter bunny sugar cookies, raisins and probably more stuff that I didn’t notice. There games and some inflatables, photo booth and were many booths with info regarding Autism. The CHP was even there doing free kids IDs. Shave it and the In N Out truck were selling food with the profits going to the charity. Overall this was one of the BEST races I’ve done and its for a worthy cause, which makes it that much better. I will definitely be running this race again and look forward to improving my time.
