It’s pretty cool. There are models of jets and can learn about WWII and there are not always many people there.

Really COOL place! The park is on the small side, But has information on the two planes a tomcat f-14a and a-6e. the planes are really great to look at and the park is really nice. great place to hang out especially if you are a top gun pilot at heart.

This is a small memorial park right outside the grounds of Calverton Airport. Many may not know that this was the site of the Grumman factory which was in operation until 1998. This is where lots of our fighter aircraft were built and test flown, including the F-14 Tomcat(remember Top Gun anyone?). It’s sad that not many people realize the incredible history of all that went on right here on Long Island. Today it’s all Starbucks and shopping malls. Pure surburbia. But back in the day there were dozens of airports, Air Force bases and aircraft factories. It must have really been an incredible time. At the memorial park is an F-14 Tomcat — the 331st one off the line in fact, as well as an A-6 Intruder. There are numerous plaques as well as audio recordings detailing some of the history of the site. If you find yourself out this way, whether or not you’re a history or aviation buff, just stop here for a bit and check it out. It’s really cool!
