We came with some hesitation, thinking that it might be crazy-busy on Valentine’s Day, and it was, and yet our waiter and other staff were great, and clearly everyone was working hard to deal with the crowds brought in by the stunning weather! There was a lively, friendly ambiance, with a good mix of locals and visitors, families, and couples. We thought it had a great feel, and then we were completely delighted when it turned out the food was as good as it was! I had the grilled salmon with vegetables and it was fantastic. Very fresh, flavorful, and most importantly, letting the ingredients speak for themselves. My sister and mother loved their salads, and the crisp we had for dessert was once again a paragon of delicious simplicity. It takes an assured chef to produce meals that are based in thoughtful preparation rather than meaningless garnishes or over-spiced sauces, as we encountered at other(more expensive) locations in the area. This promises to be a place we will happily return to!

Was literally one of the worst dining experiences we have had. Took an hour and a half to get our food and the waiter rarely even acknowledged us. He even walked away while we were mid-sentence in our order. By the time we even got our food it was apparent it had been sitting for some time and was only marginal in flavor. Very disappointed as we had high hopes from the past reviews. Sorry to say we will not be returning.

My hubs and I were able to get a last minute reservation here for 5:30pm and we were happy because it’s Valentines Day and we figured everything would be booked. We decided to sit outside since the weather was so nice. Well. It took an hour to get our meal and another hour after to get the check. We had asked about dessert and the waiter said he was going to get us the menu but he never came back. When we finally got the check, I told my husband not to wait and just hand the waiter his card otherwise we’d be waiting even longer. The waiter was super nice, don’t get me wrong, but he seemed a bit overwhelmed. Plus side, we sampled some Chardonnays and ended up getting a bottle, which we really enjoyed. The winter salad was great too. Maybe if we’re able to visit again, we will be able to come on a less busy day and really enjoy ourselves.

I love this place. Consistently great food, hard-working and pleasant staff, and lovely atmosphere. We had a great meal tonight, on Valentine’s Day. Delicious salads, entrees, desserts and drinks. Sat inside, which is cozy and decorated quaintly. We’ve also enjoyed patio dining in the past. Highly recommend you visit for lunch or dinner!

Such a cute restaurant. Went there because a gentleman at Château Montelena recommended it and it was exactly what we were looking for. Charming, not too expensive, interesting and tasteful menu. Will definitely return when in the area. Want to come back in the summer for the patio.

This review is for the restaurant only: We really wanted to like this place because it seemed to receive great reviews. Unfortunately, it was just was average restaurant. The service was great, the atmosphere was nice but the food was just ok. Especially for the Calistoga prices, we thought it would be a little more amazing. The calamari was a bit chewy, the chicken had good flavor but the polenta was pretty pasty. All in all, it was just ok. We will most likely not return here and try somewhere else.

Food Good Service SLOW The food was very good here. We ordered eggs Benedict, and a bacon cheese burger, both were cooked perfectly and had great flavor! Our waiter, Christopher who was also the bartender was very polite and accommodating. 3 stars because the service was SOSLOW. This place is so under staffed. The bartender was waiting for the entire bar area and we saw two servers that were waiting tables for the entire restaurant. The food is good and our waiter/bartender was doing his best but this place needs to be staffed better.

Great place, but beware of their very generous tip calculator on the receipt… they calculate the tip based on the post-tax total. Sneaky buggers!

the husband and i came here for christmas dinner on my birthday trip to napa, as it was one of the only restaurants in the valley open on that day. we booked our reservation on open table for 7:15pm, but later in the day, after having a very late lunch decided to move it to 8pm, which was still an available option to us on open table. when we arrived at 8pm, of course we found that the host had printed an older version of the reservations and had already crossed our name off the list as a no show, so we ended up having a wait about 25 min for a table. this is no problem normally as we very typically grab a drink before sitting down to a meal, but when we took seats at the bar, we found ourselves being very deliberately ignored by the bartender. after waiting about 6 minutes, struggling to even make eye contact, i caught his attention to ask for the drink menu. apparently this was not indicator enough to come back to get our order, as he continued to pass us over to serve other customers, even after another person on the staff pointed out to him that we were waiting! it was hard not to feel singled out. coupled with how hangry we were, we were really not pleased when we were finally shown to our table 16 minutes later(i know, we timed it), without the chance to grab a drink at the bar. the rest of the meal was fine, other than service being slow. when we mentioned that we’d been waiting for a drink at the bar for over 20 minutes, we were told that they were overbooked, which frankly is a dumb excuse because they could have restricted reservations and the christmas rush had nothing to do with the inept bartender. christmas ruined. oh well.

This would have been a perfect five, but the hostess asked if we had reservations, when we said no you would have thought we were low life’s. She said well because you do not have reservations we can only seat you in these few seats. I could understand if every seat in the house was filled, but they weren’t. In my opinion that was bad customer service, she could have just said we have these seats available, not make you feel less than all because of a reservation, I think we spent the same as someone with a reservation. The gnocchi was to die for, the best I have ever had and the service other than that was excellent, oh and they also make their own beers.

The food was excellent. We had Hamburgers, Thai curries vegetables and Risotto, all were so very much flavorful. Also, the decoration and atmosphere of this place was inviting. I’ll definitely come back. I strongly recommend it to everyone.

This review is for Calistoga inn thanksgiving dinner only. The restaurant definitely has a nice ambience and nice service but the food: not so good :( We ordered salmon and turkey plate along with the sides(mashed potato/squash ring/cranberry sauce etc) but only the meat was flavorful. the sides were just ok. Same goes for the dessert which was average. However the crab cake and the salad were decent. Overall o think I would not go for the food again. For the ambience: maybe!

We love the staff!!! The food was great!!! This place had warm rooms, warm showers, a vintage inn feeling, and food out of this world. The restaurant is just may be looking for to rest on your retreat. The lamb shank and country puella was excellent. Please continue serving great food and keeping people warm and happy. We were recommended here twice. Also the next morning my car battery was low wouldn’t start. The head Brewer and Christmas light staff gave my fiancé and I jump and got us going in the morning.(They wouldn’t even except our money for there help) Gotta go there to sleep and or eat.

I’m not only staying in the inn but having dinner and beer. The hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are very clean and has a home feeling to them. I loved it! There is a sink in each of the rooms and a shared bathroom down the hall. The bathrooms are separated men and women and also very clean. They do not provide slippers or robes so bring your own. They do provide towels and soaps. There is no parking lot but lots of street parking in the neighboring area. The food is delicious! I got a fungi pizza with truffle oil and yummmm! The beer is also a must! Lots of selection of wine too! Great fun experience!

I went here fully expecting the rooms to be loud also had a groupon. We came on a sunday and were told that they were fully booked and the only available room was #17 it was above the bar and on the side where you checked in. The room was very clean and everything in there looked new, there’s no AC but it this wasn’t a problem as there was a fan and a big window. There’s a sink in the room and the bed was very comfortable. I thought the walls were pretty thick as we didn’t hear any sounds coming from the rooms beside us. Maybe it was because we came on a sunday or the way our room was situated, I’m not sure but we also didn’t think it was loud. We were able to get a good night’s sleep. We accidentally turned on the heater and didn’t know how to turn it off but someone came right away to fix it. Breakfast was as mentioned in other reviews: coffee, fresh orange juice, peaches, scones and cereal, had no complaints because it was free. The bathrooms are super clean as well. Each bathroom stall had it’s own door and lock. The showers were also separate and you were able to lock it so no issue with privacy. They provide towels and toiletries in the shower as well. We also had beer at the bar and they had an excellent selection and the bar tender was great. We at at the restaurant, had gnocchi and pizza and you can tell they only use the freshest ingredients, service was also great! I love the ambiance of the restaurant at night, very romantic. Overall, I had a great experience with this place and I would stay here again even without the groupon. Like I said earlier maybe it was because we came on a sunday and the bar and restaurant was less busy? But the service was always great, no problems checking in.

Went here twice during our weekend excursion! The first time was so my husband could try the beer flight(with all the wineries around here sometimes you just need a cold beer). I sampled all the beers and found the Porter to be my favorite! We also shared the arugula salad and a burger. Both were excellent! The second time we went we each had a Porter and we shard the wings and crab cakes. All was delicious. Would definitely come back here again.

We stopped into the Calistoga Inn Restaurant & Brewery for a beer. We walked into the bar but there was no bartender. We checked the time and I guess the bartender was late because we walked in a little after 4 and thats when the inside bar was posted to open. There was a bar and patio seating outside so we decided to do that. I had their IPA and it was so good, we decided to purchase a growler! It was an easy decision because the growlers here were only $ 20! We sat on two big red chairs and relaxed under the trees with our beers in the far back part of the patio. I wish I was there right now! I took away one star because they did not have anyone from their staff in the inside restaurant when the posing on the door said the bar should have been open. Other than that, this restaurant has a great atmosphere and a tasty beer selection! We will be back!

The food on average was pretty nice. Mussels and clam: yummy! Wings: nice and crispy with a good coating of sauce. Best Burger: dry, lucky we saved the blue cheese dressing from the wings which saved the burger. Reuben: as it should be nothing to complain about or praise Club Sandwich: alright Bloody Mary: delicious HOWEVER The service was arrogant, inept, lazy, and quite unbelievable. Arrogant — I got 1 bruschetta for $ 14. Granted it was a larger than average bruschetta, it wasn’t big enough to warrant a $ 14 price tag. The waiter then argued with me saying that it was an appetizer so I should have expected only 1 bruschetta. Somewhat Inept — he couldn’t remember who got what dishes and placed the drinks down in fro

We came for the drinks and the Warriors game. Our server at Sam’s said that the Calistoga Brewery has the BIGGEST TVs INALLOFCALISTOGA! We peddled our bikes over there and found a charming dark little brew pub, with the BIGGEST TVs INALLOFCALISTOGA! There were three forty inch TVs on the wall. Our hotel TV might have been bigger. I mean, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the size of the Brewery’s TVs, I just thought it was funny how were were sold a bill of goods touting the TVs as gigantic haha. Christian, behind the bar, poured me two very nice rye Old Fashioneds. We watched the Warriors soundly whip Dwight Howard and the Rockets with a bar full of locals. We didn’t have any food, but the guy next to me had a plate of paella that looked tasty. We had a great time at the Calistoga Brewery. Also, there was no biking into bushes after this jaunt.

I bought a Groupon deal to stay at the Inn & the deal was surprisingly good. We got a one nights stay, $ 20 meal credit for their restaurant, two complimentary beer tastings, & a tasting pass for August Briggs wine room all for $ 190. Check-in was easy at the reception area. The Inn is quaint & cozy. As with most B&B’s it was shared bathrooms which didn’t bother me as they were as private as they could get. Luckily we had a corner room that was away from the bathroom area. The room was spacious enough, comfy bed, & a sink. Towels were also provided in the room. For a one nights stay we were fairly happy with the accommodations. What we weren’t happy with is how much noise you can hear & I’m a heavy sleeper. For that reason alone, we probably won’t stay again. What we did love about the Inn was the restaurant/bar. Since Saturday is college football day for my husband, we were planted at our table for a few hours. First off, the staff was great! The restaurant had a nice variety of dishes on the menu. I had the short ribs w/potatoes & my husband had the skirt steak. Let’s just say lick the plate good. Beer list was good enough, but not stellar. Hubs is pretty much a brew snob though. Great wine menu & cocktail list. If I could give the restaurant four stars, I would. Final thoughts — we’d come back for the restaurant only.
