I eat out a lot traveling in business and have ti give accolades to this Applebee’s as being one of the top one’s for fiid and service. Have eaten here 3 tines in past two weeks and all other places in Calexico that I ate at were a disappointment in comparison to this restaurant. Appetizers were great. Steak was cooked to perfection and burger was very good. Server tonight was fantastic — way to go Belinda you rocked.

Long waiting time for waitresses to come up to your table, long waiting time to get your food, and long waiting time to get someone to come by for a refill. The food: the worst I’ve ever had at any Applebee’s(considering I’ve been to several in Arizona, San Diego, Napa Valley…) The boneless buffalo are ALWAYS dry and hard to chew. The service: waitresses are always rude and a pain to deal with. Overall, whenever I visit the valley I rather drive to El Centro than visit the location in Calexico.

Every time I go to Applebee’s in Calexico I have a good experience I get seated promptly weather I’m with my family or just my wife I noticed some other Unilocalers have had bad experiences but mine have been great keep up the good work.

The food is okay. I wish the chicken had more flavor though. It was very bland compared to chicken I have had in the past at other restaurants. The fries were not very tasty. I would never go here unless I was invited by friends because it was not very enjoyable. I would suggest this for people in this area though because there are not many other places to get food here.

I usually have a good experience but today 2as pretty MEH… We got there about 10 till 4 and wanted to get the lunch specials… The waiter took forever and got back at us at like 4:01 and refused to honor the special lunch price… The lemonade was too sweet, had to ask for a glass o water and made 2 glasses out of it(couldve made a small pitcher)… So we ordered the wings and a sandwich… The wings were super cold, i wouldve sent them back but my husband doesnt like to return food to the waiters in fear they might spit on it or something… Anyways… Bad day today

I had to write a review because my service experience at this Applebee’s was quite different from the other reviews. Let me start by saying I am not a fan of this chain, at all. Yet I often find them the only restaurant within walking distance of hotels that I stay at in small towns. So I reluctantly went there last week, only because it was convenient. I was greeted within a couple of minutes of walking in, and asked if I wanted a booth or a table. I was by myself and opted for a booth. The place was about 50% full. My waitress was at the table immediately, offered me menus and suggest their top drawer margarita. Imagine my surprise when she brought a shaker and a martini glass — — and an olive. Yes, for reasons that I do not get, they serve a fairly expensive margarita with an olive in it. So I fished that little sucker out immediately and winced through the first part of the drink until the olive taste washed away. Please guys — olives do not belong in margaritas. Ever. I ordered a steak dish that include two 4 oz sirloins with a mushroom, onion, red pepper and bourbon glaze. The plate came sizzling hot, but sadly, was way over cooked. I order medium and the steaks were well done. About 30% of the meat was inedible as it was just too tough to chew and seriously overcooked. The bourbon glaze and vegis were good, but there should have been more on the plate. Not sure what the deal was with the mashed potatoes — they kind of rubberized on the plate and had to be pried off. The service was excellent — the waitress was by many times and very attentive. The food however, was typical for Applebee’s and disappointing. A bit more attention would make a difference, as the concept of the dinner was good, but poorly executed. The margarita was good, but again, olives and other vegetable should not be floating around in tequila. It did not seem fair to give a lower rating, because I knew it was Applebee’s when I walked in the door.

The worst service ever!!! Took 30 mins to a drink by that time the stupid waitress said sorry happy hours over! Told her we were here for 30 mins before we could order and we would have made happy hour if she would have helped us…, didn’t care and charged us full price. Food good but service was soooooo horrible won’t ever eat at this one again.

The food is as expected at Applebee’s. The waitress is very friendly and so far prompt but the hostess sucks monkey ass. She seems so busy to even crack a smile or talk to you more than asking how many. Happy hour is good for half off appetizers and drink specials. That’s about it.

We were stranded at Applebee’s when our car died in Mexicali. The staff at Applebee’s let us store our luggage for four hours, were very attentive to our situation, told us about the sunday happy hour specials and turned our lemon situation to lemonade. They were fabulous!

This place was total crap. The food was sub par, and the service was shitty. Bypass this place and pick somewhere else.

Applebees is basically fast food in a sit down restaurant. I ate here out of convenience and i the really regret it. I won’t be coming back ever again by choice… The staff is friendly enough but the food quality is just NOT good.

I recently reviewed the Applebee’s in El Centro, and suffice it to say, I did not rate that one with 5 stars. The Calexico Applebee’s is clean, the staff is friendly and efficient, and we didn’t have to wait an unreasonable amount of time for our food. Nothing wrong with that. When we first arrived, we were a party of 4. The on duty manager opened the front door for us himself, and welcomed us to the restaurant. We were seated immediately and informed our waiter we were expecting 2 more people. While we waited, he kept the drinks coming and took our appetizer order. The rest of our party arrived, and they brought along 3 additional people. No problem for the Applebee’s staff. The manager started putting together a table big enough to comfortably accommodate our group, then moved our drinks and silverware over to the new table. Our server Roy was phenomenal. He took our orders quickly, got everything right and was very friendly and helpful throughout the evening. He and the manager both stopped by our table several times to ensure that we had everything we needed. Our drinks never wanted for a refill. He had no problems splitting our checks correctly. All in all, this Applebee’s experience was a welcome change from my experiences at the El Centro location. While I will still never return to the El Centro Applebee’s it is nice to know that if I am craving a fantastic Red Apple Sangria or want to hang out and watch the game, its not too far to head to Calexico.
