Not a very cost-friendly place… I found a small tree in a 10-gallon pot that I liked for $ 129 but they wanted $ 250 to deliver and plant it! And I lived 3 miles away! I found a similar tree in a pot at Meijer… just slightly smaller… for $ 17. This business advertises as being in business since 1945. How is that possible with prices like this?

Do not use this company. I had a $ 50,000 landscaping job done. Kevin Slosser was to be the designer and foreman, I guess. Just because he is married to the owner’s daughter, certainly does not give him the skills he should have to do this job. He is extremely unprofessional, tells you one thing and then denies it or changes it later. I specifically asked to pick out my own plantings and I went to the job site one day and all the plants were in… none picked by me. They cannot tie up loose ends. Completely forgot to hydroseed a huge area of my lawn. Lied and said they put down weed barrier but DIDNOT and there are weeds all over the place in the beds. They actually told us this is «normal». Really? They chipped up my cement, charged me for ledgestone that I did not receive, did not clean up messes they made. When I tried to talk to the owner, two ladies told me that he won’t talk to customers, that’s what Archie Warner pays THEM to do. Well, if talking to them fails, then what? There is no one there who is accountable. All I want is to get what I paid for. Shoddy work, trees spaced all crooked and too close to the house. All my large trees died. It is unbelievable that they are still in business. Kevin Slosser is the worst and Shannon Fischer makes promises that she doesn’t keep. Plus you have to hold the phone away from your ear because she talks so loud and whitewashes everything. Very, very, very bad service and customer relations. They give you a very vague estimate so then they can overcharge you for all kinds of other things that should have been in the original estimate. They never have a foreman on site and the guys that are there never know what they are doing. I essentially was the foreman, so why am I doing their job??? I had a similar landscaping job done 3 hours up north by a different company and had no problems whatsoever.

I agree with the other comments. Stay far away from H&W they will tell you one thing and do another. Then when you call and try to talk reasonable Robin and the older lady are always so rude and condescending. They try to make it seem as if «no one ever said that.» They have done work on our pond for several years and they have consistently done a poor job. They are always trying to sell you something you don’t need. One year they will say you need a new part. They will sell it to you at some astronomical price. Then the next year they tell you that you don’t need the part they sold you last year only to turn around and sell you another over priced part. We have tried to be a loyal customer but it’s time to move on to another reputable company. We’ve stayed loyal too long. Save yourself the headache.

While it is unfortunate that it required escalation /filing a complaint for our problems to be addressed — H & W has now addressed our issues and for the most part resolved them. We do appreciate them taking our problems seriously. My recommendation is that they do pretty good work and could have better customer service or perhaps better communication internally to make sure clients don’t get mad in the first place. I appreciate them stepping up.
