This place is so amazingly awful that if they were giving out awards for the WORSTPLACEEVER this would be the number one pick. It’s not even worth the time or energy that it takes to write this review. Unilocal should allow a negative stars rating. The food is terrible and the service is so much worse. They used to have one nice guy that worked at the bar but he’s apparently been replaced by an old version of Sheera who looks like she was«ridden hard then hung out to dry» — and damn proud of it. I mean you can’t even complain about the CRAPPY food or God-Awful service because she’s definitely looking for a fight and she can definitely take you plus any guys you’re with. She’ll also watch you sign the check to make sure she gets her tip. Well here’s a tip for you lady — barbwire tattoos are trashy and your muscles aren’t sexy, they’re a warning sign of all bad things to come. I mean come on. Seriously.

You would think that making good Italian food would be relatively easy for an Italian restaurant to do. However, coming from back east where every Italian restaurant is in the range of good to outrageous, I am surprised to see how many Southern California Italian restaurants don’t live up. Spumoni is an example of this idea. How can an Italian restaurant make Italian food with no taste? Either this restaurant has gone to great pains to remove the flavor out of the dishes they make, or the flavor was never there to begin with. Either way, I’m still looking for it and haven’t found it. To me, Italian food should be nirvana, and have an explosion of flavor that should be memorable. My experience at this establishment is forgettable, to say the least. I cannot, in good conscience, go there again while haunted by the memory of years past growing up with the Italian food of my youth. It is my quest to find REAL Italian food in the Greater Los Angeles area.

What am I missing here? I see MOSTLY4 and 5 stars(and a few lower), but I thought this food was overpriced and without much flavor. Very uninspired Italian food. I can’t stand when Italian food, or any food for that matter, has little or no flavor. My favorite part, honestly, was the entertainment. Yet, it was crowded(a Saturday night), but I couldn’t figure out why. I’m sorry we wasted our money.

Spumoni is simply delicious! The Margherita Pizza is to die for and the crust is a thing of beauty. The Caesar Salad is also very good and the dressing is creamy and yummy. I wish more people would go to Spumoni! It’s so good!

Uncooked risotto. Overprised food. Burnt sauce. I don’t think I’ll be eating there. It used to be better few yeas ago. Whatever they changed, must be undone.

Everytime we have been here it has been great. I prefer the capellini and she prefers the gnocchi. Not sure if they still do it but the wine and dine deal is amazing. I think it is two salads, two entrees, and two deserts WITH a bottle of wine for 50 bucks I believe. Nice

we used to LOVE this place. the bread is good, the salads were good, the soup was good and the service was good. They increased the size of the bar and got rid of a bunch of great menu items and we haven’t been back since. Too bad we used to go at least once a week. I’ll never understand why a restaurant changes their menu without asking the people who keep the place from closing down.

It doesn’t get much better than this. Great food and stellar atmosphere. Im somewhat particular about the places I dine out at for their overall setting. Its a big deal for me. I cant enjoy a meal unless im comfortable with my surroundings. This location well accommodated that. Its very peaceful, the temperature was just right, and it wasn’t too loud. The staff is great and made great recommendations as well. But the food was really good all together. If you are picky about eating at restaurants because of comfort, look no further and go here.

I just added Spumoni to my «never again» list. The food — which is the whole point — it far below average. I had a pasta dish with meatballs. The meatballs tasted like stale old bread and some kind of meat extender — maybe soy protein or something. Rubbery and probably frozen. Not home made and no more Italian than eating a pair of shoes. Salad was soggy and tasteless. Service was average. My dining partner was so unhappy with his food that he could not eat it. He said it was fair-to-poor and totally lacked any flavor. So — Never, NEVER again.

This place is Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap! The food is horrid, the service is worse than the food. Avoid this place at all cost! I went during lunch and had disgusting food, gave it a second chance and it was the same. All my co-workers thought the same as i did. The waiter was this annoying south american, wannabe Italian.

I gave this place a few chances. It was good when they first opened(they replaced a mexican restaurant and was ½ italian ½ mexican at first). But the last few times I was there the food was bad. What keeps me away is the memory of the taste of the rotten tomato I was served in the salad. Service was usually good, but the food stinks. Im not a very good cook, and thats why I eat out more, but hell, I can make a pasta dish better than this place. It doesnt seem clean, I would be afraid to look into the kitchen.

Love this place! Awesome tiramisu, lobster ravioli, mussels, olive tapenade. The bread is also amazing! I am not usually a big fan of Italian food because the pasta, especially, usually makes me sick to my stomach. But I had no problems with the pasta from this restaurant. Personally, I really like the ambiance here. It’s nice and not too pretentious. The singer, albeit a little cheesy, I thought was rather charming. The prices are a little high, but it is well worth it for a special meal now and then.

Stopped by for the first time today. Beautiful little restaurant with a singer on Friday nights. In terms of food flavor, I’d only give Spumoni a 3. I LOVE gnocchi, and the mushroom gnocchi and the seafood gnocci(tutte mare) were very good but nothing too impressive. Personally, I prefer the gnocchi at Maggiano’s. However, the portions were huge. The bread basket is yum! The focaccia bread with that olive tapenade? To die for! The service was great. And I really liked my arnold palmer. I’d probably come back, but I wouldn’t do it without a coupon(i get mailers). They were pricey, which I guess is expected for most decent italian places, but still. I spent $ 16+ total(with tax and tip) even with the discount(and I went with one friend). Next time, I’d like to try the pasta or another gnocchi.

Best happy hour EVER. When you order a drink you get a free dish(if i remember you can pick between bruschetta, meatballs or pizza). This is a total neighborhood place. Matt the bartender wins 2 F’s for being Friendly AND Foxy! If you are in the Conejo Valley… I would totally recommend you stop on by.

Such great service! They are very sweet here, and with the coupons they give out, PLUS a gnocchi bar, how can you lose? :) ps. Their cannoli was probably the best I’ve tasted, ever.

Had a very good and delicious time at Spumoni. Ordered the Gnocchi(they had so many Gnocchi options) for dinner and it was just fabulous. Liking eating lil’ clouds. I’ll gladly return to try other items they have such as pizza, salad and pasta. Then again, I’ll probably order more Gnocchi because it was that good! The service was wonderful. I was greeted warmly upon entering and the drink refills kept on coming. I hear they also have live music during the weekends, how fun.

Liked this place. Alot! The place has a neighborhood feel with reasonable prices 2and was very busy on a Tuesday night. Wife had chicken parmigiana and I had a gnocchi dish from one of the many choices available. Liked our server, liked the food, liked the ambiance. Not fancy at all but good and comfortable. Only disappointment was chocolate cake for dessert which was solidly average and I wouldn’t get it again. I bet they make a mean cannoli though. I definitely wouldn’t go when the entertainment is there. I think it would be a minus to the experience not a plus.

YUM! I have mostly good things to say about this place. Went with boyfriend around 430pm, so that’s before the singer. The place was nearly empty. There’s a spacious bar by the entrance which I always think is a grand idea so that if it gets packed, you can be by the bar yet in the waiting area at the same time. There’s one little booth by the entrance if you need to wait for a table. The restrooms are also by the entrance. They need to fix the locks and doors in the women’s restroom. For such an elegant restaurant, it’s a little small. If you plan to go for dinner on Friday or Saturday night, call ahead to make reservations. Promptly seated and given recommendations by an EXCELLENT server(Steele). They have a WIDEARRAY to choose from on their menu(peep the website!). One thing that really impressed me was their extensive menu on Florentine gnocchi. Italian food is so heavily based on pizza & pasta that they put a whole page and some of gnocchi dishes. However, I ordered the Linguine al Pesto with Chicken and boyfriend ordered the Penne Arrabiata. BOTHARESUPERDELICIOUS. Got a basket of bread that comes with a large roll cut into fourths and also some twisty garlic bread which is delicious with their olive oil and balsamic vinegrette. Had the bartender create a virgin margarita which was PERFECT. When asked about dessert, our server brought out a tray of the desserts they offered as opposed to handing us a dessert menu so we could visually decide what was appetizing. I stuck to good ol’ spumoni and they did NOT disappoint! I hear their cannolli shells are flown in fresh from New Jersey. Endless soda refills… and the chef and owner came out themselves to ask how our food was. We also ordered calamari which I highly recommend, it is VERY tasty and HOT and the sauce it comes with has a spicy kick. if you have leftovers, make sure you ask them to pack the sauce up too. Overall WONDERFULEXPERIENCE and can’t wait to go again!

This is a review of the food… not the establishment(Please see my previous review for an honest review of the restaurant). I usually always get the Gnochi Pavarotti(hearty and robust meat sauce) and the Greek Salad but this time we decided to change things up a bit. Farfalle alla Vodka… SOGREAT! I’d highly recommend it.

The food is very good at Spumoni in Calabasas. That’s about it. The service is always disappointing, the décor is very chinsey and tacky(which is a really bad combination, if you can imagine) and the entertainment is… well…disturbing. The singer that they have in on Friday/Saturday nights is the reason for the 2⁄5(would be a-ok 3⁄5 if I didn’t have to sit through him a few times). He has a horrendous voice and he belts out lounge act numbers off of a karaōke machine while wearing the whole headphone mic getup. He walks around while he sings, trying to start up mid-song conversations at your table with you while you eat. Like I mentioned, the food is good. Very good homemade gnocchi(four cheese and the pavorotti are my favs) — with a selection of about 12 to choose from. I have tried ordering to-go from Spumoni in Calabasas, but again, the service was terrible from the telephone manners through to the food not being ready when I arrive to pick it up.
