I came here based on other Unilocal reviews and it did not disappoint. I had a turkey and bacon sandwich and it was delicious! It came with a small salad and a slice of melon and a slice of pineapple. The menu even shows all of the items that are grown locally! All of the staff was super friendly and attentive. A great dining experience overall!

Great coffee and awesome breakfast. All local products and very good. Of course the breads here are great. I am glad to have stopped in and you should also. Almost forgot. Excellent service and friendly.

Every time I come here I’m reminded again how much I like it. The service is friendly. The donuts and cookies are amazing(real yeast donuts… so hard to choose just one) and the food is always changing and always exceptional! A gem!

What a great find in this quaint town. A pleasant, unique menu selection that offers locally grown food. I had the roasted beet with goat cheese, spinach and candied walnuts on fresh baked sour dough bread. So good!

One of these unexpected pleasures. I went in with low expectations and went out, saying I wish I had one more bite. And, not because I was hungry. Blue Heron is that good, that creative and that friendly. Blue Heron could make it anywhere. I had the chorizo bowl. The chorizo was homemade and perfectly executed. The black beans were outstanding and the potatoes were fresh and buttery. It was a huge bowl, I was stuffed, but I pine’d for more. I was now addicted. My buddy had the ham and eggs, yeah I know not real original, but I’ve never heard of Dearborn Ham, I could eat that ham off my girlfriends shoe in front of my wife’s divorce attorney, and we’d both enjoy it. Way better then Virginia ham. Service excellent, it’s just a shame I live so far away.

Great lunch spot. Delicious sandwiches prepared with fresh, simple ingredients. Homemade sourdough is terrific and not overly sour. Fast and friendly service.

Wow! I might move to Cadillac, MI just so I can come here any time I want ;) I loved the vibe of this place and the food blew me away! I started w coffee and a glazed pumpkin donut, both delicious! I ordered the sweet potato bowl to go to enjoy later at work. This bowl was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I absolutely loved it! Not only was the food good, but the atmosphere was even better. This place was packed on a Wednesday morning and everyone was so happy and welcoming. I’m not sure if the man working the register was the owner or not, but if he isn’t, he’s one helluva employee! I left with a huge smile on my face and a to go donut for my boyfriend back home in Philly :)

I had the Roast beef deli sandwich which had a generous portion on a hearty slab of bread. There were herbs that gave it a great favor all its own. It was grilled but is light not like the heavy New York style deli sandwiches which are also delicious, this was a sandwich that had several cheeses to create that favor. I liked it, it wasn’t tip top delicious but it was worth it. The chic peas were good too followed by a sweet slice of melon.

The menu looks great but the reality is lacking. My healthy-sounding lunch was greasy and bland. I really wanted to like it but left disappointed.

On a trip to Traverse City, found this little gem. Haven’t found the north part Michigan to be a mecca of fine dining, but Blue Heron is an exception to that rule. Service was exceptional and the food, exceptional. I was by myself and I thoroughly enjoyed the michigan farmers omelet, with housemade chorizo sausage. A nice touch was the homemade preserves for toast. Definitely making this a part of future trips«up north».

My husband and I visited this location after our first visit at the Blue Heron2 in Traverse City. Our waitress there told us of the location in Cadillac and we were so excited to see her on our second visit! Our waitress that we had today was so friendly to us and made us feel so welcome. We were even given a complimentary Blue Heron mug because we were on our honeymoon. The food is incredible. We’ve never had a better breakfast/brunch café experience ever. We met the chef and he talked for us for a bit about how they make their bread. We then were able to try a sample of a sourdough citrus pancake that was on a special that day. We were blown away with how delicious his cooking is. If you’ve never been to the Blue Heron or the Blue Heron2, it is a MUSTGO!

SO cute. I was visiting a friend and we had a great brunch. The staff was so friendly and I loved the small diner feeling of this place. I ordered an omelet and it accidentally came with meat when I asked for none and at first I was going to pick it out but the waitress insisted to take it back and I really appreciated that. Now lets talk about the bread… OMG soo fresh I could have eaten an entire loaf. Try some.

Found this place driving through. The curry potato soup was awesome and the fresh baked crusty bread made for wonderful sandwiches. We got a couple of donuts to go — and decided it was best that we do not live near this place –as they were amazing! We would definitely go back!

I stopped in here to pick up some baked goods(aka: cookies) to take to a client. While looking at the selection, I noticed they had gluten free cookies. Let me just say that they have what is quite possibly the best tasting cookie I’ve had, gluten free or not. When you do the basics right, you have a solid product. Will definitely be back!

A very popular place for breakfast and lunch for good reason. Fresh baked goods every morning. Love the sourdough bread. Unsliced so you can cut as thick of a slice as you want at home. The breakfast sandwiches are delicious and the bacon egg and goat cheese is always a go to. Lunch is a busy time too because the sandwiches are culinary blends that you can’t get anywhere else. Serving them grilled adds to the flavor for sure. The staff is very friendly. Participated in the Mothers Day brunch last weekend and was told«they really put on a meal» that day. Well it surely was, 6 course meal that lasted an hour and a half. The food was great and it seemed a lot of effort was put into the meal because it showed.

My mom lives in northern Michigan and I gave up a long time ago trying to find delicious, fresh and healthy food dining out, especially anywhere that isn’t overpriced. What a surprise this place is! Simple, delicious and so fresh! Something for all tastes, including so many well developed options for my vegetarian diet, including the(ahem) donut I had for desert! Simple, comfortable and tasteful atmosphere. The people behind this place are smart and talented and we’ll be back!

My boyfriend and I stopped in here for a late lunch on Thursday 8÷7÷14 on our way to Thompsonville. I liked their Nature Lovers Salad with grilled chicken– delicious! I asked for a side of their sourdough bread– it was not good(extremely dry and tasteless) — perhaps it was an off day or maybe California is the only place to get good tasting sourdough. My boyfriend liked his lunch flight — ½ sandwich(turkey), cup of soup(bean & bacon), Olive bread, small salad, & cookie for $ 10 Our server was a nice young lady– very personable. They were getting ready to close for the day when we were leaving and there was a lady with what appeared to be a perma scowl on her face waiting to lock the door. Her demeanor was off putting and if she is the owner– yikes, I hope the servers don’t mess up!

The Blue Heron was a planned lunch stop on the drive from Ann Arbor to Elk Rapids. The lunch special was a small sampling of the soup, salad and sandwich of the day plus a home made cookie to boot and all for just $ 10. This makes for a great pit stop if you want to get off the I-75 grind driving north for the weekend and take a little more scenic, less fast paced commute north!
