Yep, I still love Harman’s! This year we stayed at cabin 19 which is a pet lovers luxury cabin. You would not know it when entering the cabin as it smells fresh and clean! Wifi and direct tv were clutch as it was a holiday weekend and football Sunday. The cabin is perfect for«glamping». The downstairs shower has full force water pressure which I love! There is a great fire pit in the back yard with a picnic bench and the hot tub was definitely put to good use! It is close to smokehole caverns which is a excellent tour and close to dolly sods hiking. There is no cell service for miles so that definitely took some getting used to. Another observation, there was a neighboring house that prominently displayed a confederate flag. The view was not as spectacular as their many other cabins as cabin 19 is located off premises among a small neighborhood a few miles down the road. A bit hard to find considering there is no cell service to adjust your gps, but it is the only dog-friendly luxury cabin we’ve found in wv that is worth driving to. I will always live Harman’s cabins and I’m very certain my family will visit every year!

What can I say about this place? It’s beautiful. What an excellent location with a beautiful rock formation and fantastic water access. It is pretty close to the highway — like right on a main road — but that’s OK because the cabins are pretty well made. Myself and three girlfriends — all roommates in college — meet up yearly once or twice to spend time together and this year we decided to stay here since one of us had been before for a work retreat. We stayed in Cabin #1 — the Rainbow Trout — a three bedroom cabin right beside the road — the first one you come to when you pull in across the street from the gift shop/check-in office. The cabins are rustic enough but also comfortable with all the usual amenities you’d expect. Ours had three bedrooms but the upstairs was an open loft bedroom which we didn’t expect. The bedding was pleasantly clean and soft and the cabin was well maintained and clean. We had one bathroom and a fully stocked kitchen. They provide dishes and such but you have to bring your own soap and cleaning supplies. It also had a fairly large tv and dvd player. The view from inside was beautiful — we had a front line view of the rock formation and water. There was a large gas fireplace that put out a lot of heat. Our cabin had a hot tub outside — which we didn’t use as it was freezing cold and rainy most of the weekend — as well as an established fire pit stocked with some cut wood and a small picnic-style grill. We did build a fire in the grill and fire pit for hotdogs and s’mores. That was fun and pretty easy. Honestly, though it was advertised that each cabin had wifi — I wasn’t expecting much. But I was pleasantly surprised because, not only was the wifi easy to access, we never had a problem with it. We were all able to connect our phones and computers(I used my iPad) easily and never really lost signal. It’s a good thing the wi-fi worked so well — because there is absolutely NO cell reception here and we had Sprint, AT&T and Verizon between us. The gift shop across the way sells a few food items and some things you’d need like aluminum foil and dish soap, etc. But you’d better bring the big important things because it’s really isolated. It’s 12 miles from Petersburg which is the nearest town and you can drive to Yokum’s small store for a few items as well if needed but really — you’re here to fish or enjoy some rustic fun. We spoke to some really nice fisherman who had come for the weekend to fly fish and said they came every year and that they usually build fire pits and invite everyone — so that would’ve been fun. Shame it was cold and windy because that would’ve been a blast. We did have a great time and the gals in the gift shop were really friendly — even coming up to take a group photo for us on the second floor balcony before we checked out.

Our family recently stayed in Lob Cabin #1 — Rainbow Trout at Harman’s North Fork Cottages. The cabin was exactly what we were looking for and then some. It was clean, did not have a damp or mildew smell, and had been well maintained. It had an outside hot tub(which we did not use) and a large inside jet tub(which my wife and kids loved). It also had a gas fireplace which put off a great deal of heat. The staff was very friendly and helpful. However the best thing was the view. The view out our main windows was simply amazing. On the negative side, the smoke detector on the second floor had been disconnected and was missing. The Price was a little on the high side, but you do get what you pay for. I highly recommend these log cabins!
