My wife and I stopped in there yesterday afternoon for dinner. We both ordered burgers and fries, hers was a Western Burger And mine was a Bacon Cheeseburger, and I got a shake. They not only looked good, they tasted great! And the 20oz chocolate shake was so thick and creamy that I couldn’t use the straw… My wife helped me eat the shake otherwise I couldn’t have finished it… next time I may try their pie and get a smaller shake and less fries, but I’ll definitely get another Bacon Cheeseburger for sure.

As one of the only places in Butte Falls to eat, it’s not too bad. I had one of their burgers and it was good and acceptably priced for the area. The service could be worked on though. Came in at 11:30 and it took 40 min to get my lunch. It didn’t seem that busy and the kitchen staff seemed to be in no rush. I also had to ask to have my drink refilled and the food came without utensils, needed to ask for those as well.

When a local says you gotta eat somewhere, you tend to listen. Had a coworker from the area tell me the burgers were awesome, so I stopped in on my way through. This was what a burger should be. Hand pressed, succulent beef patty, with a lightly toasted, buttered bun that crunches with each bite. The fries weren’t the frozen-joe stuff either– beer battered! I also got the Mushroom Swiss Bacon burger(they were out of the Gouda and the smoke sauce for the Smokey Burger). I wouldn’t say my bacon was very limp, like R M’s experience. It wasn’t as crisp as I’d of liked though. Service was friendly, especially since I stopped in to get my order to go right before close. Would have loved to have tried one of their hand made shakes too.

The weather service was predicting rain from the evening through the next week but this morning was cold and sunny so I took the Rumble Bee for its last ride in September up into the Cascades to the hamlet of Butte Falls for lunch at the Butte Falls Café; an old name and building with new owners as of Aug. ’13. Once a lumber town, The two cafes now depend mostly on tourists, hunters, fishers and other outdoor types who venture into the Cascades north of Mt. McLaughlin – which by the way already had its first snow cap for the autumn. The café has been repainted and has a really nice wooden counter and homemade-looking tables and chairs – giving it a lumber town look. I tried the mushroom-swiss-bacon burger. It was okay but the bacon was very limp. Fires come in full or half order, as does the other optional side to the burgers. The fries are coated for crispness.
