Yancy Common Times Journal

This weekly periodical serves Yancey County ALMOST exclusively. I lived in the area when I was a teen and when passing through Burnsville, my family would pick up this paper. Is it the New York Times? For this area it is. It lets you know local information and even dispatches a photographer when there are floods in the area, or someone grew a larger than normal piece of produce or when the local kids graduate. Papers like this were plentiful «way back when» and it’s great to see this paper keeping true to it’s roots and producing quality LOCAL journalism. It’s nice to read a newspaper that is NOT depressing. I LOVE the Yancey Common Times. This is country journalism at it’s best! «Don’t change a hair for me… not if you care for me.» Keep up the good work.
