Dakota County Library-Burnhaven

Great location to begin with. Very friendly staff, neat and clean from inside. They have lots of free activities and things to do for kids during summers. Great place to bring kids! The computer center has plenty of computers and is in an enclosed glass room!

I like this library better than Apple Valleys. Its smaller and easier to find books. The remodel was nice. I had issues years ago by having to buy a book I got wet. The childrens books usually are damaged and I pointed that out upon returning. Dvds are free for 7 days If older. New release Dvds are $ 1.00 a day still I think. I read mainly non fiction and true crime. I frequent the library every 2 – 3 months. My son needed a book his measly school library didnt have. I like the 3 week checkout and can renew over the phone for another 3 – 6 weeks If noone wants the book. I like the new library book section. Self checkout so easy your kid can do it. Book return is nice to Drive up and return your book. Actually you can return at any Dakota library location. You can also put a hold on a book you want and sometimes you get it in less than a week depending on demand. Glad our taxpayer money goes to a good service we all can Enjoy for free and/​or low cost.

Love the talking book munching delivery window that was installed. This was Burnsville’s futuristic answer for technology upgrades in the recently re-​built library location. Layout is a bit awkward in the child’s section but overall a cool library with a good selection. Checkout is a breeze which allows you to throw your books on a flatbed scanner and it automatically scans it for you.
This library also doubles as the license renewal center for drivers licenses and car registration.

Overall this is a good library. They are quite big with a good selection. I am not sure how to rate the staff because I never really find my self needed their assistance, but I really don’t have anything bad to say about them. I love the quick self check outs and there is never a line. The over nice thing is that this location has a DMV that I never knew about!

The book selection is good, but the staff is kind of stiff. I thought after the remodel that the librarians would be friendlier, not true.
