Portions are about a third of what you see in their pictures. Kids included. Food was good, but you aren’t going to be full. Or the kids. The screaming. Hungry. Kids.

Went around 3:30 am, & my sliders were cold. Horrible! Manager didn’t even speak. Just announced our total

This Resturant owner should be embarrassed. Bathrooms are filthy. Food is greasy. Staff asks if all is OK but really does not care about the answer. Cooks use way too much butter on buns to the point the bun is dripping in oil. Don’t waste you money here. Shakes are great.

They need to learn how to handle making food when the restaurant gets a little busy. Waited at the drive-through for 25 minutes. I’m not kidding, 25 minutes. The food was fine but a little cold, which is astonishing when you think about the fact that if they are busy, they are probably making burgers as fast as they can. I’ll be back to steak and shake, but not back to this

I like the steak burger all the way, very tasty. The fries are OK, but they come unsalted so it is always hard to get the right amount of salt on them for the right taste. I think they are a bit better than most fast food places overall.

I would comment on the food here, but I had to give up on my wait for service, once it appeared as though I just wasn’t going to get any. I entered the restaurant, to get a little food while passing by this location on my way to Washing DC, the place was void of any other customers, and after a few minutes a lady finally appeared to seat me in the empty restaurant. She basically just said what do you want to drink and after I said a shake, she disappeared. About 15 minutes later she reappeared from the back, and said she was making my shake. I ask if she would like to take my order, and she said they were working on three other orders, and when they completed them she would come back and take my order. After about five more minutes I realized I could be there the rest of the night trying to get something to eat, so I just got up and left. No one was around to notice or care, of course I could have came back an hour or two later and see if they could take my order yet, but I needed to complete my trip to DC and not spend the night in a Steak & Shake with hopes of eventually getting some food. At least I don’t have to go back to this location again, but if I did I would just keep going to where I might be treated with a little more respect and concern.

Where do I begin? My friends HAD to come here the other night, not sure why. We had to sit ourselves and grab the menus ourselves(good thing we didn’t want anything to do with the register?). The waitress/MANAGER came up to us with a notepad, didn’t say a word. We assumed it was time to order, and every thing we ordered it was like she was frothing with rage. She walked away & didn’t say a word, still. Started to cook & was intentionally slamming stuff around. We get our food, the«fries» are extremely hot but when you bit into them, they were still freezing on the inside, somehow(everyone else tried them but I didn’t). It was a party of 4, and two plates had MULTIPLEHAIRS from her on the food. One called her over & she intentionally looked the opposite way to ignore us. She finally came back over & explained there is HERHAIRINOURFOOD, and she still DIDNTSPEAK and grabbed the plate and walked away. She called out to someone else working there(first time we see a second employee all night) so we know she is able to hear/speak. This was it. I didn’t even take a bite of my food because I don’t want to eat hair, or support someone’s rude business behavior. I walked outside and immediately called the corporate number(they acted like they had no idea how to speak, either, and consistently repeated back to me the wrong phone number/my name’s spelling). This is an absolute train wreck of a business & I would not bother. My first experience here and I will never even attempt to come back again, at any location.

If I could give zero star I would. After sitting in the drive thru for a total of 17 minutes you would think our food would be hot but the only hot thing was my milkshake. Anytime you go inside after sitting for nothing you would think the manager would be apologetic but after we requested a refund she gave it and just walked away as if she was inconvenienced without a word. Chick fil a saved the day!

This is about the worst place to eat. Food was not right and waitress do not care if you get your food. They never come back to ask if you want anything else. Too much inside turmoil with waitress. they will not help each other

When I used to drive all over the state for work, I’d constantly pass the Steak-N-Shake exit sign on the side of I-85 and think, «Man, you’ve got to try it sometime!» Last night, I finally did. I stopped in with a buddy on the way to a concert in Greensboro. We walked into the fairly empty restaurant a little after 7:00pm and were greeted and seated almost immediately. The floors had just been mopped and, fortunately for me, our table was proximate to the hostess stand. Otherwise, it might have turned ugly. This was a bit of an impromptu trip so I had already eaten dinner but I made sure to try a salted caramel pretzel milk shake. Across the table, my friend got a burger with guac and cheese, a side of fries, and a cup of chili. My milkshake was dope, exceptionally reasonably priced, and served in a comically tall glass which made maneuvering the ice cream spoon in and out of the container a true engineering marvel. Though I can’t speak for the burger, fries, and chili, they all looked like they were cooked up in an elementary school cafeteria and, if they tasted anything like they looked, I imagine they were deliciously comforting. Either way, homeboy didn’t leave a crumb. Would I rush back? Certainly not. Will I stop in to try the awesome looking breakfast next time I’m in Burlington at the appropriate hour? Most certainly.

I don’t know why they call it a steak restaurant. The burger was thin like you would at a fast food joint. The price for what you get is too much. There are better burgers at Mc Donalds. I will pass on this one next time.

Maybe Steak-N-Shake aught to go into just the Breakfast Business! It is Great at the Burlington Store! The«All You Can Eat» Pancakes are a «Hit» in my Book! Yum, Yum! They are Tasty and they keep them coming at $ 3.99 plus wonderful Coffee as Well! Keep up the Good work, we like it better than IHOP!

We stop here for a late night bite to eat as it is a quick in and out off the highway. Food is always good, nothing over the top, the staff is always helpful and friendly, and the bill is always very reasonable. Their shakes are good, and of course burgers are always tasty. Try the club sandwich or something not so fat filled, that was quite tasty as well. The place is clean, but the floor tends to be a bit greasy, they could use a good degreaser, especially on the area in the rest room, which was a bit slippery on this recent visit.

Cheep! But you get what you pay for. The foods all just ok quick hamburgers and hot dogs basic fried and grill foods. The shakes were good tasting. Only one that we didn’t care for was the S’mores milkshake. The hrs cracker flavoring was too artificial and overpowering.

I had never heard of Steak and Shake and was excited to have a good burger and shake. I was pretty disappointed! The burger was ok, but but was smashed flat. The fries were not eatable and I love fries! They were not hot, not salted, and were tough. The shake was nice and thick, but had no chocolate flavor. I won’t be back.

I kinda little surprise like this. On the way back in town, from Greensboro Coliseum after a nice show, friend and I were looking for a stop, for some gas and then some padding in the stomach, at 10PM. After circling a few blocks, and pulling out trusty Unilocal app, we quickly settled on this place. This one felt quite different than others, most I think because being a small town, there were a bunch of teenage kids in high school working here. The service was pretty good, and we didn’t get any attitude, although the people that crowded the counter for takeout orders were different story. Food was decent, and I liked the new fresh banana shake; that peanut butter banana shake was very delicious.

Stopped by here on the way from Durham to Winston-Salem with a car-full of tired and hungry guys and girls. Our group of 8 was seated right away. I ordered the Bacon Double Cheeseburger. It took a while for our food to come out but considering the size of our group I understand. Our waitress was good with refilling drinks and taking good care of us. The burger was good. Juicy and had good flavor. I’m not a big fan of the Steak-N-Shake fries. They are small shoestrings and I just don’t love them. Can’t put my finger on it. They do have some seasoning available on the tables which was nice. I got a double chocolate fudge milkshake for the road. It was good but the hot fudge got stuck in the straw and, being the driver, I had a hard time finishing it. Not a big deal but a bit frustrating. I got everything that I expected from this visit. Thanks Steak-N-Shake.

I am on a business trip to the Carolinas this week and was about to go to the Chic-Fil-A when I saw something on a pylon. «Try the New Royale» … Attention marketing executives throughout the world, if you name anything Royale, it will sell. So I did exactly that, I tried the Royale, and I liked it, now if you will excuse me there is a treadmill I must visit to compensate for something fairly magical. «The Good» — The Royale — Something completely and obviously not good for you and yet it tastes amazing. I am proud that I was not able to finish it all as it was ridiculous. Oh yeah, what is it you may ask? A Bacon Double Steakburger topped with a fried egg. I know they have these at the Broken Egg back at the Beach, but the timing was never right. I do not have an afternoon to give up to a nap for one thing. — Again, Real Cherry Coke. The Cherry Syrup topped with Coke, very good. — The Flyer they threw in the order has some decent stuff as well, for example Half Price Shakes and Drinks from 2 – 4. Similar to Sonic’s but I think the Shakes here are better. — Fresh fries, and the fact that the girl at the window told you that they were making fresh ones for you. I visited in between lunch and dinner hours and I would imagine that the fries would have been in a bad way at 1:30… so the new fries were appreciated. «The Meh» — Nothing really meh… a good fast(kinda fast food but higher quality) meal. «The Bad» — It is a purely Southern Chain at the moment with not that many markets up North…

Good place for a travel pit stop. Sit down service. Better than fast food and reasonable prices. A bit hard to find. Off a side road from the exit off the main road, West side of the road, behind Chic Fil A. I love their fries and the burgers and shakes are great! Bathrooms could be cleaner.
