Great food, best waffle fries I’ve had in a while. Staff is friendly, quiet and cozy.

Food was very subpar. Service was incredibly slow. Ended up taking over 1.5hrs to eat lunch for a salad and a sandwich. Food was clearly sitting in the kitchen for a while before it came out. I would look elsewhere.

Ok. I mean it’s Burlington. This place tries, but lacks a certain confidence in the kitchen. Mediocre food by any standard. Worse though because people come to Burlington to enjoy awesome food. That’s not what this place is about. Our wait was great, to be sure. So great service. Fabulous maple dessert. Blah burgers and pasta.

The outdoor seating is nice. Food is okay. Service is good. Most recently I tried their Cuban Sandwich – it was okay – but, not even remotely similar to the authentic and delicious original you’d find in Miami or Tampa. Perhaps Halvorson’s thought pulled pork on a Cuban Sandwich was a good idea? Either way, it just didn’t capture the look or taste of the traditional version.

Really great specials, especially in the summer! Solid menu with an amazing line up of local beers on tap. The back patio is amazing for a private event while the front is great for people watching yet staying away from the long waits at the bottom of church street. Our server Erin was very attentive and friendly with an outstanding knowledge of the beers on tap– the hostess seemed organized as well– even on a busy Saturday night we were able to be sat outside in about 5 minutes! Definitely worth the extra 2 minute walk up the street beyond the hustle and bustle of the lower block. We love it here!

I frequent Burlington often. Especially for the many great restaurants they have here. Halvorson’s is definitely one of my favorites i’ve tried. I have been here twice now, ordering something different each time. The food is GREAT. Really not much more to say, other than GREAT food! You will not be disappointed. The interior is very cool, Oh. and outdoor seating on Church St which is always nice! Try the burrito!

I have to be brutally honest here, I’ve loved Halverson’s from the moment I first stepped foot in the restaurant 4 years ago… I’ve had countless perfectly cooked burgers, engaging conversations over mouth water apps and tried every special! I even hosted an event in their space out back in 2013. But I am disappointed to say that their recent update to the menu has me begging for the original. I’m annoyed at the lack of creativity. It’s another local staple conforming to the tourist! Come back to us Halverson’s please oh please! I came in knowing I could take my sister in law for a meal she’d enjoy. Only to be disappointed. We ordered wings as a starter and requested them extra crispy, they arrived mushy and over dressed. We all ordered burgers at different levels of doneness — only to have them mixed up when put together for our meals. The server was overwhelmed and no where to be seen. I would continue down Church St. before stopping in here for a meal on a Saturday night.

Food was barely above airline quality. Couldn’t take more than a few bites. How do you screw up a sandwich and salad this badly?

I’d like I state right off the bat that the service was okay, our waiter Macy was polite and incredibly courteous. But… The food was so underwhelming I’m struggling to find the words to describe. We ordered a fish and chips and a «veggie stir fry». The veggie stir fry consisted of peppers, onions, rice and a teriyaki sauce; it cost $ 17. The fish and chips(simple enough) which came out so over fried that it sounded like I was biting into an apple just trying to get a piece off it, the tail ends had been fried completely through and were curling up as if dropped when frozen. I think it was the fact that we came in as a couple, ordered promptly, 15 minutes another couple came in, they ordered, and got their meal, and we still had to wait another 20 for ours. Being charged $ 17 for an item that was only peppers, onions and rice is heartbreaking, more so accompanied with such a simple dish like fish and chips that the local Irish pub could of done much better. We sent everything back and left after an hour wait with 2 other tables in the restaurant. I was thankful they comped the meal, even though the manager didn’t want to come see us initially. I would go somewhere else on church ST to eat, there’s a ton of better options.

Totally disappointed. Restaurant wasn’t even busy and I found myself waiting 25 minutes for a bowl of chili. People sitting behind us also had the same problem. I ditched after waiting way longer than is acceptable. What a joke. Terrible thing is that I have eaten here before, had a good experience and loved the food. After reading other reviews I see that lengthy waits are commonplace. What a bummer. Anyway, find somewhere else to eat on Church Street. Don’t waste your time.

This used to, many years ago, be a fantastic place to go for drinks, dinner and creative delicious SALADS. Unfortunately, that ship has sailed. While I love the back dining area(how could you not?!), the food was dismal and bore no resemblance of it’s former self. A couple of people in the party I was with a month ago complained of under-cooked burgers and my salad didn’t taste fresh or inspiring… the veggies seemed though they’d been hanging around a few days and the dish was lacking the finesse I recall previously. I was disappointed to see the food take such a nose-dive as I found it so consistently good previously. Such a bummer.

Visited Monday evening, Sept 29, 2014 at about 7pm for outside dining. Was seated promptly and ordered a beer. There was no beer or waitress after 30 minutes. Had to go inside rest. to find one. When waitress finally appeared, she none too friendly. Also the menu is very limited and has fine print in what is not available. Frustrated to the max, we departed and walked south on Church – located another restaurant and was greeted warmly and seated promptly outside. Menu had no limitations and service was excellent – even though the outside dining area was crowded. In sum, don’t waste time or $ at Halvorson’s. The attitude is one of at the very best of neglect and not caring about the customer at all. Or, for that matter, the restaurant itself. DON’T EATHERE!

I loved Halversons Upstreet Café! I went there for a late lunch, and I ordered the standard burger with fries. My fries were cooked to perfection and also perfectly salted. I always love a fry that doesn’t need ketchup to be good. The burger was one of the best I’ve ever had, excellently cooked(medium rare) and the buns were perfectly greasy. I had a great meal at Halversons, and you should too!

This place was decent. It was much more affordable than some of the other options on Church Street. My boyfriend got the steak frites. He seemed to like his. I had the pasta toss. The pasta was a bit overcooked. The service was a bit slow but not terrible. The cocktail I had was great, however my boyfriend wanted a beer and the draft list was given to us orally which made it impossible for him to decide which beer he wanted. I regret ordering the pasta but I would return to try some other things on their menu. Overall, it is great just to sit out on Church Street in Burlington anywhere during the summer.

The service was friendly and accommodating but was way too busy. They clearly needed more staff. The food was mediocre at best — pulled pork was dry, the nachos were awful and overpriced, the Cobb salad was unimaginative, and the best thing the kitchen cooked was some chicken tenders. The kitchen is incredibly inflexible — somebody in our party asked to have a bun substituted for a tortilla wrap they used elsewhere on the menu and was refused. Worse yet, one of the meals was sent out cold. Now this happens from time to time, so we sent it back, and when it came back out it was still cold. Completely unacceptable. Maybe this place is good for basics and beer, but I can’t imagine telling somebody to come here expecting even a decent meal. Stay away.

Four stars for the very friendly and attentive server. Two stars for my food at lunch. I ordered the veggie wrap. Now a good wrap is tightly packed, and the tortilla secured and tucked in well. This wrap was rather loose and immediately fell apart. In addition, it was overdressed with balsamic, so that’s all I tasted. My friends’ dishes of veggie burgers and tuna melt were well received however. Cute cozy space on the inside.

In hindsight I wished I had waited in line at Farmhouse. The fact that there were plenty of outdoor and indoor seats on a busy night should have clued us in. Service was slightly underwhelming. The draft beer and wine list were decent. The only thing keeping this from a two star review was the cheese plate. It was huge and reasonable and probably the best we had on vacation. I had the chicken burrito and my husband had the cod. Both were underwhelming. Really, other than the cheese plate the whole experience was. If I could do it again I would come here for drinks and the cheese plate and have dinner somewhere else.

While on vacation in Burlington, my family and I actually went here twice… Two nights in a row. Highlights? The soooo yummy Maple Manhattan and a great cheese board. I probably could’ve had that as my meal every night there. The atmosphere is cozy, and I’m sure the outdoor seating(right on Church Street) would be very nice, but it was raining the whole time I was there… wah waaahhh… The two waitresses we had were both very nice and helpful. The other food items I had were good, not great. Though I know my brother very much enjoyed his meal(but I don’t remember what he had…) If I lived in Burlington, I’m fairly sure I would stop in Crow Bookshop and grab a great book, then head to Halvorson’s to read over a couple manhattans… Yep. That’s my ideal life.
