I have been shopping around for carpet to re-carpet a couple rooms in our home. When I went to Great Floors, I was somewhat disappointed. I was looking for a specific brand of carpet that I had researched and already decided to use in our house. The set up of the showroom is terrible, in that there are desks in front of many of the displays. So the display for the carpet I was looking at was completely blocked by a salesperson meeting with another customer going over their carpet choices.(Not to mention, the salesperson’s dog was laying directly in front of the display, so even if I wanted to try to squeeze past the desk to see the samples, the dog was in the way anyway). Another salesperson approached me and asked if they could help. I told the person specifically what I was looking for. I said I had been looking at this particular brand for my house, but was wondering if he could tell me the differences between that and a comparable brand they carried. He couldn’t…instead he showed me a completely different brand of carpet that wasn’t what I had been looking for. He didn’t seem knowledgeable about any of the product(carpet brands, features, carpet pads, pricing, installation costs, etc…). He told me that he «thought» installation costs about $ 6 per square foot, and that removal of old carpet was about $ 0.25 per square foot… what? If installation is $ 6 per square foot, that is a rip off, but whatever… I didn’t say anything more about it. I said I would just look around the store a little bit more to see what else they had(hoping to see the original brand I had come in to look at… yet still not able to because it was blocked by a desk where a salesperson was still consulting with a family). Before I did that, though, he suggested that instead of carpet, I use vinyl flooring since it’s so easy to clean. So… not only did I not get to even see what they had in the brand I was looking for, my questions could not be answered, and I was pointed toward a product(vinyl flooring) that was not at all what I was wanting to buy. Overall, this store has a great selection of product, but it was set up poorly, had poor service, and you could definitely find the same carpet at a better price elsewhere(I certainly did!).

My husband and I just left Great Floors and I’ll tell you that we were promptly greeted by Bill as we entered the store. I gave Bill a run down of what we were looking for to cover our bedroom, bathroom hall and family room. It was all of about 10 minutes before we decided on our flooring and walked out the door with a sample. It’s been a long time since I’ve worked with such a knowledgeable sales person with 40 years of flooring experience and am impressed at how quickly we came to a decision. I’ve been researching flooring for several weeks on the Internet and box stores and can tell you we will be purchasing thru Bill and Great Floors. We were hesitant to stop in here based on one of the other reviews but I’m very glad we did!

After having an extremely bad flooring experience from a different dealer, I have been wary of having another job done. Great Floors Burlington staff was truly ‘great’ every time I came in to shop. They allowed me to just browse without pressuring me, answered questions about various carpet qualities when I needed help, and never tried to steer me to a pricier product that did not suit the active area being covered. They were always pleasant and respectful. Their prices were competitive with other dealers in the area.(Some were cheaper, some were more expensive, but the ‘cheaper’ folks had scary shops and odd attitudes) My job involved both carpet and vinyl, all was done in one day with no problems, no mess afterward, and it all looks great! Seaming well done and transition areas well done also. We would use them again for another flooring job, without hesitation.

I went into Great Floors to check on pricing for acacia hardwood flooring. The sales lady showed me two different samples. When I asked if they had anything else in a darker shade, she was extremely condescending in her answer«You can’t tell a tree how to grow.» Wow… Now that’s service. Even worse, as I shopped around I heard the sound of cards being shuffled across the showroom as the two sales associates sat at their desk playing cards while myself and another couple looked at samples with no one around to answer any questions. As I left, I said goodbye to the two sales associates that were engulfed in their card game. It must have been a great game! No one responded back. I would definitely call this Not-So-Great Floors.
