I convinced my husband to have lunch here instead of our«regular» restaurant. Hadn’t been here before. We stopped to check it out, hoping to bring the family the next time for dinner. I heard it was a bar also so with children I wanted to make sure it was family-friendly. I can get to specifics from the start but those are not why I can only offer 1 star. My spouse ordered the special(½ slab of ribs with mashed potatoes and corn) and I ordered a burger. When our food was placed down I should have taken a picture. Embarrassing for an establishment to offer less than 3 of the smallest ribs as a ½ slab. They did not even constitute a child’s portion, seriously. The cook knew almost every customer that came in by name. He has a voice that carries so we heard everything including him say he «gives larger portions for his regulars» as he conversed with a «regular». Our point is – being a new customer how do you become a «regular» with the tiny portion we received while we saw the plates ALL of the others portions at least 6 ribs each if not more? We left there kind of flabbergasted and confused but we know for sure we will not ever be one of his regulars. There are other reasons for 1 star but without lengthening this review this is our main reason.

I eat lunch here most days. The food is homemade. The french onion soup in the winter months is the best I have ever had! The lunch special is very reasonable and usually includes a homemade desert. I particularly like the pumpkin squares! The other soups are also homemade and very good. The Friday fish fry is very good as well as the cheese curds.
