Cook Out

It’s cheap greasy food. You can’t really complain about the food when your paying nothing for it. Milkshakes are the reason I go, as all of you know pick whatever flavors you want they will make. Cajun season on the fries are also a good decision.

As first timers the lady in the drive they was super patient and helpful with suggestions. The chicken burger was awesome! The fries were amazing… No one wanted to share with anyone else. The shake, good lord the shake! I ordered a cherry cheesecake shake. It tasted like they took a ice of cherry cheesecake and blended it with ice cream to a shake consistency. It was perfection! I would consider moving south of only to utilize this place.
Pretty inexpensive too! I look forward to the day when we are in a reasonable driving distance of this place!

My family just relocated to NC. After searching the area and trying different places we have finally found our favorite spot! Cook out is by far the best fast food joint around.
They serve the food hot and fresh every time and use a quality ingredients not to mention the prices are unbeatable!!! Don’t even get me started on the shakes. Every bite is a little taste of heaven.

This is not a taco place or a chicken place. This is where you get the best hamburger in the area (outside a restaurant). The burgers are HUGE, hot, and very tasty. The fries are HUGE, hot, and better than any drive through. There are a hundred shake flavors. For drive through food — this beats Mickey D’s; Burger King, and Sonic with one hand tied behind its back. I always get the standard — lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles burger with cheese. Molto bene!

Have no idea about the food. My son (an Elon student) made me go get a milkshake. It was awesome. And only $ 2.98. Navigating the two drive-​thru lanes was an experience as well.

NC loves COOKOUT and it is easy to see why. They make delicious milk shakes using vanilla soft serve blended with whichever sweet additions you choose. Real milkshakes for about $ 3 each. Service is relatively quick.

When you order, you have a 1 in 100 chance of them actually getting the order right. I have also gotten into arguments with them trying to tell them the flavor of the milkshake I want and they don’t know what I am talking about, even though I am reading it straight from the menu. Overall, pretty bad for a cookout. They also charge a lot more for the hamburgers and trays than the one in Sanford.

This is a fast food chain that I wish was close by! Whenever I’m in NC, I always go. I love their hush puppies and shakes! The hush puppies are cheap for a dozen, and so flavorful and crunchy! The shakes are thick and delicious, and you can get so many mix ins. Yum! One thing that sucked about it was that I have ordered a grilled cheese from Cook Out in the past, but this one wouldn’t do it. It isn’t on the menu but is possible with cheese and a bun! Oh well — I managed to make a meal of the hush puppies and a shake!

Not knowing what I was doing I was just like I’ll follow the lead of the others with me and go with this tray. I got a spicy chicken sandwich, fries, and hush puppies. It took for-​fucking-​ever to order at the drive through though because their speakers are horrible and I don’t think the people working there are very good at communicating around it. So it took so much time.
So yeah, it’s fast food. The hushpuppies were pretty good, the fries weren’t that great. The spicy chicken sandwich reminded me a lot of whatever the really cheap Wendy’s chicken sandwich is. Not like it’s a bad thing, just it wasn’t OMG!1111 like I’ve been lead to believe about the food. But holy shit it’s cheap.
Except…there is nothing bad to say about CHEERWINE FLOATS. I was addicted upon first sip.
This is a tiny one with nowhere to even eat outside. We ended up going across the street to the mall and eating in the car. They don’t have the quesadillas either which my brother has been talking up to me for ages.

This is my go to fast food spot for burgers, chicken, onion rings, fries, and shakes.
I don’t think I’ve had anything that’s not good from cookout.

Great burgers, order their specials, lot of food with options at good price. Service is quite fast and efficient.

YUMMY! This isn’t like having fast food. Tasted fresh and it was really great!

The food, pricing, and open hours are amazing at this location. The employees generally do not listen to your order, so it is really hit or miss. The place is amazing. but beware that you need to check your bag before you pull off. I would rate this location 5 star, but again sadly the employees usually just do not care and get annoyed when they forget items on your order.

So, even with the crummy service and lack of customer service skills, I have made multiple returns to this establishment in hopes of things improving. Sadly, they have only accomplished to go from bad to worse! Tonight I went through the drive-​thru and ordered 2 big double burger with cheese trays «cook-​out style without onions», for the sides on one of the trays I ordered onion rings and a corn dog, on the other tray I ordered double corn dogs. I also asked for two orders of chicken nuggets. I was asked THREE TIMES to repeat my order!!! Finally, after doing everything except spelling out the my order, the girl repeats my order back to me. I even went ahead and requested some mustard for my corn dogs while at the speaker, since they ALWAYS give me attitude at the window when I ask for it as if I have totally just put them out! I made it through the line quickly and once I get to the window, I’m given my drinks, then the window slams shut and I’m left waiting for 6 minutes without a word from anyone inside. When the girl finally comes back, she opens the window without speaking ONE word, passes me the two trays and a bag and looks at me with a blank stare as if to suggest «that’s it, now get out of the drive-​thru». I asked her if she put the mustard I asked for in the bag and she looks at me like I just asked her to recite the United States Constitution backwards. She then hands me some mustard and slams the window shut! NO apology for making me wait for 6 minutes while the other side of the drive-​thru had already served 5 other cars while I’ve sat there waiting for who knows what. I get home and unwrap my burgers and NOT one single, solitary slice of cheese on either of my 2 double burgers WITH cheese, which is what I ordered AND what she repeated back to me! Also, not even given a single napkin with this entire order. I will NEVER go back. I was so hoping they would get better, but if you compare my previous review with this updated one, you will see they are consistently incompetent and simply do NOT care how they treat their customers. I’m posting pictures of my burgers and receipt from tonight as well.

Best burgers and milkshakes in the entire region!!! Always a must stop when I visit town!!! Our last visit we had an incredibly large and difficult order and the drive thru attendant got it perfectly to a T. Very impressive!!!

We love the burgers and hotdogs. Shakes are delicious and the hush puppies are tasty. Great place to get your food «cook out style» which is mustard, chili, onions and slaw — the way hotdogs and hamburgers are supposed to be served.
Only drive thru, but that is not a problem. Serving up some of the best fast food in North Carolina.

Amazing food, idiot employees. It has literally been years since this cookout has gotten my order right (yes I know what literally means). I also understand that it is fast food and I shouldn’t expect too much, but Jesus! The Cookout Facebook page won’t let me post and cookout has no official website so I will deal with my anger here. I always order the same thing: large out west style cheese burger with no pickles and no onions. Guess what… I got pickles and onions. (Be warned. I am going to post here every time that my order is wrong. I’m not looking for an apology or free food. I just want to go home with what I ordered.) keep an eye on the photos section

Cook Out is awesome. This place is no different.
Their BBQ is solid, their burgers are great, and their milkshakes are my absolute favorite.
I’m always excited when July and August roll around, because then they bring out the watermelon milkshakes. It may not sound appealing, but trust me, it is the bomb. Especially on a hot summer day. Another perk about Cook Out is you can mix your milkshake flavors. It’s genius. And delicious.
Just writing about it makes me want to go get some now.
One downside is this Cook Out (and most others) don’t have any, or have very little, seating area, and if they do have places to sit, it’s usually outside.
