My husband I have been going to Ace hardware for many years. I called on Sunday afternoon at 3:57 and asked what time they closed. I was told in 2 minutes. I told them we literally live next door and could we come right over because we had a plumbing emergency. Well If you come over within 2 minutes. I was told by a very rude person. I asked if they could just wait until he got there and was told the store was closed. We have been extremely loyal patrons for a long time, and have spent a lot of money in the store. We believe in supporting small business. Well not anymore. So Bibens ace sets itself apart from the big box stores. Well big box stores here we come. And proper customer service lessons should be taught to employees. We won’t be back.

A good neighborhood hardware store is my version of Proust’s madeleine. That I can walk or bicycle to this one makes me extremely happy. It’s where I stock up on bird seed, furnace filters, and WD40. This summer I bought a cast iron pan there. The staff is mostly friendly and always ready to help. One time I went in about five minutes before they closed and one of the clerks was rather aggressive about getting me in and out (tip: just tell the customers you’re closing shortly — no need for force). But otherwise they’re terrific.
Abundant parking, convenient hours (open seven days!) and location (next to a grocery store and post office!) for folks in the New North End.

The only store I’ve visited, hardware or otherwise, that has free popcorn. Cool beans! Very friendly service, well organized and blessedly air-​conditioned. Pick up tools, screws, nails, etc. or get a key copied.

Ive been going to this hardware store for many years. There staff is very knowledgeable. And they have everything from blenders to lawn mowers. And they even copy keys! Not a place to get lumber but a good place to find that odd sized bolt u have been looking for!
