Tony and Bob Independent

Great service and genuinely interested in solving the mysterious problems my jetta has been having. I still haven’t gotten to the bottem of it however with there help it doesn’t die on the freeway anymore so thats a plus :) and they are pretty resonable and realistic!

It’s really hard to find an affordable mechanic for my Mercedes… and one that you TRUST!
Bob is wonderful. He really is «As good as it gets!»
Not only is he a great mechanic but a really good, trustworthy guy!
Bob has saved me over and over again with my car. First started going to Bob because he was my neighbor and gave me tips about my tires. I already had a mechanic but decided to switch when my car died for the 2^nd time after my major services. Started to think there was something shady going on with my old mechanic (in Milpitas off Dixon. don’t go there!)
Bob is great… I probably over-​do it cause I call or text him for everything but he’s super nice about it!
I have recommended Tony & Bob’s to a lot of friends… and now recommend them to fellow UnilocalERS!

They say in life, you need to know one good car mechanic, one good plumber, one good doctor, and one good lawyer. My good mechanic is Tony. Honest man, honest work. Ever since I brought my cars to Tony’s, none of them unexpectedly breaks down anymore. And my «youngest» car is a 2000. Tony specializes in german cars, but he also takes care of my Acura. :)

Looks like my last review got filtered, not sure why though. Anyhow, I wanted to post an update regarding the quality of Tony and Bob. In a nutshell, I’d give these guys 10 stars if I could.
Prior to my last service, Bob let me know what would be some things on my car I may want to have done soon, such as changing my tires to suit the upcoming season, to having my timing belt changed. Without any hesitation, I brought the car in for them to work on, and the timing was perfect.
We recently had light showers, which weren’t bad, but made for quite a few accidents and bad driving. Thanks to my last tune up with these guys, I was able to avoid what would have been two accidents.
Tony and Bob really do look out for their customers, and like a previous review mentioned, they’ll tell you what you can do to help maintain your car, and cut costs. Bottom line? These are the guys to go to.

i had been neglecting maintenance on my car for about a year now. even when the rear brakes started to squeal, you’d think i would have taken it in. nope. i was in denial. plus we just moved back and didn’t know where to go; nowhere convenient; didn’t have the time; etc. i made every excuse possible to delay the inevitable. however, when the brakes started screeching — like metal on metal — i knew i was in deep doodoo. i couldn’t postpone it any longer. i didn’t want to go to the dealership b/​c i knew i’d pay through the nose.
i was reminded that my cousin had an auto body shop: tony and bob independent. duh. although i live in brisbane, work in san leandro and chauffeur my daughter around sf, bob was really flexible in accommodating my crazy schedule.
my car ended up needing front and rear brake pads, rear brake rotors, oil and air filters, and an oil change. yup. oh, and it also needs new rear tires. i know. bob was very honest on what i needed, how much it would cost, what and where i can save. he even showed me the brake pad and rotor to see how badly worn they were.
bob made what could have been a very painful and expensive situation into a very pleasant experience. so if you ever need a mechanic or need your car serviced, go to tony and bob independent for great honest service at reasonable rates. you can’t go wrong with them.

i have had 2 Porsches, 1 BMW, 2 Mercedes and 1 Mazda Miata all done here with Tony.
Tony is VERY good with what he does. He is an expert with Mercedes especially those Diesel engines!
he is also very honest and really can foresee problems before it occurs!
I’ve always had my car’s every oil change here. while doing the oil change, Tony will replace anything he sees that needs to be replaced.
I just pick up the car and ask how much, cause my car has NEVER broken down anywhere! all of them run forever almost because that oil change i do all the time, also kept the car in excellent shape
price wise they are cheaper than dealerships, but not that cheap cause we are dealing mostly with European imports!
but i think the MOST important is honesty, cause I’ve ran into some really scandal mechanics out there i don’t even want to talk about anymore!
Also i wanna mention Tony and Bob, they are very down to earth people! Nice people with nice hearts too, and a place I can definitely trust with my beloved vehicles!

My family and I have used Tony and Bob Independent on many occasions also and have never had any problems whatsoever! Very reliable, very honest and consided Bob our family mechanic! He specializes in the Big Body Benz but we have always brought him other models and does a supreme job on them! So I applaud «Tony and Bob Independent» for being independent mechanics that you can trust!

This is the place if you are looking for an independent mechanic on the peninsula that you can trust to take your German car and save tons of $$$ compared to a dealer.
Referred from a friend years ago and they have always been honest and straightforward. They even tell you ways to save money if you don’t need essential work done (How many places will do that!!!) Its a small place so you will need to arrange transportation to and from.
They do about 90% of their work on Mercedes Benz, but I have always taken my Bimmers there and was always pleased.
