All we ordered here was an appetizer sampler and a couple of glasses of wine. We waited 10 minutes until the waiter asked if we ordered wine. Another 15 minutes after, our food came. The waiter did apologize for the wait and said it was busy. If you seen the amount of vacant tables there, you would of laughed at the waiter. The only thing good about it was the 20% off coupon we got from the bartender from happy hour. It really helped out with their high prices. The food was okay.

Minor update: We called the next day to give them some feedback considering how poor of an experience it was. They were apologetic and sent us a $ 100 gift card in the mail. Unfortunately, it’ll go to waste. – OK, this is a harsh review. I admit. But I don’t do these often but this place really bugged me. That said, … The bad: 1. Heater broken, A/C was on. They wouldn’t turn off the fan 2. Pizza was store bought pizza. Think Safeway brand — only worse 3. Prime Rib — overcooked. I asked for medium and it came well done. «We only have medium-well and well done.» Geez, think you could have mentioned that when I was ordering? On top of it all, they had the gall to charge $ 26 — for well done prime rib. 4. Spaghetti with salmon and prawns: no flavor at all. 5. Service — there were all of 4 groups in the restaurant and we waited too long considering. 6. Overcharged on final bill 7. Oh, and the prime rib made me sick for 24 hours after just four bites The good: 1. Nice view 2. Waiter tried to make things better — comped me a free prime rib(that I didn’t want… i was already feeling sick) and comped us free cheesecake and coffee. Think they knew the screwed up? Hey, it’s better than nothing. So, if anyone recommends this place to you, you’ve been warned.

Food: French Onion Soup — Too salty because of excessive worcestershire sauce Tempura Onion Rings — Tasty. Cooked perfectly but then again its hard to mess up onion rings. Steakhouse Caesar — Mediocre, dressing was thick with an almost mayonnaise like consistency Grilled Ribeye — Shiitaake mushrooms were not soaked long enough in water so they were chewy. Stuffed baked potato was overcooked and outside was rubbery. Ribeye was cooked medium rare as requested but grill marks were not consistent. Service: Although the food sucked, the service was excellent and wait staff were attentive, despite the fact that they forgot to offer us house bread.

It was okay… the chopped salad would’ve been better without the salty ass olives, or whatever they were. They were in every bite which over powered the salad. I didn’t pay for my meal or drink, so not much to complain about. One of the ladies I was sharing a table with ordered the lobster ravioli, which looked like it wasn’t worth what she paid for it. I would’ve still been hungry afterwards.

We went back and got shrimp pasta, steak, and the sea bass again. The fish was again tasty, but the pasta was a disappointing clash of flavors, and the steak eater complained endlessly about how tough and untasty it was. The cheesecake was still delicious, and I was happy after drinking 45% of the 20% off wine(plus bonus tasting full glass). Also, we went after dark, so no planes landing. This visit ended with one thumb firmly down and two Mehs.

After writing a fairly negative review for The Embassy Suites– Burlingame which houses Rings and where we had our wedding, I decided to write a second review for Rings itself, since overall, everything having to do with Rings was much better than the hotel itself. We had our actually ceremony inside of Rings, and this worked out really well since we got to have a great view of the water without having to contend with the planes landing at SFO and the wind by the water. They also did the catering for our event, and the food turned out to be excellent. We were concerned that the quality wouldn’t be that great for a large group, but they really did a nice job for us, especially wih the(not so PC) sea-bass we served. Additionally, our package came with an hour of open bar in the adjacent bar, and that was great and enjoyed by all. I wouldn’t go there especially for dinner since I think it’s overpriced, but they did do a great job for us for our wedding.

But I must say that bartender is pretty cool, good drinks, good music, and a great view of the bay… No cover charge before 9pm. After 9pm its only 5 bucks, good food. I haven’t felt sorry for a server in a long time. I used to wait tables and I understand that at times you get busy, but you also ask for help from other co-workers if your slammed. So, I felt bad for our server because she was in way over her head and it reflected in her service. It took forever to get our drinks and even longer to finally order our entrees. The positive of waiting that long for our food and drinks is that I got to catch up with friends and family. I ordered the Prime Rib and it was huge. It was also one of the better Prime Ribs that I have eaten in a long time. The calamari appetizers were also great. I don’t know if I would ever go back to Rings. It is kind of like one of those ‘been there tried it’ restaurants. But you never know.

I’m there almost every Thursday after work with some co-workers. It’s a great place to sit back, have a couple manhattans and enjoy the view of the Bay. The bartender, Armando, is certainly the nicest guy around, but Marcia, the cocktail waitress is unbelievably funny and courteous. I don’t know if I come here for the drinks or just to listen to her talk. I always have the calamari, which are breaded in panko flakes, and comes with cocktail sauce, and garlic aioli. On Fridays, this place turns into a small club.(This used to be Bobby Magee’s) They have a great DJ that will always keep the music going all night. They place a variety of music, from hip hop, salsa, or reggeton. Last time, I was there for a friends birthday, and he kept giving her birthday shout outs all night long! One last thing, watch our for the security guys, they can be assholes at times, Don’t bring your drink on the dance floor, don’t take off your shoes, grind your girl on the floor, or pass out on the dance floor, they will ask you to leave, that’s what I had to do to get escorted out !

Update: 05÷15÷08 What a difference managment makes. They have all new managment for Rings Bar and Grill. Belive me it makes a big difference. He saw what potential the bar could bring so they have now brought the music back. Fridays is Salsa/Merengue Night and Saturday is mixture of all kinds. They also now have happy hour from 4pm-7pm. With a bigger selection of appetizers. Count on seeing me Friday nights. My two stars are now back to four stars! ______________________________________________ Update: 06÷01÷07 This place has gone to the dumps since the last visit. No more music, DJ, entertainment Friday and Saturdays. Bar tenders are still there and nice as ever but management sucks. I will only go to support the bar tenders but management needs to wake up. Dont come here! My review is down to 2 stars from my previous 4. ____________________________________________________ 4 stars for Rings Bar. Food is drinks are fantastic. Especially the friendly bartenders Armando and Arleen. Now they know how to make drinks! Their Long Islands and Mojitos are the best. We always get the Calamari a basket of Parmesans french fries for starters and either have the shrimp salmon pasta dish or the bacon burger. Remember this is a Hotel Bar so it will be pricey but well worth it. The only down fall they have is the manager, he is very rude to the staff in front of customers. Very unprofessional. Oh and I cant forget about Marsha the waitress, what a hoot! Shes a barrel of laughs very nice and generous.

The food… 3 stars, but I have to give an extra star for the gorgeous view of the bay. My mom loves to eat here and she thinks the food is mucho excellente! LoL. Um, it’s good… NOT crazy good… but good. This is a nice place to take a date… which reminds me, I haven’t been on a date in years! BLEHHHHHHH! That’s fine though, it’s worth eating here alone… I would spend good money on myself to eat here. Pretty, pretty, pretty view… and how we LOVE pretty! =)~

Rings had great food. Or maybe I was really hungry. I got a simply penne bolognese, which is pretty hard to mess up if you’ve got a starving girl waiting. The ambiance is nice, it’s very fancy pants. The lighting is also very flattering. This hotel is a little hard to get to, and the parking is not great. But there was also a beautiful view of the water from out table. It was gorgeous with the twinkling lights at night.
