Lou’s Makeup Design

I truly loved having Lou do my makeup for some website photos I was having done by Portraits to the People. First, she is straight up nice and a joy to talk with. Down to earth and completely personable. She checked in to get a feel for the look I wanted and knew absolutely what to do to make me ‘camera ready.’ I loved how my photos turned out and now can’t wait to hire her again to teach me how to apply makeup for everyday.
She came to my house, brought everything, has totally reasonable rates. Responded promptly to emails. Very professional. Can’t wait to work with her again.

I absolutely love Lou and her work! She did my make-​up for my wedding in July 2012 and I couldn’t have been happier. Lou was recommended to me by a friend and I would highly recommend her to others as well. Here’s why:
1) Lou was super helpful and responsive prior to the wedding. She not only would answer questions about wedding related stuff but even provide everyday make-​up tips.
2) The makeup itself was so beautiful. It looked so natural and you couldn’t tell I had acne scars. Not just that but Lou also gave me a small sample of a powder I could use as touch-​up on the wedding day since my skin gets oily very quickly
3) After a lot of convincing, my mom agreed to get make-​up done by Lou who she hadn’t met until the wedding day. My mom who never gets make up done professionaly and hardly applies any make up herself was so pleased with Lou’s work. Knowing that my mom isn’t big on make up, Lou tailored the make-​up she applied on her by keeping it so subtle and beautiful that my mom looked radiant!
4) My sister who did not sign up to get professional make up done had a change of heart after she saw Lou’s work. She was so happy with this really beautiful make up Lou did for her. Unlike my mom, my sis was very comfortable with getting eye make up that stood out and she looked stunning! This also goes on to show that Lou adapts her make up according to her client’s needs. Not to forget, Lou was so good with time management and punctuality that she could fit my sis in at the last minute.
5) Lou is such a good soul and sweet person. Just having someone like her around right before you walk down the aisle is great plus! I truly admire her as a person and she is the kind of person you would like to grab a coffee with and chat.
I didn’t have a traditional wedding with bridesmaids so Lou did make up for myself, my mom, my sis, and mom-​in-​law and I can safely say that it’s not just me but all of us who would recommend her any time, any day!

I first met Lou when I was looking for help with buying/​applying makeup both for everyday use and for my engagement photos. She was so wonderful at showing me how to do my own makeup (I’m terrible at applying myself and I usually leave makeup counters more confused than when I started!). She was was so energetic, but not pushy and really patient. She’s a great teacher!
Lou also did makeup for my wedding, along with the moms and a whole troop of bridesmaids. Everything came out great! My makeup looked natural and not overdone in person, but also looked elegant in the photos. She was really good at listening to what everyone wanted, including those who rarely wear a lot of makeup. In fact, a couple of bridesmaids who had decided ahead of time to skip the professional makeup changed their minds on the day of after seeing how everyone else turned out!
Lou was also very responsive and professional during the planning, and was on time and awesome the day of. I highly recommend her!

I contacted Lou to do my makeup for some fun, yet professional, head shots with Sarah from Portraits to the People. Lou responded within a couple hours of my inquiry and the rest is history! She came to my house the following week and worked her magic. During the time she was applying my makeup she was explaining what she was doing and how certain makeup tricks translate well through a camera’s lens. She was right.
I am very happy with how my makeup turned out and I am planning on using her again for future photo opportunities and/​or special events.

I just photographed a wedding that Lou was the makeup artist for. I have never met Lou before this but I would recommend her in a heartbeat. She was prompt easy to work with and did I mention how easy she made my job? I barely had to retouch. The make up was the perfect blend of natural and elegant.
