I’m a natural blonde w/limited ‘upkeep’ time, outdoors a lot and hair was getting frizzy/fried from salt, chlorine, etc. and only looked good when I’d take time to flat iron.(who has time for that?) My new BFF? Keratin. Allegra at Avenue Styles recommended I try it to tame the beast, and it literally has made it so I can ‘blow and go’ carving YEARS off my ‘look’ as it actually looks healthy/smooth and coiffed even tho I’ve done zilch in extra time. Keratin treatments ARE pricey, so I only do a ‘full’ a couple times a year, though it stays in pretty well, and they can do ‘partials’ too. I also use them to weave in «lowlights/highlights» periodically,(again the sun/outdoor elements make it look better when Allegra tones it DOWN so there’s not contrast) and they’re excellent with ‘color’ and candor!(«nope, that cut won’t work well w/your hair type» or «yes, I can do that, but it’s more upkeep than you’re willing to do, I guarantee it») They never oversell or overdo so that I can forego it altogether if my budget precludes(vs salons where demarcation/root line/skunk stripes force repeat visits)…But their knowledge and application of KERATIN is clearly a game-changer and there’s no way in hades I’m ever giving it up. Wish I could attach before/after photos, as this salon knows their stuff and I trust them implicitly. I write very few reviews, but when I do, it’s a shoutout from the rafters and there’s a reason why. This is one of those times. p. s. Been going here for 11+ years; referred when my daughter was in elem school and I’d admired a mom’s healthy looking hair on the playground when she replied, ‘um, actually, it’s completely grey/fried naturally, it only looks blonde and healthy because I have a really REALLY good salon.’ Boom. Snagged the name, been going ever since and now my teen is outbound for college…

The salon set up is great — a cute house and just a couple of blocks from downtown Burlingame. Very nice inside. I think they just updated a lot of things. France has been cutting my hair for years and she is excellent.

I’ve been going to see France here since I was a virgin. Virgin hair that is ;). That was at least 6 yrs ago and never turned back. Never a bad haircut, color or highlight. I have long coarse thick hair and I don’t know how she does it but I always leave the salon with the softest silkiest and shiniest hair girls like us dream of. The salon is nice too. It’s nice and clean and busy during the days but its not pretentious like most of the other salons in the area. And theirs plenty of free parking too.

I went to Maria at Avenue Styles after recently moving to the area an finding her through Unilocal. She did a fantastic job on my hair– great highlights and really solid cut. She was extremely responsive and very easy to schedule with and super easy to talk to. I would recommend her to anyone. Her prices are extremely reasonable for the area. She would be a really good person to hire for an event as well(wedding and otherwise) because she is so personable and flexible. So glad I found her!

I have been going to Sheri Bass for as long as I can remember. She moved to Avenue Styles Salon from another salon in Burlingame a year or so ago and her other clientele and I followed her to this new, beautiful salon. Sheri has a commitment to making the customer feel happy and comfortable with their hair, something that cannot be said about all stylists. She does both men’s and women’s hair, so my mom and whole family go to her as well. One time, a friend of mine botched her own dye job and I took her to Sheri who fixed everything. In all of the years I have gone to her, she has never made me unhappy. Her clients all love her, both for her cutting and styling skills as well as her personableness. I know she was trained by the best and most famed stylists in San Francisco, and her work definitely shows it.

I can’t say enough positive things about Avenue Styles Salon. I began seeing Alegra(the salon owner) back in 2006 after admiring a friend’s haircut. I started going gray at the tender age of 16 and have the most difficult resistant gray hair. I was so fed-up with going to pricey salons in the area that frequently left me with hot-roots(when the roots are lighter at the scalp of the head) or the color wouldn’t stick to my hair exposing gray hair days later. Alegra is very experienced and takes the time to understand her client’s hair. Did I mention her personality? Very friendly and a joy to be around. Located in an old converted bungalow on Bayswater in Burlingame, free parking is plentiful!

So, this isn’t the most swankiest salon, but I don’t care, because my stylist, Deborah Reid, is genius. I have curly(Irish) ringlets, and Deborah does curly hair right. Also, before I started seeing Deborah several years ago… I was a hair color virgin(except for an unfortunate Sun-In incident when I was 8, but I digress). Anyway, Deborah listens to what you want, takes into account your lifestyle and how often you want to come back to her, and makes it happen. There’s a reason that I serious would not trust ANYONE else with my hair. Deborah’s great(and she gives a mean head massage when she washes your hair too!). Bonus: This place has every trashy gossip magazine on the planet. Love it. If you are tired of your stylist or want color with a little bit more«pop,» go see Deborah. You won’t regret it.

The girls are all highly experienced as stylists, colorists, and cutters. The salon has been recently remodeled and is air conditioned. There is free parking. The stations are rented on a full or part time basis. Ask for Allegra
