Meet Your CM: Picnic in the Vineyard

To no surprise, another good Unilocal event. The vineyard was pretty, the wine good, good food and peaceful. The vineyard had ample parking greeted you immediately with rows of grapes. It opened up to a great space that looked perfect for events with a wide open lawn area, covered patio area and small shop.
The food was available by one that I can’t remember at the moment but their fried macaroni was good. The staff polite and the lime moved fairly quickly.
The vineyard provided us with a tour of the grounds and wine making process. The man leading the tour was very sweet and he happily answered questions from the visitors.

This place is sooooooo chill! I’ve been to my fair share of wineries– and they almost always feel snooty or uptight to some degree. Maybe it was the laid back staff. or all the cool Unilocalers. or all the wine! Either way I was feeling it.
After Heli, Kendall and Anna checked us in we snagged a second row table and set up our packed picnic. I wonder if they always allow you to bring food in? I later noticed the cheese plates they sell are upwards to $ 15– but probably worth it so you don’t have to carry an icebox around.
We immediately went inside to do the flight tasting and settled on the Blanc du Bois– fabulous wine!!! From the description I didn’t think it would be my favorite but it was the winner.
I’ll say it since nobody else has– that was the weirdest movie I’ve ever seen! Just me? Anyone? I will admit I’ve been talking about it alot, so it made an impression lol. I really loved the lights strung up in the trees too– this would be a great wedding venue.
Lee’s Grilled Cheese was serving grilled mac– oh man how I love that place! I’ve never tried Gepetto’s before but it was lovely. I’m so glad they were there.

What an amazing way to spend my Friday night at Lost Oak Winery. My first time at a winery was a good experience its so warm and cozy I love it!. I had fun doing the wine tasting! I found one of my favorite wines Blanc du Bois. It was sweet but not to sweet and crisp just how I like it. I really enjoyed the movie «Wet Hot American Summer» so funny and different what a great pick. I been telling everyone about this movie and want them to see it, its crazy funny. I think this will be a great date night place cant wait to come back especially since I missed the tour of the winery. Thank you Lee’s Grill Cheese and Gepetto’s Pizza Truck for yummy food! The mystery mac n cheese was good.

I loved the wine, outside movie and food! Whoever picked hot wet American summer really gets my sense of humor!
The weather and location couldn’t have been better!
We bought two yummy bottles of wine! I appreciated that we could bring our own food… Even though we bought a pizza too! The sample from Lee’s grilled cheese was amazing! Definitely not on my diet.
Joseph and I will be back to lost oak soon for a day date.

Ok, I“m a fan of these Unilocal events. Why, you ask? Welllll…
I get to venture out and see places, like Lost Oak that I’ve never heard of or seen and experience them up close. By the way, Lost Oak is a beautiful vineyard with a great and friendly staff. We got an ice bucket to chill our sweet, palate pleasing wine in a cute bucket. Yea, this place made this grown man use the word «cute» Deal with it. Unilocal event greatness!
The movie shown during this event was hilarious, and we were right up front. It was a funny summer flick, and it was just cool to see a movie outside. It reminded this guy of his days in summer camp. Plenty of tables with seating for a group, but not too much. The event was able to keep that feeling of intimacy, like watching a movie with a group of your 30 or 40 closest friends. In a word, this event was cool.
Oh, the Unilocal goodies. Oh yes, the Unilocal goodies. I have a pile growing at home, and I’ve taken to calling it «my precious» Those sugar free mints are really good too. On a side note, I have to watch my sugar, but I still love these little treats.
The food trucks gave us some delicious plates, and it was a fun way to spend the night. I loved my Lee’s Grilled Cheese sample so much, I went back for a full size. I never even heard of grilled mac and cheese until this Friday, but I’m hooked. It was a great way to break up the creaminess and introduces a slightly charred texture. Simply, delicious.
Thank you to Kendall and Heli for this event. Y’all introduced me to a vineyard near my house, and this wine lover is seriously appreciative.

My lovey and I are in a winery/​wine-​tasting/​wine phase, and were thrilled when we heard about this Unilocal event! We couldn’t wait to see what the night had to unfold.
As is typical of passionate Unilocal Community Managers, Kendall and Heli took great care of us. We were greeted at the entrance and told to find a seat and make ourselves comfortable. Unilocaley frisbees and wine bottle openers adorned the tables.
One of the things I noticed was that I immediately felt relaxed at Lost Oak Winery. The winery is on quite a bit of land, and the ambiance is so relaxing. Outside and under the covered patio, there were many places to sit or spread a blanket and picnic basket. When the sun set and the sky darkened, beautiful lights twinkled brightly and lit up the wooden fences and part of the patio. I loved the setting so much I was raving about it all evening. I can’t wait to go back to commune with nature – and of course, drink a little wine. :-)
The event was neat – we got to see a tour of the vineyard, which consisted mainly of a demonstration. I do wish that the tour had been announced to those who were doing the tasting inside – we were so wrapped up in it that we left the tasting late and had to run to catch up with the tour guide!
The tour/​demo itself was very cool, and the owner was so friendly. He took the time to explain the process as well as ask if we had any questions about the process I never knew it took so many people to make wine! There were at least 6 people raking grapes out of a gigantic container and extracting juice from the grapes.
After the tour we redeemed our tickets for samples at Lee’s Grilled Cheese. The mac and cheese was the bombs! I am going to have to make a trip out to Lee’s Grilled Cheese to try their mac and cheese sammie! Man oh man! I do wish they’d stayed a little longer. I got a crainvg for mac and cheese after the movie started, and they were packing up to leave. :-(
Gepetto’s pizza was yummy-​we liked both the brisket and pepperoni pizzas. Tasted great with our wine – we sipped Summer Holiday, a spicy, warm red wine. So good.
Speaking of wine, the tasting was great. You got 5 tastings and if you bought a bottle of wine, the tasting was free. My favorite wine of the evening was the Sweet Moscato, which had a very floral taste to it.
Great event! Can’t wait for the next!

This was a fun event outdoors with wine and friends, who could ask for a better night? The wines were really good, and the owner was really nice. He gave us a tour of the place and showed us how wine was made. It was nice to catch up with Unilocalers I haven’t seen in a while, and it was nice to just relax on a cute patio with some wine.

Who would have known that tucked away in Burleson, Texas there was a cute little vineyard? The boyfriend and I came by to check this place out, and we’re glad we did! Upon arrival, your drive into Lost Oak will guide you through a small row of their harvest. The house is where all the tastings and wine are stored, but they also have a great patio to host events.
Admittedly, I had no expectations as I have never been to a winery before, but the Lost Oak staff were extremely hospitable. To start our night, we checked out the wine tasting, which featured 5 samples of wine either catering toward the «sweet and light» or the «dry and sour» palate. Of course, I opted for the sweet and light :) It’s a super informative tasting because they provide you with a sheet detailing the flavor profiles in each wine as well as the alcohol by volume and the residual sugar percentage. What really stood out to me were the Rose, Riesling, and the Sweet Grass for the sweet flavors — I almost didn’t think I was drinking wine with 12−14% alcohol content. Ultimately, I caved in and purchased the Sweet Grass and hope to break it out at an upcoming family celebration: D
The food trucks on site (Lee’s Grilled Cheese and Gepetto’s Pizza Truck) were also fantastic! My favorite of the night was my boyfriend’s «build your own» personal pizza topped with Canadian bacon and pineapple from Gepetto’s. It was about 8″ in diameter and was a great size to share. It came out piping hot, and you KNOW pizza is good when the cheese stretches just a bit until it finally breaks from the neighboring slices. Truly impressed that it even came out of a truck!
Many thanks to the CMs Heli and Kendall for setting up such a fun event! I can’t believe this little gem is in the metroplex, and I definitely look forward to coming back and to discover other local gems via future CM events: D

This was a really fun way to spend a Friday night. Open air, good wine, and good people to pass the time with.
I had never seen the movie «Wet Hot American Summer». But thought it was cute and pretty funny.
I ordered the mystery grilled Mac and cheese, and didn’t find anything mysterious about it. Just grilled caramelized cheese perfection. Yummy pasta and cheese. So a big thank you to Lee’s Grilled Cheese. We also got a Gepetto’s pepperoni pizza and loved it. Nicely done crust, melty bubbly cheesy goodness. I just love it when you get pepperoni that have gone crispy at the edges. Gepetto’s sent out some delicious Friday night eats.
The Lost Oak vineyard itself was beautiful. Gentle hills, vines, and Christmas lights contributed to a very homey/​picturesque place. Really cool break up from the monotony of the city.
So the one thing I was taken aback by was how no complimentary tasting was offered (would two tastes be outlandish?). We did buy two bottles that were sweet and refreshing, but I would have loved to sample some more of what the place had to offer. I think I’ve become a little too expectant of the perks these events have to offer, I still think it just would have been nice.
As per the reg, cool swag! I might have let out an actual Unilocal when I saw the wine openers.

I was looking forward to this event for some time and it did not disappoint! Lost Oak provided us with a lovely backdrop to drink wine, eat pizza, and watch Wet, Hot American Summer. I also enjoyed the opportunity to tour the winery… it was cool getting to view part of the wine-​making process. The tour staff were very informative and enthusiastic, despite the fact they’d been out in the heat since early in the morning.
Gepetto’s pizza hit the spot. I got a pepperoni and my husband got the chicken carbonara. Both were delicious! They must do something magical to the crust like paint it with olive oil for a little extra crispness. We also sampled the «mystery» Mac ‘n’ Cheese from Lee’s Grilled Cheese, which was also pleasing to the pallet. It had a little extra spice.
The wines were tasty and reasonably priced. We bought a bottle of the Viognier and Tempranillo.
The Unilocal party favors are also worth mentioning: loved the mints, the fans, and of course, the über vouchers. I am always impressed by the thoughtfulness that goes into the details of Unilocal events and this experience was no different! Thanks Kendall and Heli for organizing such a lovely evening!

Wonderful place. Very relaxing. This Unilocal event was an awesome experience. Me and my weefk had a wonderful time with tasty beverages and delicious food!

This was a nice relaxing event under the stars with wine, food, and good friends new and old. We were treated to Lee’sGrilledCheese Mac n Cheese that is literally grilled! Gepetto’s Pizza provided us scrumptious pizza’s! We could get wine by the glass or bottle. If this had to be an «end of the Summer» bash, it would qualify as a great one. I was happy to meet my fellow Unilocalers from Fort Worth and I hope to see them again soon. These events are what makes it worthwile to be a Unilocaler. Thank you Heli and Kendall for a fantastic time!

My first time at a winery and it was really nice. Loved the tour that was given by the owner. Never seen the wine process and it was really cool. We were able to sample the grapes for the sauvignon blanc. Yummy! My sister and I had fun doing a wine tasting! Thank you Lee’s Grill Cheese and Gepetto’s Pizza Truck for yummy food! Thank you Lost Oak Winery for having us. Thank you Heli and Kendall for a fun event!

Having truck food in the night in a vineyard with the best of wines watching a cult comedy in the open air theatre with my wife and sis. was a wonderful experience indeed. Thanks to Unilocal and tbe event organizers for the wonderful opportunity.
I tried both dry and sweet wines and ended up buying one of each. I just wished that the tasting area was not crowded and that the server had more knowledge about the wines.
Looking fwd for more such experiences.

This was my 1^st Unilocal event and I had a wonderful time. The Lost Oak Winery is very chill place. I enjoyed the tour and watching a small part of the process of the wine being made.
Some of the highlights were the Mystery Grilled Mac N Chz from Lee’s Grilled Cheese. I would be willing to drive to Ft. Worth to taste it again. Gepetto’s Pizza Truck was a nice touch. I ordered the Mediterranean and Popeye pizza. It was absolutely delicious.
I didn’t get an opportunity to do any tasting. However, when it was time to purchase a bottle. The young lady helping us suggested the Sweet Grass instead of the Moscato. She was spot on in regards to sweetness and taste.
Overall, this was really nice event. Thanks again to Heli and Kendall for a wonderful job.
