What is so sad is this store could be very good if anyone just tried. There are NEVER enough cashiers, the other day the seafood guy had to wait on three people without any help (he called twice & the reason I gave them more than one star). There were 3 carts inside to use.
The thing that is so frustrating, they have good breads, produce is fairly good, meat is sad, and good selection of frozen food. But you can’t buy it !!!
Please just bulldoze it and stop wasting all that food!

I really didn’t want to update my review as my previous review still holds. The story only gets worse.
I went to buy some basics there and they had a special sale of a deli item. I suspect it was getting dated so they had to clear it at a cheap price.
The only problem was that at the cash register it rang up for twice the price. OK. so they make MISTAKES. BUT ITS LIKE EVERY OTHER TIME THAT i’M THERE THAT THEY OVER CHARGE ME.
BUT, WHAT’S WORSE IS THAT THEY DON’T APOLOGIZE AND TREAT IT AS YOUR FAULT. One clerk had to go back and check the price to see that something was wrong. in their system. This gets tiring after a while but I have to CHECK EVERYTHING THAT THEY DO THERE AS it seems they are systematically overcharging me at Safeway.

My daughter spilled cookies and it took walking all the way accross the store to find an employee… who then told me to go tell the baker. I didnt need a new batch baked, I need to make sure the greese from the cookies was cleaned ao no one fell!!! Poor service and limited!

This is the nearest grocery store and the usual grocery store for staples. I prefer other stores for produce and fresh meat. They don’t have a large selection of organic products; I usually shop elsewhere for those items. The store is clean, the service is reasonable, and has a reasonably large selection. They have some self-​service check out stations that are useful when I stop in for just a few items. They do have a Starbucks inside and branch of Suntrust with an ATM. I often make use of the ATM.

Wait — how can you give this Safeway only 2 stars? This is the best grocery store in Burke. Much better selection of everything here. There are several stores closer to us, but this is where we go when planning for company or a special meal. Check it out for yourself before believing the low ratings. (Nope, don’t have friends or family working there, but couldn’t let 2-​star reviews go unanswered).

The only good thing about this Safeway is that it is never crowded. In my opinion, this is because it’s overpriced, the produce is questionable, and the staff is really slow. It literally pains me to go here. If you go to Giant or Shoppers, the check-​out people are bright and cheerful, and try to move things along quickly, for the most part. At this Safeway, the checkout staff are really slow, and they also seem kind of dim. They complain inappropriately about weird things (this has happened to me multiple times) and are just unpleasant to deal with. I try to avoid it unless everywhere else is packed and I just need a quick item or two.

What is going on with this Safeway? Usually when I walk into Safeway, especially one in the ‘burbs, it’s bright, clean, organized and well stocked. This particular location, however, feels dark and depressing. The produce look terrible — herbs are brown in their packages, hardly anything looks fresh — most of the flowers are in a sorry state, and sometimes I can’t find items that most grocery stores have. Luckily, their bakery and deli sections are good and the cashiers are friendly, but that’s about it. With all the other grocery options in the area (with another Safeway just down the road, too), I avoid this store if I can.
