The food quality and taste are great. Probably the best spot in Burke. However, it is a bit overpriced, expecially for the amount of food that you get. They skimp on meat and spreads.

Very tasty! There are great combinations for warm and cold sandwiches. Try the turkey BLT. You will want to take a few bagels home for tomorrow’s breakfast !!

I use to work here, it was my first job in high school 2003. I worked there for a month when I was 16. I was a very hard worker and never screwed up anyone’s order. One day I had to work and my mom was late, again, for picking me up at school in Fairfax city and I had to work that day. Without any money for a cab, a phone to call someone, no bus, and no friends to ask, I walked to work from Fairfax city to thr burke location. It took me two hours, and I was late like an hour. They fired me on the spot, and I had to walk home an hour. This place treats their employees like crap. Also, I hope the miserable people that came into give me hard time choke on a Multigrain. The customers here are the worst kind of people.

Out of every bagel place in the Northern Virginia area this is my absolute go to. Huge menu, samples, great customer service, and a nice new updated ordering display. I come here quite regularly and continue to order my favorite item, the cream cheese and lox bagel. It is the best you can find and trust me I’ve looked! I am a loyal customer who recommends this to all.

I so desperately try to like this place because it’s so close to my home. Not many places for breakfast around Burke. The asian lady who works register has NEVER smiled. A smile in the morning would be nice women. I have yet to come in and get a Wheat bagel because they always run out and I have to settle for something else. Food is over priced

The perfect everything bagel is everything to me, breakfast-wise. Chesapeake Bagel Bakery’s version is pretty good. The topping is the most important part of an everything bagel and this one was lacking – where was the salt? the generous amount of garlic and onion? Thankfully I got my garlic fix with their garlic and herb cream cheese which was really flavorful! The bagel texture was okay. I enjoyed the crisp outside but I’m looking for a more soft, doughy inside. This place missed the mark for me in two ways. While the staff was really nice, two of them asked me to repeat my order multiple times and then one more time after I paid. I even heard one of them repeating it to the other twice. That experience was a bit off-putting because I only ordered 2 bagel sandwiches, nothing special. Also they make their eggs in the microwave which, in my case, resulted in an overcooked egg. Next time, I’ll stick with a simple bagel with plain cream cheese and hope for a better visit!

I love this place. I grew up eating here as a kid going to brunch with my family before church, and now I love going to this place every other week with my boyfriend. If you’re on a budget, need a quick pick-me-up brunch meal at local shop that fills you up, then this is the place to go. The bagels and sandwiches are delightful — some unique and some are staples. The texture of the bagel is unbeatable. Firm and crisp but still soft and filling. Some of the bagels they keep up on the glass fridges are exceptional — with toppings that include poppy seed, minced garlic, and the works(forgot the name). The signature thing about this place is the tomato soup and breadstick dough. The ambiance is nice — though it’s busy with often long lines, the atmosphere is inviting for light conversation, reading, or just looking out the window at bypassers. It has a really nice Portland feel to it it! Also, the employees here are very quick with their service and great about bringing out soups.

Fantastic chipotle chicken panini! Great sauce and just enough spice. My wife had the tomato basil panini and said it was good, but«needed something.» Perhaps some balsamic vinegar?

EDIT: They upgraded their menus to schmancy TVs! I love this place. I get what some people say about the female owner being a little on the, er, brusque side, but who cares when the bagels are this good? Plus, she’s not even there all the time, so you won’t hear no complaining from me! Here are some of the things that makes Chesapeake Bagel Bakery in Burke stand out bagel-wise for me: 1. Salt bagels. Not a ton of bagel places in Northern VA even carry salt bagels, so the fact that this place does is my número uno plus point. 2. Egg bagels. Ditto on this. 3. Their bagels are enormous. 4. Salt bagels. 5. They are super liberal with their cream cheese. 6. They have the best drink selection evvaaaarrr. Yeah, they’re a little expensive, but how many other bagel places carry 4 different flavors of coconut water, probiotic drinks, aloe drinks, and more, plus your normal selection of Nantucket Nectars, Snapples, and the like. 7. And finally, salt bagels. Aaaand now I’m going to go get a bagel. Don’t tell my diet.

This is a great place for a bagel breakfast or sandwich for lunch. For what it is, it’s good. Aside from the fact that cream cheese is a fortune…

This place is awful. The rude Asian woman working at the cash register treats the customers like they are inconveniencing her. I wouldn’t spend another dime in there if it was the last place on earth to eat. Overpriced for what it is and subpar food with terrible service.

I can’t attest to some of the other reviewers experience but I am from NY and while I admit the bagels in this place is nothing like NY bagels, I haven’t had a bagel there that I thought was previously frozen. My bagels have always tasted fresh. I also order the lox and cream cheese often and have always had a healthy dose of lox(though I could always do with more). I like trying the specialty bagels and cream cheese when they are available. I would give this a solid 3.5÷5(rounded up to 4 above for convenience).

Their bagels are great, Also love the variety of their cream cheese spread… But whatever you do… Don’t get the lox bagel. It only comes with a slice of salmon that you could barely taste :/ I felt disappointed only because I ordered for Lox Bagels, not a bagel and cream cheese veggie sandwich. I’ll definitely update after trying their other items on the menu another time.

I like the bagels, not love them. I would still go to Einstein bagels if I wanted to have some. However, this place is still much better than Bruegger’s bagels(see my review on Bruegger’s). I also think it depends on what kind of texture you want in a bagel. Without a doubt I want my bagel to be freshly-baked, light and a little bit crunchy.

Delicious and hearty bagels! I always get a bagel w/butter so I cannot speak to the spread. If you go on Saturday morning be prepared for a long line, but it does seem to move along fairly well.

Who doesn’t love fresh warm bagels on a Saturday morning? I picked up a baker’s dozen last weekend and have been enjoying them all week. Service is great here, and they do bagels RIGHT — they are thick, dense, and doughy *see pic* — the perfect hearty bagel. They’re tasty even on their own, but Chesapeake has some good spreads: — Orchard cream cheese(dried cranberries, cherries, and pistachios) — Honey Almond cream cheese — Pesto with plain cream cheese — have to give the bf credit for this concoction; it’s savory and delicious! They have a ton of bagels from sesame to jalapeño cheddar. And despite what other reviewers have said, I think the prices are pretty reasonable. For a baker’s dozen, 2 tubs of cream cheese, and 2 toasted bagels with spread, the total was around $ 23. Not bad! And totally worth it for soft chewy toasty morning bagels!

Long lines, big bagels and quick service! This was my first time here and I was surprised at the huge line. It went by quickly and everyone behind the counter was hustling so I can’t complain! I tried their veggie cream cheese, and it was loaded with veggies. Their bagels were very huge! I should have split mine with my better half.

My issue with service was an unfortunate one time thing. This bagel shop(yes, it’s a little pricey) offers over 15 different types of bagels, sandwiches, paninis, smoothies, bagel knots, fresh fruit, brownies and various beverage options. :I still LOVE it here: 100% better than Einstein’s Bagels or any other shop I’ve ever frequented. Please note, there is a minimum of $ 5 required for credit card transactions.
