So I’ve been to Wokcano several times in the past and had«ok» experiences each time. I was there on a Monday a few weeks ago during lunch time with a party of 6 and our waitress did not pay any attention to our table. She forgot drink orders, forgot condiments and took 10 min to get a refill. However, last week my husband and I decided to have a late dinner here and we had such a wonderful time mainly due to our waiter Ryan and busboy Alex. We walked in during happy hour and got seated right away. Ryan was our server and he came to our table almost immediately and greeted us. From that point forward everything was perfect to a T. It was pretty packed and Ryan was taking care of so many tables with bigger parties, yet he managed to do his job so effortlessly. We received our drinks, soup and appetizers right away. We never had to ask for any refills or ask for our empty plates to be taken away because Ryan and Alex were on top of their game. What was even more great about the experience was that Ryan even cracked jokes with us and always had a smile on his face every time he approached a table. Long story short food was great… but service was AMAZING!!! Big thanks to Ryan and Alex!!!

Food poisoning! I’ve eaten here a handful of times when staying at the Holiday Inn across the street. Last night was wrong from the start. Singapore noodle dish that was labeled in the menu as ‘spicy’ was very bland… no flavor at all. It also came out way too quickly… less than 5 minutes from the time I ordered. Woke up with a sprint to the bathroom at 3am. Definitely food poisoning. Will not return.

It’s honestly been a while since I’ve been to Wokcano located in Burbank. Not since they’ve remodeled. When this place first opened, my friends and I would come here all the time for late night sushi, drinks and just a place where we can relax and just hang out. The lights are kept pretty dark and there’s music playing in the background. Staff is friendly, restaurant is clean and kept in tip top shape. The only complaint I have about this place is the price. I feel like the quality/quantity of food you get does not justify the price tag. Paying 20 $ for black bean noodles with a couple pieces of shrimp I could’ve paid 5 $ for at a local Chinese restaurant down the street. The sushi is good, but I’ve been to other sushi restaurants that do it better. I know they’ve expanded the menu, but I won’t come back here till they’ve lowered their prices.

I personally don’t understand why people like this place. Although I’ve had worse, it wasn’t really good. I Don’t mind spending good money as long as the food and service justify it. This is not somewhere I would re-visit! I hate to give this review but after two visits and them both being poor experiences I feel justified in my review.

Been here on at least 50 or more nights. Never had issues, never told to leave due to a problem. EXCEPT when they served me KUNGPAOSHRIMPAFTER I TOLDTHEWAITERSEVERALTIMES I WASALLERGICTOALLFISH. Complained to Manager and he stated he has«always had a problem with me.» ??? I have never had a problem there until I voiced my complaint and explained that this could be serious for individuals with food allergies. I was asked to leave and not return at that point. Ever. Filed complaint with Parent Corp and LA Public Health. Will contact journalists for public awareness and how they handled this incident. Please be careful! Other locations are amazing.

Been here a handful of times since moving to North Hollywood in March. Wokano is connected to back house(same owners) which is why we’ve dined there, the back house on the West Side is fantastic. With all that being said, we normally have a good experience and the bar staff is awesome. Thursday night was a different story however and the reason why I won’t be back to this location. Went in on Thursday night with my girlfriend just as late night happy hour started. We ordered a couple drinks and the bartender carded us both. Turns out my ID expired on my birthday, which was April 29th. The bartender(«who was really sweet) asked if I had another form of ID, because they can’t serve guests with an expired ID. The kicker here is that I just turned 35. I asked the bartender if she would ask the manager if I could order a drink. She had a bit of an uneasy look on her face and said«I’ll ask, but he’s just going to say no» at which point she asked and he just said no. At the root of all of this, I know my ID is expired so ultimately it’s my fault. My issue here is, I’m actually a General Manager of a restaurant that probably has one of the most strict service of alcohol policies in the industries. 35 is our benchmark as the age you need to ask for ID. If a guest at my restaurant doesn’t have their ID, or its expired, a manager would swing by the table and talk with the guest and determine if they could have a drink during that visit. A few things go into that decision, such as the guests age and when their ID expired, etc. The manager on duty, Gaylord or «G», simply had no interest in talking to me as he told the bartender no from the other side of the restaurant. Again, I know my ID was expired so ultimately my fault. I was just really surprised at how poorly it was handled by the manager. Definitely won’t be back.

The restaurant was located in a good area that was by a lot of other stores and shops. The building itself was a really nice building I loved the Decour and the ambience. The waitress was really Nice. The food came out quick and the almond shrimp was amazing!

Kinda PRICEYASIANCUISINE for the quality you get … Sorry Unilocalers, I’m a college student trying to stretch my dollar for the best quality food I can get. I wanna get the most for my money. So happy hour is definitely enticing, however… HAPPYHOURISONLYHONOREDATTHEBAR. We called and they said that happy hour is available everywhere… But when we were seated we were told otherwise. WAITERWASKINDARUDE. Ambiance: casual/semi-casual. THEY do have a good area for large parties, however. It’s a pretty large restaurant with different seating arrangements available. It’s hip, I’d say. And they have TVs for the game. Food: Young Chow fried rice was pretty good. Had chicken beef and shrimp, however it’s pretty pricey for a college student like myself… $ 14. I’ve had better fried rice in other places for cheaper, like A & W seafood. Parking: There is free parking on the street and neighboring parking structures also available, however, they’re not directly on the promenade.

I’m not going to assume they did it intentionally, however it’s not that much better to possibly be this incompetent. They charged me double what my bill was, however they didn’t swipe twice… the amount is just double what I owed. If you come here, pay cash or keep your receipt so you don’t get scammed. Or go eat at one of the many much better sushi places in the area & avoid this place.

First night in Burbank, want to get my week off to a good start so I might as well try a well rated place. Turns out they have earned their stars! This place is phenomenal! Wait staff is polite and prompt, food taste amazing! I had the Spicy Maki dinner and a Wokcano Pear drink. (People watching is pretty good from here too!)

The BAD: Way overpriced for the same or worse quality than you’d get from a Chinese take-out place. Our two orders ended up costing about $ 50 and that didn’t include any white rice because they charge extra for that. For $ 4 more, you can get all the sides that normally are free at any other Asian restaurant(salad, miso soup, a very small bowl of white rice). We also ordered a sushi roll and what we got was like the small hand rolls you’d normally get charged $ 5 or less at any other restaurant, but they charged us $ 8. It was pathetic looking. The portions weren’t any bigger than what you’d hmgrt from a Chinese take-out place. We were so disappointed with this place. None of the food wowed us — just average and kind of bland. The same genetic tasting brown sauce was used for two different entrees. The host also didn’t greet us right away while no one else was in line and the place was mostly empty at 10pm. THEGOOD: The only thing good about this place is that it’s open very late, the servers are nice, and the décor looks nice, but do you come here for the food or the décor? Your money is better spent at a Chinese take-out place. The Pasadena Wokcano location is cheaper and has better seasoning than the Burbank one.

Ordered pick up on a Sunday afternoon, only took 15 minutes for 2 orders of walnut shrimp and 2 orders of the house salad. First, let me say, that ginger dressing is to die for — I was literally licking my plate clean. By far one of the best tasting salad dressings I’ve ever had. The walnut shrimp was delicious, heavy but that’s just how it’s made. It comes with a little side of steamed broccoli. Pour some soy sauce in there and you’re golden. Pour it up, pour it up… I’ll definitely be back for that salad, that’s for sure!

The restaurant itself is located on the corner of San Fernando and Angeleno, with an under ground parking lot in the back with tons of spaces, Wokcano Burbank is where potentially a good meal can go bad!!! I came here on a Monday evening(Not unlike an other time we’ve visited this place) for dinner with my husband, my brother and his wife. Upon checking in for our reservation, the host wanted to take us to the smaller booths to left hand side of the restaurant(on the side of the San Fernando) as oppose to the larger booth for 6 in the center of the restaurant(which by the way were all empty) I asked nicely and the host happily obliged. But little did I know, that was the beginning of the end of this night for us. Our waitress Jane(middle aged blonde women) showed up with the menus in one hand and her attitude in the other. I suppose walking a few more steps out of her section was simply asking too much since it was«already» the beginning of the evening(our reservation was at 7:15PM and they close at 2AM.) Her nastiness and attitude was brazenly exhibited throughout the entire lack of service, or should I say night. Unfortunately the meal was almost as bad, we enjoyed four dishes out of seven: Japanese Old Fashion: I specifically asked Jane about the level of alcohol, she responded and I quote: «All of our drinks are pretty strong.» So my husband ordered an old fashion that tasted like diluted flat cola on the rocks. After the first drink, we asked Jane if she was about to talk to the bartender and maybe put a bit more alcohol in it. To which she replied, «I’ll just have him make you a double.» He didn’t ask her for a double, he just wanted the single to taste like any other single you would be served at any other places in town. Subsequently we were charged for a double on the second drink, even though it tasted just like a single shot of alcohol(and it was still bad, by the way.) The Monkey Brain: Tempura avocado, spicy tuna, and crabmeat. The avocado tempura was a little too soggy for my taste, because of the eel sauce. But the rest of the table enjoyed this plate. Honey Walnut Shrimp: Was good, but unfortunately was a bit small portion. Again, the rest of the table enjoyed this plate. Eel & Avocado Roll: Frankly, I find the name of this sushi roll quite deceiving, it should’ve been called«eel, avocado, and A LOTOFRICE roll.» The Black Pearl Roll: Tempura style roll that had salmon, tuna, yellowtail, cream cheese, and… you guessed it, more sushi rice! Late Night Party Roll: More like«Late Nightmare Roll.» Based on the description of the menu, we thought we were getting a baked sushi roll topped with lobster and scallops in a creamy sauce. Instead we got sushi rice roll mixed with ample of cream, oh and the lobster was nowhere to be found… Hunan Style Tenderloin Lamb: This dish was delicious, cubed lamb tenderloin sauté with bell pepper, chili, garlic, onion, cilantro, and cumin. I love the spices they used, no gaminess whatsoever. A complete home run! Veggine Shanghai Lo Mein: Not sure if it was due to sushi rice overdoes, I found this noodle dish amazing as well, particularly the sauce, it was pan fried with bean sprouts, scallions, cabbage, and carrots. If I may make one suggestion, go easy on the salt. Now back to Jane, for almost the entire rest of the evening after she took out order we barely seen her. In all fairness, she did come back with a grim on her face when she processed my credit card; too little, too late! Food aside, this all could have been saved if the server had a better attitude. If she cared a little bit more about her customers, we could have looked past some of the food issues and tried to have a good time. But alas this is the typical attitude in a chain restaurant. They don’t care about the customers; they just want the tips! I won’t be coming back anymore, as they’ve lost me as a customer.

This place is fine for what it is. Nice interior, staff is pretty friendly and quick, it’s just overpriced. Food isn’t too bad though. The fried cream cheese wontons, beef & broccoli, house salad, honey walnut shrimp are all good. My favorite of the rolls here is the crunchy roll.
