(If you want to see a lot of synths walk in here haha). I had Rob fix a collection of smaller synths(keebass, poly800, MG1, and my precious Oberheim SEM) and they feel and sound great now. I won’t lie that I was a bit intimidated when he went through the synths with me, but he really seemed to know way more about these synths than i did(that was the intimidating part). Once I upgrade and collect more I will definitely bring more synths to Rob.

I took my farfisa compact duo organ to Rob back in April. I had previously taken my completely noiseless organ to another tech who after weeks of repairing it told me he could not complete the job. The 1st tech got it to the point of all notes being in tune and making sound but the contacts were still scratchy. He charged me nothing for all the work he had done. After searching for a new tech I took it to Rob. After bashing the other tech as being amateur Rob assured me he could fix my organ no problem, he even said that he would have it done in a matter of a few days over the weekend. 1st promise ended up being broken as he did not finish it by the weekend(understandibly as the farfisa is vintage and a trickier beast than most). About a month later he called me and said it was ready for pickup, I naively paid him 230 $ for apparently fixing it. Take it home contacts are still scratchy and some notes are funky. I bring it back to Rob two days later. He said he will clean them more throughout and get it back to me within the next couple of weeks. Weeks go by I have received absolutely no word from Rob, after about a month he finally responds in a slightly passive agressive manor stating he has to order some special«chemicals» to fix it. Weeks later I ask how’s it coming along and he responds that the tech who knows best about the chemicals is out of town. Weeks later he responds by saying he is sick, then on a fishing trip etc. He assures me he is still working on it. I once again naively trust him, and let him do his thing. 5 months later I demand that he finishes my organ(after he tries to convince me he has a whole list of clientele who return to him time and time again proving his work glorious). Each time I would call to check in he would say«I’ll email you about it today!» Well he never did and I would have to keep emailing back saying he never emailed me(all after he stopped answering his phone). I now have my organ worse off than it was before I took it in to get it fixed and there was no chance in hell I’d get a refund. Rob did offer me a free fix had I bought another farfisa that was easier to fix. I never thought I’d be the guy on Unilocal to leave a bad review but me oh my this has got to be the worst service I have ever dealt with. 5 months and 230 $ completely wasted. WATCHOUT.

I took my Maxikorg Univox synthesizer to Rosen Sound this past March 2015. After 21 days(he never reached out to me, I had to visit his«studio» twice to get word from him) they almost fixed the noisy oscillator(for $ 374), but not completely; so I made the mistake of taking it back for further repair. Almost two months later(now into June), Rob somehow made the synthesizer worse, it now has a constant droning«D» note. He would not even give a partial refund after sabotaging the synth. He wrote long emails about his righteousness and played up the role of the patronizing«expert» speaking to the lowly«user». In lieu of using creative expletives, the bottom line is this: he does not own an analog synthesizer and should not be advertising as an expert in the field. I would look further, much further, if you have something rare and special.

If Rob can’t fix it, it ain’t broke! He even fixed my bass wheel for my Upright Bass! Great studio too!

I got amazing service and assistance from Robert at Rosen Sound! He is a master at his unique craft of keyboards, synths, and everything relative. I was in need of Midi help, transferring SysEx files/sound patch collections onto my 1980s Korg DW-8000 keyboard. I had no luck emailing random self-proclaimed electronic/Midi gods on Craigslist Services listings –no one knows how to do this stuff! I was also pretty desperate because I needed a vintage organ sound within a few days and I wasn’t achieving the desired with my own amateur parameter editing. Robert knew exactly what I was talking about. I went in and not only did he transfer the collections, he made sure I understood the steps and actually taught me how to do it! He also taught me the basics of parameters and wave forms, AND created a custom, vintage combo rock organ sound that I love! Thank you!

Great place in Burbank if you need any musical equipment repair. Keyboards, amps, recording, music lessons, whatever you may need. Very nice and knowledgeable staff will help you out for a very fair price. With quick turnaround too! Highly recommend this place!

Where to start?! The beginning I suppose! I had 2 keyboards that I need repaired in a very timely manner. Naturally I called around to find out who can fix my keyboards, how long it would take and how much it would cost. Both keyboards are very different from each other. One is the latest and greatest, a Korg Kronos. The other was a Yamaha KX-88(its basically 88 key version of the Yamaha DX7), a very old keyboard. All the places I called around said they would not work on my Yamaha. Saying its to old of a keyboard and parts for it would be hard to get as they stopped making them a long time ago. The Problems the Yamaha had were that MIDI connecters were not working and the Pitch Bend Wheel was not working. Problems that I thought would be fairly simple to fix and not require any part changing. Seems like a lot of these tech repair stores just replace parts instead of doing any actual fixing. With the Kronos, its hard to explain it in text, but the problem basically was the keyboard was going haywire. It was randomly going through the sounds at very high speeds, non-stop. Every single place I called would tell me the same thing. That I would probably have to replace 1 or 2 parts and that it was going to cost big, upwards of $ 1000 and that it could take around 3 weeks or more to get done. Then I found Rosen Sound I was told to bring it for a look. I brought it in and the guy told me that he could fix it WITHOUT needing to replace any parts and could have it done for me in a few days. I of course then asked if he could fix my Yamaha. He took a look at it and said he could also fix without any replacement parts and that it would be ready with the Kronos. So I left my gear with him to work on. 5 days later I get a call from the store telling me both my keyboards are ready for me. I went down to the store and he had them on and waiting for me to try out to make sure everything was in order. Which I thought was a really cool gesture on his part! I tried them both out and all the problems were fixed. And I payed only a fraction compared to what I would have payed at any of the other stores I called. Not to mention I would have had to wait 3 weeks plus. By far the best tech repair experience I have had to date. Nothing else comes even close. I have a bunch of other keyboards I plan to take down there soon that I was told he can work on. Keyboards like the Roland Jupiter 8, Roland Juno 106, a Prophet 5 and my Oberheim OB-8 that hasn’t worked in years. A bunch of vintage keyboards that it seems no one wants to touch. Other then the repair process, cost and time all being excellent. The guy that worked on my gear was really nice. Talking to him you get the sense that he knows what he is talking about, something which I can’t say the same about many others that I have dealt with. All in all, I highly recommend this shop!
