So, I just finished moving to Burbank, was in desperate need of a haircut, but I’m very particular about the stylist who works on my hair… I was actually on my way to another barbershop when Oscar’s shop caught my eye and just had to check it out. I was able to get my hair cut as soon as a walked in and let me tell you, «This shop is DOPE!» It’s got a cool 1950’s old school feel to the place… The stylist Jimmy(Instagram: jimbo6480) was quite accommodating to my erroneous demands and quite honestly gave me the best haircut I’ve received in the year and a half that I’ve lived in LA. I highly recommend this place to anyone who has eclectic hairstyles. Thanks for the great haircut Jimmy! I’ll see ya again.

I came on a Saturday early morning with no appointment, my first mistake. There was only one guy in the front who had no customers. I should have taken that as a bad sign. Really nice guy and the shop has a good vibe, but I wasn’t happy with the cut. I showed him an instagram photo to get the idea of what I was looking for but I don’t think he knew how to do much more than a good fade. The top was cut just basic barber style, no texturing or layering. He tried to get me to part my hair opposite of what I like, it looked really bad. Also, he scratched his arm a few times with the blade… I mean seriously that is just nasty. 3 stars because everyone was very nice and I think with the right barber you could get a good cut here.

I came here on 2 previous occasions and received ok haircuts and then I came in because my regular barber was out of town. I should have just waited for my barber to return. Jimmy was a nice guy but I told him not to cut the top and he then proceeds to cut the top. Then for some inexplicable reason he cut one side of my hair past my hairline, leaving a noticeable huge gap. I went back later in order to try to salvage it but the damage had been done. I think he was in a hurry and thus my haircut suffered for it. I will not be returning. I know there are loyal patrons to this establishment so my review won’t sway them, but the visual evidence I am leaving speaks for itself.

Just went there today for the first time. I told Jimmy what I wanted and he executed it perfectly. By far the best haircut and best barber experience I have ever had in my life. Jimmy was calm, professional and truly a master of his craft. If you are in need of a GREAT haircut then go to Oscar’s.

Been living in Burbank my whole life, was about time I start getting a cut at a real barber shop. No more asking the homies to line me up. Came in as a walk in and was accommodated accordingly, luckily Rico had his chair open, and it’s been set in stone since. Great customer service with an even better finished product. They got an Old School side and a New School side and I’m comfortable getting a cut on either side. Every time I walk out this place I feel like a whole new man. Lifetime customer.

Rico keeps me looking presentable and greets me with a handshake every time I step into the barber shop. I’m not a local and live half an hour away, but I always make the drive for Rico knowing I will leave looking better than when I first arrived. He remembers my picky preferences and is a solid conversationalist.

Shout out to Oscar’s barbershop on Magnolia! I called as they were closing at 6 and they said come on by we will take care of you. I walked into the«New School» side and Rico stayed past 6 to do the cut and was great with my son, mindful of not getting clothes dirty(though he was already dirty from school fun), tried a Mohawk but I thought too Mr. T so he redid it into a fade. Turns out Rico is Oscar’s son! $ 15 gets a great cut with good service and supports a local business that has been here 24 years :)

I’ve gotten my hair cut by a handful of guys here and every time I’m not let down. Hair and beard trims are always just the way I asked.

They do really great accommodating walk ins(which I was when I first came in) although appointments are the best way to avoid waiting Orr you can alway play checkers while you wait. I WASLUCKYENOUGHTOGETONEOFTHESTOREMANAGERSRICO! RICOSUAVÉ haha! He does an excellent cut, line up, shave, and depending on the day cocktail! Lol. This is my second visit to Oscar’s Barber Shop. It’s really funny that as a child and teenager my dad used to take me to a barber shop, every other weekend. When I move to California, from the East Coast I started going to steal it. I am now back at a barbershop and we’ll do it forever. There is such brothership /fellowship with the men and boys who go to barber shops. Chris, is the best barber ever

So I been looking for a barber for the past 2 weeks. Place: looks very clean, organized, chairs are sweet made from porcelain n rustic metal, each spot has there own taste to there preference. Barbers: they well dress to there own style, each one cater to there clients with much respect and when ur on there chair your number one. I recommend you make a appointment. I got lucky Rico had a spot open. He explain that he likes to have hair consultation before the cut. Really a hair consultation sound great customer service. Price wasn’t bad $ 25, they really take there time to cut your hair n they make you feel your the only one in there chair. Thanx Rico

Oscars brings the culture of barbering to Burbank. Fitting the theme of Burbank’s best Street, Magnolia, it keeps the classic and traditional side of Burbank alive. The double sided barber shop is active with some very talented barbers at every seat. Upon entering, I notice Al Pacino in the Untouchables on the wall with a white layer of thick lather on his face, the way it’s supposed to be done. Historically, barbering was about an intimate trimming of the hairs and whiskers. It was straight razors and an alcohol splash with the scent of man. It was brushes, clippers, and an ambiance. As it has evolved, electric trimmers allowed for a quicker and more refined cut. The barbers at Oscar’s know how to use both the clippers and trimmers to create refined, clean, sharp, and great haircuts. My experience has been with Nilo, the dapper tatooed fellow with the smart glasses and brown boots. After some thinking and reflecting on my many experiences in classic barber shops, I’ve decided that Nilo’s fades are the best. He has been able to produce exactly what I’ve asked for in a prompt but not not rushed fashion. He is also an excellent conversationalist and takes an interest in his customers. I cannot recommend him enough. If you’re looking for a classic barber shop with a great atmosphere, Oscar’s is your place.

Rico is the best barber I’ve ever been to. If you walk into the ‘new school’ side of the shop he will be the last chair towards the back. I’ve been going to Rico for about a year and he is the best. I bring visual references and he always gives me the haircut that I want. He takes his time, engages in great conversation and is always true to his word when I ask for availability. There’s nothing better than that! I highly recommend Rico’s professional services!

Beyond thankful I was told about oscars! Never had a consistent barber shop I can go to and get cuts and shaved for a decent price. Customer service is amazing! with the barber shop feel not the typical franchise fake smiles Rico has been my go to guy since I started going about a year ago. Not only is he great at what he does, he becomes your friend. Capable of always fitting me into his schedule with my typical last minute request.

I’ve been coming to Oscars for about 8 months now and I can honestly say this is the best barber shop I have ever experienced. I started out as a walk in customer after reading great Unilocal reviews and just happen to be paired up with Rico. I’m generally very picky when it comes to who cuts my hair and always stay loyal to the ones who do a great job. Rico definitely sets the bar, I recently found out that he is a 4th generation professional barber and just happens to be Oscars son. This makes all the sense in the world considering the thought and precision he takes when cutting my hair never leaving me dissatisfied and always giving me the type of cut that I ask for. Combined with the great social atmosphere of an old school barber shop, along with the price and location Oscars is the only place you should ever want to go to, and if you want the best go see Rico!

I’ve been having a dilemma getting an appointment at my usual spot. Week after week had gone by and I needed to get my hair back to that clean look. After several days of Unilocal review research(we are talking about my hair here), I realized that I had to give this place a try. Wasn’t sure if I had to make an appointment or walk in. Bit the bullet and walked in. Was greeted by everyone(super friendly barbers and all seemed to be masters of their craft) and was told that there was an open chair at the end. Nestor was his name and making me look good was his game. He was super chill and, even with my poor direction, managed to get my hair to look great. They take cash and card(which is a plus). He gave me his business card and I used it to make my appointment for next time. The second visit was better than the first. Definitely recommend this place to anyone. Looks like I have a new barber. Thanks Nestor.

I don’t think I’m going to another barber shop ever. The only way is if I can’t get to Oscar’s. Just to let everyone know, yes I drive from San Fernando to come get my hair did here. These guys are all professionals. Very cool chill attitudes. I previously stated that the cuts are pretty expensive. But that you get what you pay for. Never have I had a bad cut from here. It’s always on point, sharp and clean. $ 25 for fade and cut. Make appointments! They do except walk in but they’re always busy. Ask for Jesse.

I’ve been looking around for just the basic old-school barbershop with no luck until Unilocal hooked me up today. It was old-school, but with a fresh vibe. Cool crowd, skilled barbers and good prices. I’ll definitely be heading back for a trim and I’ve always wanted a straight razor shave, which they offer, and I hope to try that soon.
