I was so excited to try this store, but found it closed for business(vacant space, disconnected telephone number) yesterday. :-(

I was excited about checking this place out, because I really liked what the previous reviewers said. I can fit some plus stuff, because of the bottom half. Yes, many stores cater to the size 2s, but there’s got to be something between that and this. Alot of the tops seemed too blousy and colorful without being youthful. There were a few on-trend finds, but I know I’m older than many Unilocalers and this store seemed too old for me. The good thing, though, lots and lots of jeans.

I come from the east coast — NY — where it is widely acknowledged that women have curves. I also come from Puerto Rico, where there is no other answer but big hips — and these hips don’t lie. So moving to L.A., land of sizes 0÷2÷4 and medium width shoes, I knew I would have a problem shopping where I NEVER had one before. So I looked up plus size(argh! hate that phrase) stores in L.A. and out popped Unilocal with Expression Plus. I’m not jumping for joy like the previous two reviewers but it is a good alternative to the chain stores of Lane Bryant/Avenue/Ashley Stuart when you are looking for blouses that don’t look like an Orangutan threw up on them. They have some cute and current tops, jeans, and dresses. Though if you are looking for quality this is NOT the place to go. The materials are what you would find in an H&M or Old Navy(not even Tahari grade by any means) so I wouldn’t expect an item to last years, but at $ 10-$ 20 a top, who would! The design concepts are cute, they hug curves in the right places, and if you aren’t looking for a black tie dress, but a nice outfit for the club or a date or even to chill at home, this is the place to go for affordable clothing. All in all — I walked out the door with 4 very cute tops for about $ 70. It’s nice to know I have an alternative.

I’m a Rubenesque woman — a classic hourglass, with a little wheat in the seat… all you micro brew lovers know what I mean ’bout the wheat. Ain’t no junk in this trunk! But I digress… Anyways, I’ve been absolutely craving a wrap dress — one that wraps ALL the way around, ties properly, and doesn’t gape open at the top or in the front in a feeble, if not desperate attempt to hug all my feminine amplitude. And then I found Expression Plus. So there I was, surrounded by some of the cutest — and current — clothing, and it seemed that all of it was made just for me! Then I saw it… a vision in black and white. Could it be? A wrap dress? It was a thing of beauty, reasonably well made, even more reasonably priced(under $ 30), and the best part? It fit flawlessly! Two dresses, one skirt and a blouse later, I was merrily skipping out of the store with my bag of goodies, vowing to go back again soon — really soon! And often, too!

Because Curvy Girls Need Love Too! Stumbled upon this store last year in the Burbank Media Center Mall and have been in love ever since. As a girl with curves(in all the right places, mind you!), it’s sometimes frustrating to shop amongst the seas of size 2’s, but now, there is a store that is actually in step with fashionable trends and they fit. Also, the key word is cheap. You can walk out of there with 4 packed bags for under $ 100 and with the way trends come and go, this cheaper trend fits my budget just fine!
