I usually love this place, and I’m sorry about the experience I just had on the phone with whomever was taking phone orders — because I had to cancel my order and now I’m going to miss out on a delicious sandwich today! I was placed on hold for over 5 minutes, which is not out of the ordinary during lunchtime, but when I called back to nudge them, I was nearly reprimanded for doing so — but I ordered my favorite sandwich anyway. Then I was placed on hold to see how long delivery would be, and was told over an hour. I said fine, no problem. Then I was told again, «yeah its going to be longer than an hour» and told all about the extra delivery charge — all with a tone of discouragement. Bottom line, I got the feeling I was actually being DISCOURAGED to give them my business! It was the oddest form of customer service I’d ever experienced. I canceled my order and told the young lady on the other end of the line to have a great day. This bums me out because, like I said, they make delicious sandwiches here. Perhaps management can re-train some of their lunch time staffers in better phone etiquette, or how to better manage the stress of their lunch time spike in business.

The buckwheat muffin totally turned it out for me. It was just delicious. It was bit too sweet to eat every day, but it’s a nice little snack. The iced coffee was just gross, which is why it gets this 3⁄5 rating. I can’t remember the last time I put milk or anything in any type of coffee, but theirs just wasn’t good enough to drink otherwise. It wasn’t that it was too strong. I think it was just super bitter either because of a dirty coffee machine or the really weird water in Burbank. When it’s hot, a pinch of salt would normally do the trick(Science!), but you don’t really have that option with iced coffee.

I go here all the time because it’s really close to my office and a great spot for a quick lunch to go. I usually get either the turkey breast sandwich on rosemary ciabatta or the BLT. The turkey sandwich is pretty good, nothing to write home about but it’s great for eating at the office while working. The BLT is amazing, so much bacon, but I can’t get it too often for precisely that reason. I go to the gym but I sit down all day at the office, can’t eat too much bacon! The place gets really crowded at lunchtime, so I usually try to go a little later. It’s not too bad around 1:30 or 2 usually. I haven’t tried any of their pastries yet but I will one of these days, they look pretty good! I’ve never eaten in here either, but I imagine it wouldn’t be a great experience because the interior is pretty small and there are always people lining up to get their food or to order. There is an outdoor patio area, but it’s been too chilly lately to sit outside.

I don’t know why I’ve come here more than once. If somebody asked me to define the word mediocre, I’d literally hand them food from this place. I’ve tried two sandwiches and one salad. The sandwiches were pretty dry, and the bread was definitely not fresh. Their chicken Caesar salad was one of the worst I’ve ever had. Their chicken is like eating paper. Dry and absolutely no flavor. It doesn’t help that the workers aren’t particularly pleasant either. A smile every now and then would be nice. The only thing this place has going for it is the location. It’s surrounded by many offices and buildings, so I’m sure it’s always packed simply due to convenience.

This morning, I had the best Veggie burrito(on Lavish Bread), add bacon! Burrito included several fresh vegetables including spinach with a side of fresh salsa. Often after having a breakfast burrito I’m left feeling overstuffed and greasy. Not the case with the Backstage version. If you ‘re in the mood for baked goods and coffee, Backstage is a HIT!

This is the second time I’ve been here in a month and still disappointed. Last time I got an orange juice, similar size to the one at Porto’s, and it was $ 3.50 or whatever for what tasted like grocery store boxed up orange juice like minute maid. Yuck. I ended up throwing half of it away and was annoyed I paid so much for that. It the only thing I bought that day. The only reason I came to this place is because it’s the closest thing to the medical buildings. Then today, I had a super early appt which ended early and was between appts so I decided to get something to eat — a ham and cheese croissant. I ate ¾ of my croissant until I actually got to the ham and cheese part. Ugh. If I wanted just a croissant I would’ve ordered it. Plus it wasn’t even good — it was edible. The reason for 2 stars? I really wanted to give just one, but it was walking distance, and I didn’t go hungry… so there you go. I don’t have the time to stop by Porto’s before coming here; besides, it’s out of the way.

I really enjoyed the thanksgiving sandwich… I recommend getting the cranberry sauce on the side otherwise the sauce made the bread soggy but was still delicious

I love this place! Everything from food to drinks, and the amazing staff! Their hummus and pita bread is delicious and their jalapeño bagels oh my gosh, my absolute favorite! All their drinks are delicious also!

i mean it’s good for a local quick lunch. given the usual clientele and foot traffic, I doubt this place gets any more than that type of customer. The sandwiches are good and fresh, however priced a little steep. Same kind of goes for the salads. Nothing to rave about though, just your standard lunch/sandwich/soup/salad type place with a bit of a steep price tag. Cant say I wont be back but I can say I wont go out of my way for it.

Yummy, yummy, yummy chicken and tuna salad sandwiches. They have a variety of other sandwiches(try the Vermont Turkey or Basil Lovers), but these two are my favorites. Their tomato bisque is delicious, so much so that I want the recipe. They have the usual suspects as far as baked goods are concerned. Standouts are the chess board cookies and lemon bars. Small café inside, lots of seating outside with umbrella tables.

I’ve been stopping here ever since I started stopping at the bank adjacent… Started… Stopping… Hm… I have enjoyed many of their sandwiches from the Rueben to their mouth watering thanksgiving speciality sandwich. I like meeting with clients and friends here as they have lots of options and friendly service. You can get a full hardy meal, a sweet treat, or a cup of tea. There is free 30 min parking in the lot. I like to sit outside in the shade but their tables are all a bit rickety. There’s usually a bit of line, but it’s a very short wait. As far as cafes go, Backstage Café is extremely acceptable.

This review is based on one sandwich I had today for the first time and… ITWASTHEBESTDAMNBLT I HAVEEVERHAD. I don’t really order blt’s because most places don’t put more than a couple strips of bacon and that just makes a poor sandwich. I am not even that big on bacon but this sandwich was amazing! I saw someone else order it, I smelled it and knew what I wanted. Sandwich and a banana was $ 8.25 not bad. I’ll definitely be back for more and to try new items.

One of my go-to’s for breakfast or lunch, any day of the week(except Sunday when they’re closed, one reason they aren’t 5 stars for my own selfish Sunday desires)! Croissants are amazing, coffee is perfect, and though some of them take awhile to warm up to you(ahem…another reason for the lost fifth star), most of the staff is great! Will continue to be a regular spot for me-always great quality, taste and I leave happy!

Great quick option for salads, sandwiches — but best for BREAKFAST! Walking distance from my work — huge plus. I usually call in my order and its ready in 10 minutes. Breakfast burritos — egg whites & spinach. Breakfast Sandwich — ham egg & cheese on croissant Lunch — thanksgiving sandwich; turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce. YUM. Only a few of the many things I’ve had here — all fantastic! Cheap too, breakfast runs about $ 5 – 6, lunch about $ 8 – 9.

Went to LA to watch the famous Conan O’Brien and had a break between waiting in line for tickets and the actual showtime. We went looking for a place to eat and this place had great sandwiches. I had the BLT and the boyfriend got a hot Pastrami. Both were great!

This place should be called Backdoor Café. Why? Because if they had a backdoor, I would have run right out. I didn’t plan on eating here, I planned on eating somewhere else(Yes, I plan out where I am going to eat ahead of time). I was stuck at a very busy dr’s office and my blood sugar was dropping rapidly so I snuck over here. I looked at the menu and saw«famous tuna». I said«what is in your tuna». Answer” tuna and mayo”. I said«No celery, no onion». Answer«No». I said«why is it famous». she says«I don’t know, but its popular». I asked for a sample” verdict: very bland”. I ordered an egg salad on wheat pita with lettuce and onion. It should have been called a lettuce sandwich with egg salad spread. There was a TON of lettuce and barely any egg salad. Also, the egg salad had no seasoning at all. No pepper, no salt, no celery or onion. Totally bland. The pita was FREEZING cold. It wasn’t fresh as I was told. The pita was HORRIBLE. I could barely even swallow the sandwich because it was so hard and cold. Look around for a backdoor and if they have one, run fast.
