I’d always used to come here after the gym! I’m so sad it’s gone! ;( RIP Asian box — you will be missed

I unintentionally went here on the closing day. I mourn the loss and now have another cautionary tale to tell about not visiting your favorite restaurants enough… I LOVE this place and know many others who did as well. It was an excellent lunch spot for those working in Burbank. I’m surprised they closed it, because whenever I went it was quite busy. I know there is still the downtown location, but unfortunately it closes quite early. I would love to have another in LA(though I hear they are opening one on the west side, that’s too far for me) that is open later. I adore the food and could basically eat here daily and be happy. If you get to go to a different location, you’ll be in for a treat. Let’s do all we can to keep the other locations open!

I absolutely LOVED Asian Box and was devastated to come get dinner tonight, only to find it closed. Does anyone know why this location folded?

Yum yum yum It’s such a healthy meal with brown rice and all the veggies. You definitely get your share for the price and mint tea is delicious. I’ve always gotten the mint green tea, and you get refills with is great because the cups are small when they fill it up with ice. I’ve always gotten the sriracha sauce, but others with me have gotten the tamarind and they’ve enjoyed. TIP: extra crispy shallots

Definitely my new place to splurge. Love the Garden Box. Curry spice was just right. Its clean and the menu is not complicated. Love that the hubby and I can both eat happily here. Will be back a few hundred more times.

The food is amazing ! The staff is very friendly! My only complaint is that they aren’t allowed to take tips. Asian box share the love with your employees that are doing an outstanding job :-)

This place didn’t do it for me. It is chipotle style in that you get to choose your own ingredients. I think most of the time places like this don’t work for me because it’s hard to make a good combination without being familiar with the ingredients. Sometimes it works but this place didn’t for me. The guy at the counter was very friendly and recommended some things, but everything I had wasn’t very good. The ingredients seemed good, but the overall product wasn’t very tasty. I had the chicken with jasmine rice, all the toppings and two sauces. The sauces I had were too sweet and not very flavorful. It wasn’t very filling either. It worked out cause I wasn’t that hungry, but it was kind of pricey considering I spent over ten dollars and it seemed to fill me up as much as a taco would. Yeah it just didn’t do it for me.

I liked this place a lot — kind of reminds me of Chego. Their service was fast, food tasted fresh, large portions. It’s a nice simple menu, but that also means there aren’t a ton of options — mainly you can switch up what meat you want and the sauce. I like that you can get as many toppings as you want(except for the special toppings of course, like the caramelized egg). They forgot to include the egg in mine, and the caramelized egg they later brought out for me seemed a little rubbery, but that’s my only complaint. Will definitely be back.

Been wanting to try this for a while. But it disappointed :( FOOD Chicken(3 stars): They only have thigh meat :/they should offer all white meat! So much for trying to be healthy. Overall the ingredients were okay. The meat was just okay. My friend got beef and said her beef wasn’t so great either. Hot box sauce is actually hot! It was good though. Usually places that serve«hot sauce» don’t have a sauce that is really that hot, but this one definitely was! Service was great, food is just okay. If they had better meat it would taste better.

My first impression, it’s okay but it’s a lot of money for what you get. It’s a Chipotle type place where you can customize your email and order step by step. First you choose your base/starch, so brown rice, jasmine rice, noodles, or salad. Then you choose your protein, then toppings and finish w/the sauce. When I received my meal, I needed a little more meat. I ordered the steak and they provided about the size of the palm of your hand, which I know is probably the healthier option to get, but I still wanted more. However, it was cooked medium(cooked through and still pink) and the meat was tender, so props for that. everything else, felt kinda dry. Maybe it’s my fault for choosing a dry topping at the end(Asian Street Dust) instead of a sauce. It just sounded like a winner, especially since it cost $ 0.25 more to get this vs their other sauces. To be fair, I customized my box and maybe I should have chosen their pre set meals, but half of them have ‘double tofu or double meat’ which just shows that they give a small serving of protein in the first place, and will probably charge me for that extra protein, pushing my meal to $ 12 instead of $ 10. I probably won’t return again unless I happen to be right outside and too hungry to wander around to find something else.

The Vietnamese coffee here is pretty bad. I have never experienced a bad cup before this. The food was subpar and the sauce overwhelms all the flavors from all the ingredients. I guess there is a restaurant called The Asian Project down the street, which is exactly the same yet outstandingly better.

So this place is fast casual Vietnamese street food, which you don’t find every day, so that alone is worth a try. But what I really liked is that everything was freshly made that day, the flavors where different, and it kept me full. The price is a pinch high for the amount of food, but I still enjoy it. The lemonade is also a favorite of mine. They add this marmalade to it that just pushes it over the top, I love it. It’s a nice lunch option, a quick stop, kinda like Chipotle or Tender Greens, you don’t get to walk down the line seeing what to add, but the ordering is pretty much the same. You can customize what you want in the box with rice or noodles, chicken or beef, etc. It’s a great quick lunch option!

Well I’ve had a couple of asian box places such as chego and some other spots near around Culver City. This place is pretty damn good. I had the Big Ox which was very filling. All items within the box stand out as far as flavor and freshness. The meat was tasty. In my opinion maybe a bit on the rare side but i didnt mind it. The caramel egg was a bit weird for me. I’m sure as far as taste and texture that its the way its supposed to be. But texturely, it was weird. Rubbery octopus type texture. But still good. Im almost positive that its intended to be that way. The lime marmalade is very refreshing as well. One more thing that stood out was the attentive and polite customer service I got. The cashier remembered to top off my drinks after helping a customer. Thanks! 8) Location wise its in a pretty cozy corner right in front of the theaters. I will definitely be back here when im in the area again. This is a very good place to eat at and you dont feel guilty or awful eating here!

Eat here… it doesn’t «taste gluten free» but it is!!! Wahoo!!! Gluten Free!!! It’s soooo good!!! And I can eat it!!! I had rice noodles with chicken & coconut curry sauce(really spicy for me but yummy).

Although it was a bit too salty(too much sauce, perhaps), my shrimp noodle bowl with a bunch of veggies was quite delicious. There were a lot of decent-sized shrimpies(or prawns). My boyfriend found his Ox Box a bit too spicy; otherwise, it was fresh, tasty, and plentiful. They now serve phở! :-D

I’m updating my review because I recently brought one of my best friends here from San Diego. She ordered the beef rice bowl for takeout. I ordered my normal tofu rice bowl. When we got home, within five minutes of eating her food, and she started to heat up very quickly, and within 10 minutes, she was in the bathroom throwing up. She threw up a total of four times. It was terrible. Even a few days later, she still has a fever. We are positive that the beef was the cause of the food poisoning. The next day, I called the restaurant and they asked what they could do to make it up to her. I asked for a refund for her at the very least which they issued. However, it really worries me and I am hesitant to come back. It was not a pleasant experience.

I never thought that an Asian version of Chipotle can happen until I went to the Asian Box for the first time! My boyfriend and I were very hungry one night and we wanted to get a quick dinner before watching a movie, so we found the Asian Box and decided to check it out. We were quite impressed with the many choices the Asian Box offered. For base, you can either get Jasmine rice, brown rice, or cold noodle. For meat, you can get chicken, pork, beef, tofu, or shrimp. For sauce, you can get fish sauce, sriracha, tamarind vinaigrette, etc. For toppings, you can get as many as you like such as pickled vegetables and crispy shallots although the caramel egg comes with a small fee. Although it wasn’t like Chipotle where they would get the ingredients on the go while you name the ingredients you want individually, they definitely are quick on packaging them in a box in 5 mintues tops. For my meal of $ 9, I got my box customized with Jasmine rice as the base, chicken as the meat, tamarind vinaigrette as the sauce, crispy shallots, pickled vegetables, fresh herbs, chopped peanuts, and caramel egg as the toppings or box toppers as they call it. My boyfriend got the authentic phở for his meal, which he said was delicious and perfect for the cold weather. As for my food, having all those box toppers really made the rice box so flavorful and stomach satisfying! The tamarind vinaigrette brought a tangy yet sweet taste to each of the vegetables, rice, and chicken. The food was fresh and tasted just right! Despite the small space, they have seating both from the inside and outside, so you can enjoy your meal either way. Parking is best at the parking structure for free(3 hours only). Overall, the Asian Box has neutral and healthy Asian street food that is excellent in my book! I can’t wait to return!

I ordered the pork with jasmine rice. Picked vegetables with vinegarett. So far so good. I loved how everything blended well. I also got the mint iced tea which was pretty good. Not overly sweet. The place is quite small inside but there’s also outdoor seating which in my preference is better. The staff was friendly and service was quick. Although they did forget to give me my drink. They made up for it though because they gave my hubby and I free sample drink of lemonade and Vietnamese coffee. Will definitely be going back.

I’ve been to TAP and Shop House, and Asian Box is a similar but slightly different concept. While you can choose your starches, protein, toppings and sauce like the other places, it’s not assembly-line style — after you place your order, they make the boxes in the back and call your number when it’s ready. I had a lot of questions and they were all answered graciously. They even offered samples of their beef and pork because I was torn between the two(and you can’t order more than one protein unless you want to pay a $ 5 surcharge for double the meat, and I wasn’t THAT hungry). I liked both options, but I went with beef — tender and juicy slices of steak. Yum! They also offered us samples of their sauces. I went with the tamarind vinaigrette for my order, but I also tried the fish sauce and agree with another reviewer that it reminded me of the sauce that you get with Vietnamese bun noodle dishes, with a bit of sweetness. I tried the Vietnamese coffee and it was good. Not as strong as others I’ve tried. I like that they have a water dispenser in the corner. :) Their Unilocal check-in deal is a surprise gift. I got a coupon, and one of my coworkers got a free hat. They’re located right next to Pinkberry across from the AMC theater. Yay, free parking!
