Solid food. This is like a place that could be downtown but is in Lackawanna. Good craft cocktails – very fun– and beer. They truly care about the ingredients in their food and I have yet to be disappointed by something. Their menu is mostly pub food, but there’s a little more TLC and creativity to it.

I don’t write reviews often, but I was so impressed by this unexpected jewel, I had to write one. I needed to get out and grab a burger and my neighbor introduced me to this place– which I would have never known about and never noticed driving by it– and I am forever grateful. You couldn’t guess what is waiting behind the unassuming brick exterior. You can see the standard issue neon beer signs in the windows, and it gives you no indication of what to find. Inside is a sweet, calm, pretty interior– a little country, a little classy– and definitely low key. It is not a dirty, sticky, loud, dark bar like you find in the rest of the neighborhood. it was such a breath of fresh air. It was cool but not too hip, quiet but not too quiet, and friendly. The bar tender was such a sweetie(and cute), called me darling(made my night!). He’d refill my club soda without me knowing– my glass was never empty. The food knocked me off my socks. I am rarely impressed with food since I cook a lot, and make everything home made from pasta to bread to sweets– but this place blew me away. EVERYTHING is home made– the bread, BBQ sauce, paper thin delicious pickles, and they grind their own meat for the burgers! The menu is small enough that you are not overwhelmed, and you know that everything is made with love and care. I had the mussels in what I can only describe as magic sauce– it was the most delicious mussels I’ve ever had in my life. Huge chunks of thick bacon floating in a garlicky, beer, rum based broth. They even gave me a spoon for when the bread was done and I had nothing left to dip. I could die for those mussels. Next was a burger– classic, with bacon, cheddar and onions. The burger was HUGE– almost too huge to bite, but I managed! The bacon was so thick, and the onion were piled on high. It’s one of the best burgers I have ever had in my life. The fries, which normally I wouldn’t think twice about– were amazing. They kept the skins on the end, and they had just enough salt-I hate it when my fries have no salt. This did not disappoint. My neighbor ordered Kiki’s Potato salad– holy cow. It was cheesy, gooey, and incredible. I haven’t tasted anything like that. I could only eat half my food, I was so stuffed. Even as leftovers, an hour later, my husband wolfed it down and loved it. My only regret was not having the Nutella Bread Pudding that was WARM out of the oven and waiting for me! I just couldn’t– there was no room. Next time, I’m getting that! And the duck poutine. And the potato pancakes. I am writing this review so that this place is packed all the time, and never goes away. They need to spread the word, and people need to come! We are going to come here for our next ladies night, because this has now pushed my former ‘favorite neighborhood place’ down to #2(I won’t say who!). This was downright incredible. I wish I could give it 6 stars.

Pretty much obsessed with this place as of Saturday. I’ve never been here and i have been looking to try it for quite some time now. Decided to check it out with my dad because it seemed like a place that him and i would enjoy. Walked in at around 4:30−5 and sat at the bar, it was a little slow when we first got there. Greeted by an older woman, super friendly, she was actually one of the owners, i was debating on what cocktail to get and she recommended one for me, it was gin, i actually asked for lockhouse gin in this drink specifically. The drink turned out to be super delicious, right up my alley! Only thing i wish she would have done differently is strain the drink over a large cube of ice, instead she just poured it all into the glass with the small ice chunks. My dad of course got a PBR bottle, later after dinner he ordered an old fashioned and that was AMAZING. before we ordered a new bartender came in, male, the owners son. This guy was pretty cool, i would come back just to hang out and have a drink because he knew how to make the perfect margarita EXACTLY how i like it, he actually even made it a bit spicy with some bitters that he had on hand. For food we started with the poutine, duck gravy and goat cheese, filling and the portion was the perfect size. My father also got the soup that was on special, he said he enjoyed it… the bartender told me the chef(his father, another owner) told him that they will be participating in the Buffalo Soupfest this year as well. Looking forward to checking out what they have to offer if i happen to attend this year. For our entrees i got the ruben with a side of their potato salad and also a side of mac and cheese. My father got the steak. Ruben — 3.5÷5 Was a bit on the small side, could have maybe used a bit more dressing but still enjoyable. Potato salad– 4⁄5 This is the owners mothers family recipe, warm and savory. you should get it and bask in all its glory. Mac and cheese– 4⁄5 Made to order at first was a bit soupy but once i stirred it up and let it cool down it thickened right up. Its cheesy and mouthwatering please do yourself a favor and order it. Margarita– 5⁄5AMAZING ask him to make it with cilantro and the spicy bitters that he has im sure he will know exactly what you’re talking about Gin DRink– 4.5÷5 good on taste just wanted it strained. Overall i can not wait to come back! I’ll deffinatly bring my cousins and boyfriend here to try it!

Seriously the best frites in all of the Buffalo area. Great beer and cocktails. As a vegetarian I am in love with their veggie burger. First class service and atmosphere. Again, those hop fries rule!

Winfields is the refuge, we all seek. Cheryl maketh lunch rush seem quiet. She leads us into scrumptious pastures, And refreshes us with beer&wine that runneth over all the days of our lives. Her chef comforts us & we compliment bountifully and payeth dutifully. So let’s keep Winfield’s cup overflowing because of the goodness in the greeting & love in the grub. Though we walk through many a pub, We will never fear when we enter The church of Cheryl and we shall dwell In her house forever.

Winfield’s is a really great South Buffalo restaurant option. If you don’t feel like traveling far, but don’t want to eat at the same three restaurants that have been in South Buffalo for twenty years, come here. The menu is completely original. Everything is homemade, it’s family-run. The décor is so cute. Everything I’ve had there(over four visits) has been completely amazing. The bartender competes in competitions so the cocktails are out of this world good. Skip the same bar you’ve been to thirty times and support some different local businesses by coming to Winfield’s.

This place is a hidden gem. If I didn’t live in Lackawanna I never would have known this place existed. It looks like a hole-in-the-wall bar and that’s what it sort of looks like when you walk in. But the food is fantastic! The menu is fresh and exciting and they have specials. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for something different.

What a great little gem in an odd part of town. I have been dying to try this place and very happy I was able to. We showed up on a Thursday evening. They were not too busy, plenty of tables available, but we grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender Tom was very friendly. They have a great beer selection and a great cocktail menu. Lots of creativity in their cocktails. We started with the grilled cheese bites as an app. The house bacon– what can I say, AMAZING! I could eat a whole bowl of that by itself. I ordered the chicken pot pie and the other 2 had ordered the turkey wrap special of the evening with KiKis potato salad. Everything was delicious. They have a great menu, it’s not a huge menu, but there is something for everyone. The restaurant is very clean, the staff is very friendly and the food is great. Can’t wait to get back and try more items on the menu!

Love everything about the place — especially the chips on the bar, cocktails made by Thomas, the smoked chicken and apple soup, potato pancakes with apple chutney, grilled cheese bites with spicy tomato soup… I could go on.

Got done with my assignment last Friday at 7PM. Circumstances found me very close to Ridge Road. Unilocal led me to Winfields. I am so glad I stopped. The Ridge has a diamond on its impressive brow. This Gastropub is really special. Keeping up with the Niagara Frontier beer revival an exceptional beer menu is presented. I went with Glimmerglass from Cooperstown. I decided to go with the NY Strip. Supposedly the best cut of steak and quite the safe choice. My waitress asked if I wanted to hear the specials, my response was positive. When she said lamb chops I made the detour and ordered the chops. In short order I was served my salad and very shortly the entrée came out. Three thick chops on a bed Swiss chard, chick peas and cherry tomatoes. The kick came from the balsamic relish that dressed the vegetables. The chops were delicious and the bed of veggies was very tasty. I have been eating for over 66 years and this was one of the best meals I have ever had. Go to the Basilica, say a prayer that Father Baker is canonized then head for Winfield’s Gastropub and eat like a Cardinal. Once that man is recognized as a saint and the pilgrims arrive you won’t be able to get near the place.

I moved down to South Buffalo back in September. My girlfriend read about this place because she heard it had really good burgers. We went one night when we got out of work(our schedules are a little wonky so we look for a lot of places that serve food later) and we were both pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, staff, and bar. Everything was wonderful and they served me the best burger I’ve had in a long time. We frequent Winfield’s Pub regularly now and have yet to be let down by anything that they serve. The food and drinks are superb.

This was my second time here, the first being Restaurant Week. We came late on a Thursday night and were the only diners, though there were some people at the bar. I had the chicken pot pie and was very pleased. The salad that came with was fresh and yummy. The pie was full of big chunks of white meat chicken and veggies. It was a big dish, too. Had I not been so hungry, I would likely have taken half home. The husband had the Rueben and said it was good. The place is cute and the servers attentive. We had to wait quite a while for the meal to arrive, but that is likely because of the lateness of the hour and my pot pie’s flaky topping had to bake in an oven. The one complaint would be that the drinks are not bottomless here. The iced tea was only $ 2, but there wasn’t much in the small glass. Next time I will have to remember to also ask for water. The place is difficult to find as the storefront is very small and the sign is very small. The turn into the parking lot is extremely sharp and easy to miss. In the past I had the lamb burger and that was delicious. The place obviously cares about the quality of its food and making the flavors interesting. It is so nice to be able to get a yummy, healthy meal fairly late on a week night. I assume this place is big enough that you can also get in on weekends without a long wait. Why would anyone go to a chain when you can eat so much better here?

Seeking a decent option on the Saturday before Christmas after strenuous holiday shopping, we found long wait times for tables at other local establishments. Instead of waiting, I suggested we try Winfield’s. That was a win for me. I’m not sure how many points I should get for that suggestion, but it should be a lot. This intimate, Lackawanna corner pub doesn’t stand out. In fact, I’ve probably driven by it a brazilion times and not even noticed it there… sitting… unassumingly lurking… patiently awaiting my patronage. The day had come. The first thing you will notice is, the concrete steps to the door are unusually steep, so watch your step, but going up and down those stairs a bunch of times is a great way to build an appetite or work off the meal you just had! Great idea! The pub was reasonably busy, but there was no wait for a table, which was perfect. Beyond the obvious attraction presented by the climb into the restaurant, the interior charm of Winfield’s is quaint, personable and gives you a very«at home» feel. We were quickly seated near the front window, along side their Christmas tree which brought a cozy ambiance to our meal. Missing only was the snowy landscaping, because it has been unseasonably warm in Buffalo since November… but that’s ok! Really. I don’t mind. We both tried the pulled pork and 3-bean soup, which we agreed was a soup masterpiece. Incredible. Literally one of the best soup-of-the-days I have ever tried. My date got the lamb burger, cooked medium-rare, and I got the pulled barbecue chicken sandwich on jalapeño bread, both with a side of the mac-&-cheese. After a quickly corrected mix up with my order, which honestly was probably my fault as much as anyone else’s, we discovered the meals were also as incredible as the soup. The service was excellent — from the barkeep warmly greeting us, to the server waiting every table in the pub alone, yet forgetting no one(and also not hovering or asking every 2 minutes if everything is ok which can be equally as frustrating youknowhatImean!) to the owner visiting each table to make sure everything was to each patron’s liking, the experience couldn’t have been better. The only disappointment — we enjoyed the soup so much we asked for a bowl of it to-go so it could be enjoyed the next day. It took a while to be brought to our table and when it was, the bowl was only half-full — probably no more than a «cup» size serving, yet twice the price of the cups of soup we enjoyed with our meal. Very disappointing. I believe that if a patron likes something you served so much that they’re willing to buy it AGAIN that night, load that b***h up. Just my view on it. That aside, Winfield’s does receive from me a rare and elusive 5-star review. It was beyond expectations, and given their close proximity to where I live, I will visit them again.

This place is great! We accidentally came in before they opened(15 min early) and they invited us in anyways. Everything they make is homemade(everything!) and delicious. I had the Lamb Burger which was the perfect sized portion with the best potato salad I have ever had. They have great beers and a very creative drink list. The picture is «Where Eagles Dare» — I got this because I love the Misfits!

What a gem! I’ve been in plenty of bar/restaurants or pizza/sub joints in sunny LA(they’re all fine, but nothing more than average), so it is surprising to find such a cool, hip place with excellent food. Upscale without being pretentious or expensive(reminds me a lot of my OTHER southtowns favorite, Brick Oven Bistro.) Lamb burger, pickled veggies, jalapeño bacon griled scheese with tomato soup for dipping — all were fantastic. Service was exceptional. My 1 beef is no draft beer. But their bottle selection is good & the bartender was knowledgeable enough to lead me in the right direction(Red Hook Pumpkin Porter is smashing!) Can’t wait to go back.

A great surprise in what used to be just another neighborhood bar! I had the burger whilst my dining partner had a lovely bowl of steak and grass soup. Okay, to describe it as a burger is to do it a disservice. What made the burger special was the combination of cooking the meat properly and the wonderful raspberry tomato jam(ketchup) that was served on top. The service was fast and friendly, the place was clean, the prices reasonable, and there is parking behind the building. What more could one ask for? This place should be jammed every night!
