Dr. Hashim is highly respected among the professionals I have spoken with. My son is special needs and his school recommended Dr. Hashim. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of child psychiatrists in Buffalo which would explain why he received a good recommendation and why he only rates 2 stars. I think he simply has TOO many patients to reasonably handle. Does he know medications? Yes. Is he a good doctor for medication management? Sure. If you’re looking for a good beside manner, or looking to work with a doctor that knows your name, then keep moving down the list of your insurance carrier’s providers. My son has been a patient of Dr. Hashim for 5 years now. He sees the Dr. every 3 months(sometimes more often) and on the months he isn’t seen, I still have to call in and speak to the office staff to get prescriptions. After 5 years, Dr. Hashim doesn’t know my name or my daughter’s name(she was also a patient of his until last year) and I’m sure the only reason he knows my son’s name is because it’s written on the chart. I have sat in his office and had him confuse my child with someone else. During an insurance review, I requested copies of my son’s records and was amazed to find SIGNIFICANTLY inaccurate information in his chart that was clearly related to a completely different patient. Dr. Hashim continues to be the only child psychiatrist in network through our insurance company which is why we continue to see him. Overall, he does a good job as a doctor, just not great with the patient stuff. His accent also makes it hard to understand him.
