I went in this weekend super nervous because it was my first time at this salon. I was amazed at the job Karen did! She was so good at hearing out what I wanted for my hair and making it happen. I always find such happiness knowing that the people that take care of my hair actually care about how it turns out. Karen did just that!
The salon itself was so cute and cozy-​they offered drinks to their customers. I even enjoyed when the staff went on their lunch run they asked their customers if they would like anything as well. That really was a game changer.
I would recommend this salon and especially Karen to anyone that is in the need of some care for their hair.

Karen has been cutting my hair for the last six+ years, and the last several of which have been at Urbanity. Karen does amazing things with my hair, I give her little to no direction (or I show her ridiculous photos from Pinterest) and she creates great colors and cuts that always look perfect on me. Karen also gives me great eye-​brows, like really great eye-​brows. She is also trying to teach me how to curl my hair, but I’ve more or less decided it’s just easier to schedule an appointment with her to get my hair curled. Karen has also styled my hair and make-​up for events, and I was thrilled with how it turned out each time.
I like Urbanity as it is an easy-​going and relaxed atmosphere. The girls in the salon are always trying new hair and makeup products and are always willing to share and recommend products that might work well for me. Karen is on-​time, and patient with me when I am running late. She is always able to fit me in, but I religiously schedule my appointments every 5 – 6 weeks. Pricing is completely reasonable. Parking is easy, never an issue.
My husband also see’s Karen for haircuts every 4 weeks and is very happy with how she cuts his hair. No more lopsided Supercut fades for him.
I wouldn’t trust anyone other than Karen with my hair!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Based on a recommendation from a friend, I planned on using this salon to do my hair/​make up on my wedding day. After paying almost $ 100 twice for trials and dealing with negative attitude, hostile employees and ending up looking nothing like the images I brought to reference, I chose to go elsewhere for my wedding day. No one wants to deal with rude attitude on their wedding day coupled with not getting the style even somewhat near what I requested, I expressed my concern. I was told basically ‘too bad’ they would not refund my deposit and hung up on. Who does that? What reputable establishment conducts business like this!!! Not one apology or attempt to fix anything! There was NO contract or any reason to behave this way as I calmly expressed my concerns. BEWARE! I submitted a complaint with BBB and will have to sue them. What a shame! I will tell everyone I know about this horrible experience as I would hate to see anyone else trust this salon in good faith and have an experience like mine!

Thank you, Lauren! I finally found a hairstylist who did exactly what I wanted! I am growing my hair out but desperately needed some layers to make my long face look less so and she accomplished the task expertly! So glad I found her. I will definitely return. The space was also comfortable and my 6 year old hung out on the couch in the waiting area, sneaking mints lol, and let mommy have her «hair time.»

I came here because of the location on Hertel and the great reviews. The reviews are right. They do a great job here.
This salon has perhaps 6 chairs, although I’ve only ever seen two in use. I stopped in to make my appointment and it was easy to make it. Love that. And I could get in within a week. Love that too.
My cut was much needed and I am happy with the results. I felt like a glamor girl leaving with my hair all blown and curled etc. It held and the next day looked great too.
Prices are clearly marked and easy to see. They even do brow waxing if you want that.
Parking is street meter or side street. All credit taken through Square. But of course they prefer cash.

The ladies here seem so well versed in current hair trends that I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed in the hair magic they pull off!
My friend EGP recommended this salon, as she is a client of Julie’s. She set up an appointment for me with Lauren, and we went together for cuts and color. Initially, I was a bit perturbed that they were running 30 – 60 minutes behind, but the weather and driving today was horrible. When I come back, I am going to book my appointment on a weekday, not Saturday, if I can avoid it. Or book the first appointment on Saturday. EGP and I were there for 4 hours. Now, I don’t know about you, but for me that is far too long to be sitting in a salon. I think the time issue can be remedied though by simply being choosy with when you book your appointment. NBD in retrospect.
Lauren is amazing at what she does, clearly. She seriously duplicated a cut that I have long had pinned on my Fierce Hair board on Pinterest. It’s difficult to find stylists with such precise skill in cut and color, and also those who are up on current trends, especially for short hair in Buffalo. At least, that has been my experience. She did an awesome job on my cut and an awesome job on my color! Like truly, seriously awesome. She must love what she does because her work certainly reflects great passion for her craft. She cut my hair so that I couldn’t see it until it was done, and I have to say, when she spun me around in front of the mirror, I was so excited and happy that I could have cried tears of joy! I felt like I had been on a makeover show!
The price was beyond reasonable and I will be back again and again! I’m so glad EGP convinced me to book an appointment. I felt like I was in a hair rut when I walked in, and when I walked out Fabulous, with a capital F! Hahaha!
Go see Lauren. She will transform you into a work of art, fit for a Pinterest board!

There’s a certain amount of love and care that goes in the work Urbanity does daily. You feel it the moment you enter the room and see the modern classic furniture and décor. I’ve only had my hair cut by Lauren, and she takes the utmost care to make sure that my hair looks great. She’ll take the initiative to suggest styles and cuts that really compliment who I am and what would suit me. They get to know you and really, really take care of you. This is not some come in, sit down, chop hair, talk about nothing, pay and leave experience. Even though the price isn’t much different! I’ve been going there for the atmosphere and environment as much as the fact that when I walk out, I’m looking the best I could possibly look

I would recomend Lauren at Urbanity to anyone! She gave me a great cut in a pinch and I look forward to going back for my hilites!

I followed Lauren here from her previous salon and all I can say is wow! Every stylist at this salon is extremely talented and tailors the haircut to the individual. I have had a pixie cut from lauren for a few years now and im constantly getting compliments on my hair. BEST HAIRCUT IN BUFFALO!

Urbanity is an awesome city salon. Lauren has been my stylist for years– she gets my hair. She’s always got tips or tricks to offer, and the cuts always help my hair behave. I recently had a conditioning treatment done and it was quick, painless and helped my hair stay on the shiny side for over a week. Highly, highly recommend.

Love Urbanity! The shop itself is in a great part of town. on the new and improved Hertel strip! Its chic, cool and super comfortable. I’ve been going to Julie for years and years and years and trust her completely! Highly recommend!
