Because I sell clothing to the theater and vintage clothing boutiques, I’m at the Salvation Army stores quite a lot to buy merchandise for my business. I avoid this particular salvation army store because the employees are downright miserable. I made the fatal error of moving one of the carts full of clothing that one of the employees was putting away and literally got yelled at to put it back where I found it! Two months later, I go back to the same store and wanted to look at blouses, the employee putting the clothes away(the same crabby man) had the entire aisle filled with carts and racks that had clothing that needed to be put away out on the floor. I politely asked him if he wouldn’t mind moving one of the carts so that I could look at the blouses. He snapped back that I would have to go around. I tried to explain to him that even if I went around I still would not be able to get to the blouses without moving the cart. He started yelling at me that this is a working lane and this is how they do things in their store! I asked him if that store did not want to sell blouses! He just kept yelling that they had to do their work and this was a working lane and this is how they did things at that store. I can’t imagine treating anyone like this, especially a customer trying to make a purchase. I spend no less than 500.00 a month at Salvation Army thrift stores. I may start shopping at Amvet’s if the regional manager doesn’t return my call.

I stopped by this location a on a whim as I was headed to Michael’s to buy a pre-made ugly Christmas sweater. And boy am I glad I did! There were racks and racks of sweaters and I had so many to pick from! Although I was there to get something tacky, there were plenty of name brand and department store style clothing to pick from. There’s also a large selection of furniture and household goods. This store was well laid out, full of merchandise and clean. The staff were professional and pleasant. The aisles were a little narrow and it was a busy day, so it was a bit challenging when trying to get past someone. Also, the sweaters were a bit on the pricy side for a thrift store. However, not exorbitant and certainly cheaper than retail!

I don’t know any Armies that provide anyone with Salvation… that’s not the primary task of an Army, to be honest. I’m not too fond of militaries, whether they be rivals, allies, or our own. I guess I would make an exception for the Salvation Army, because what they do is, run a very respectable charity, accepting goods and clothing donations and then selling them on. However the prices are a little high and the clothing on offer here is probably the worst selection I have seen. Absolutely atrocious! For that reason, they get a very low score. Prices too high, selection poor. Some pretty cool music on sale though.

After a failed attempt at finding a dresser, I thought I’d give Salvo’s a spin. They had no dressers. And most of the furniture they did have was either 1) shabby junk, or 2) overpriced($ 65 for a desk that was falling apart?!)! How can anything be overpriced at Salvo’s?! I took a brief look at housewares too. I saw a 4-cup glass Pyrex measuring cup… Marked at $ 3.99! I bought one brand new for $ 5.99 at Walmart. Jeez. What I also can’t get over is how they honestly try to sell shoes that are so used they are falling apart. And bridesmaid dresses from the 90’s for $ 50. Really??? My tip to bargain shopping is this… CLEARANCERACKSATREGULARSTORES. I got several tees at Target recently for $ 2.48 on the clearance rack. Brand new. Even the«nicest» used tees here were marked higher than that. Yikes! And it stunk in here. Like people, or skin. Yuck. Every time I come in thrift stores I’m reminded of why I rarely step foot in them in the first place. Never again…

Wow. The prices here have gone up dramatically. Used to be rare to find any item of clothing priced higher then 9.99. Until now. I saw double knit polyester men’s blazers for $ 17.99, a felted wool Merona(target store brand) sweater for $ 9.99. Wool sweaters from mall stores started at $ 12.99– no matter the style or age. This used to be my favorite store but with the extreme price increase no more.

My wife and I are thrift store junkies and we were both equally disappointed with this Sally Anne’s Boutique. We had visited this location many times in the past — so our disappointment stemmed mostly from how it has declined. The store was amazingly a mess compared to how it was only a year ago. The clothes were hung on the racks as if know when cared — even the wrong clothes hangers were used — pant hangers for shirts? They have topped organizing the clothes on the racks, which meant searching through sizes. There were men’s jeans that ranged from size 20 inch waist to 40+ all on the same rack and all together! The shirts were the same XX to small. And the quality of the clothing seemed to be true rags! Everything in this place seems to have taken a drastic dump! Even the workers seemed less friendly. I’m not sure why there has been such a huge change at this location, but I know these two thrifty shoppers won’t be returning any time soon! HOWSAD!

Great store! Huge selections for cheap prices! You can find almost anything here! Wedding dresses, formal wear, jackets, pants, hoodies, fleeces, baby clothes, toys, belts, ties, nick nacks, etc. I bought an entire outfit for my backpacking class which requires some clothing that would be rather pricey in the store, at dicks, or EMS. You can find them here for under $ 5. Sure, other people have worn it before, but just stick it in the wash when you get home. Good as new! Come on down and check it out, you know you wanna find some nice bargains that you totally woulda bought at the mall.

Favorite thrifting spot in the Buffalo area. Clean, tidy, organized by color, nice co-thrifters, someone always whistling Oldies(well that’s me, but still) and plenty of good finds.

This was my second trip to this fine discount establishment and I could not browse comfortably today as a worker there spent at least half an hour spewing discontent that people kept leaving things on the floor. First of all it’s President’s Day and everyone is shopping madly. Second of all, I found a beautiful Liz Claiborne jacket and all leathers that length were exactly the same price, I nicely let him know the one I had did not have a price on it and his answer was«Then it can’t be sold.» I asked if he could have someone price it and he said«You can take it up to the cashier yourself and they will tell you the same thing!» Then I asked if I should hang it back up where I found it and he said«Yes». I walked away and did find a couple other smart buys, brand new, with tags still on, but he was repeating over and over about how nasty people are to drop things on the floor, not a hard feat at all, as most of the garments are smashed together on poor fitting hangers. He kept saying if they dropped their money they’d bend over and pick it up and if he found it he would not give it back as he felt he would have earned it after picking up after so many people. I think this guy needs to find a non retail job. I did wish him a better eveening, hoping for the best but it certainly did not quell him. Bummer shopping here today. Went back to Bath and Body to cheer myself up.
