It’s a fun Mom and Pop shop. Homemade soup was amazing. Great prices. Definitely will come to this neat hole in the wall again!

Everything is homemade and delicious. Highly recommend. Large sandwiches and delicious treats.

I was recovering from mild food poisoning when I went to visit Buffalo… and let me tell you, there is not a whole lot of food that looks appetizing when your innards are rebelling every two hours. I would go somewhere, order, take two bites, and push my plate away.
Looking at a map of the city with the businesses highlighted, I took one look at the name «Loaf & Ladle, «and knew I wanted to make a stop there. When I peeked on Unilocal and saw just two reviews (but both full of praises), I was determined to eat there. I love soup. Some people pick pasta or burgers as their favorite kind of food. For me, it’s soup.
I drove up and down the street a few times trying to find the dang place. The signage isn’t readily apparent and I almost gave up until the café I stopped at had FLIERS for Loaf & Ladle that claimed «the best soup in town!» I knew it was still in business then and just missed it.
I had the Ham & Potato. Wonderful. The next day, I had Bean & Sausage as well as pot roast sliders. So good. I wish my stomach could have fit the second slider, but there just was not room. The third day (and most anticipated), was the corn chowder. It was amazing. I wished I had gotten the bowl instead of the cup. It was sweet and savory, thick, but not a stew. I also tried one of their State Fair Blue Ribbon-​award winning brownies. Pretty good. I’m not a good judge of sweets because I strongly prefer salty/​savory items, but it’s not too sweet and not cake-​like, but closer to fudge.
If the place didn’t close at 3pm, I would have eaten here twice a day. A soup lover’s dream.

Homemade soup and sandwiches. Very good. Décor definitely outdated but who cares when the food is excellent! Got there too late for the special of the day… they were out but it was after 2 so I picked ½ soup and ½ sandwich. Will definitely eat there again if I’m in town.

Excellent soup and sandwich place. The soups are top notch. My personal favorite lunch spot in buffalo.
