Gordon’s

I’m not usually a bar person, and neither is Lee. We came here because we heard they had fantastic wings. So, we decided to head over here on a Saturday night.
Since we’re both introverts, we almost turned around and walked out shortly after getting in. We hemmed and hawed and then a slightly drunk patron welcomed us in and started drunkenly rambling about the beer menu. We were charmed, so we stayed.
Food ordering is at the bar, it’s a pretty simple/​standard bar menu, but with wings and burgers. We ordered a double order of wings, and accidentally ordered three beers.
And that’s when my trouble started. I had to finish the extra beer, and then a couple more, and then the night kind of gets blurry.
So, I only have spotty memories of the overall place, but the wings were fantastic, nice and crispy and not overly messy. Their beer selection is really nice, a combination of unusual micros and your standard Blue and Bud.
And the people are really nice, and made us nerdy shy people feel very welcome.

Great wings! We had two foreign visitors with us from Kosovo and we were visiting the Falls when I realized they needed to have Buffalo Wings while in Buffalo! So, off we searched the Internet for suggestions and «Viola!» — Gordon’s. And the suggestion was spot on. We ordered ahead and the wings were ready for us on arrival. Great size, welll cooked, great sauce. Everyone was more than satisfied. Thanks!

Definitely will come back to this joint next time I’m in Buffalo as I had a great night here watching opening kickoff. If your in the Kenmore /​Northern Buffalo area swing by for some wings and beers.

Great wings, bartender and friendly fellow guests. I had the OJ burger that was good but I just have a preference for my burgers to be medium rare and it came out pretty well done. Bartender was great with drink and wings recommendation. The Tangy Carolina Good wings have such a great flavor. It was a slow Monday night with great food and entertainment playing pick 4.

Good food, good beer selection, pool, darts, live music. Overall great neighborhood pub.

Sumner? Lightfoot? Banks? Flash Gordon? I think any and all of the above could have made better food that this. Probably the least enjoyable and most overpriced burger I’ve had in the region.
A lot of my friends rave about this place and go here regularly, and love the food, so I wanted to give it a try, and I apologize sincerely to them for the negativity of this review. It should really be a 1 star review, but I’m bumping it up to 2 since it’s locally owned and not a corporation or chain.
I was told to try the wings or the burger, I weighed up my options and went for the burger. Here are all the many things that bothered me.
(1) Price — the cost of the burger suggests that the burger will be either huge, or amazing, or both. It is neither. It costs $ 11 for a damn burger. A BBQ burger, no less, which was really just a burger with awful store-​bought BBQ sauce on it.
(2) Size — the burger was smaller than most $ 6 or $ 7 burgers, it wouldn’t have even come close to filling me up if I was hungry… if only it was edible.
(3) Meat — the meat wasn’t particularly seasoned, was completely dry, was completely tasteless. People say that Vizzi’s is awful and tasteless, I find it to taste amazing! People say this burger tastes good, I find it to be one of the worst I’ve had!
(4) Sauce — the BBQ sauce which made this a «BBQ burger» (and more expensive) was probably the worst I’ve had on a burger. It was slathered on there so it dominated the taste, but it was clearly a cheap, sugary brand from Wegmans or Tops. Utterly awful effort.
(5) Service — when my friend called them to ask how late they serve food they (a) yelled at her, (b) didn’t answer the question, and © hung up on her. Then when I ordered, I’m pretty sure they didn’t start making the food til I got there, so there was quite a wait. Then when the food was ready, they hadn’t charged me yet (not my decision), so instead of bringing the food out to me, they sent a guy over to me to tell me to go to the bar and pay if I wanted to pick up the food. In a way that told me they didn’t want me to have the food even for a second without having paid for it, in case I ran away with it without paying.
All in all, there isn’t anything about this place that was more than a 1 star to me except for the live music performance (it was all covers, but that’s what you get in bars, really), so my conclusion is half «never again» and half «what is all the fuss about.»

This is an incredibly popular neighborhood bar, and I’m so happy because of that! The bar tenders are nice, the space is good for a lot of people, and the food is actually vegetarian friendly!
I had to try the Eggplant wings. I’d read about them before, and even though I don’t like eggplant, one has to at least try, yes? Yes.
I was there for a business networking event and had a few beers. Mostly the beers were hoppy or a little malty, which does seem to be the favorite in Buffalo for some reason, but that was alright. It served the evening and I know the taps switch out. The bartenders were great and there was a dollar off happy hour that was going on, so you can’t go wrong with that!
After the event, I was determined to get some of the eggplant wings, but watching Netflix also sounded just as good. Since I’m an adult, I decided to do both: I got eggplant wings with Tangy Golden Sauce for me and BBQ chicken strips and mozzarella sticks for the hubby to go. When I got home (which was like 3 minutes away) we tore into the food while watching Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Such a good evening! The Eggplant Wings were awesome! I’m so glad I went with the bartenders recommendation of the Golden Sauce, it went so well with the thinly sliced, breadcrumbly fried eggplant. And like I said, I don’t even like eggplant, so this means something. It’s really good!
My husband said the chicken strips were stupid. I inquired more. He meant stupid good. I couldn’t help myself: I took a bite. Holy crap, they were stupid. Like… no one in Buffalo; neigh, maybe even in the midwest, makes chicken strips in BBQ sauce that good. I hail from the land of fried meat: I know good fried chicken when I taste it. Bad day to be pescetarian. Well… actually, the Eggplant Wings were some serious consolation.
I’ll be back from those wings. And fight the temptation to order chicken strips. And more likely than not I’ll order up one of their famous Fish Fry’s one of these Fridays. So take my word for it and check out Gordon’s on Delaware! You’ll be glad you did!

Went here for a Lenten fish fry. Our waitress was also bar tending, but for as much running around as she was doing, the service was still very pleasant and quick.
Two HUGE fish frys and 3 beers came to about $ 40, not too shabby. We didn’t have to choose sides – they both came with fries (eh), mac salad (yum) and coleslaw (also pretty good). They had even refrigerated the ketchup containers, wohoo! It’s the little things…
With the limited seating available, our table was right next to two dart boards; the room got pretty loud, but it was a fun atmosphere nonetheless.

Came here on accident. Loved it! $ 2 beer, unlimited popcorn, and good food, though limited! Also great staff!

For a city with many choices for bars, Gordon’s is the only option. Always feel like family, the food is amazing and the beer selection is outstanding. Many many great times had here.

Places like this make me wish I didn’t move to the suburbs. I remember this place as a dive bar that I used to get $ 6 pitchers of Blue Light. Well that was a long time ago and I recently wandered back in there. I was pleaslantly surprised to see awesome beers on tap and even more happy at the prices. Happy hour is 3 – 7 and you get a $ 1 off pints. Most beers are $ 5 and they have 15 or so taps with great beers like Bell’s and Laguntias. They also sell pitchers from $ 9 – 15. They do have food there and there were quite a few people eating there. I’ve had the wings and I’m a fan.
If you haven’t been here before or in a long time go check it out… Gordon’s can fill the void left by Sterling Place closing.

5 big stars all the way! My boyfriend and I stopped by at Gordon’s for a bite to eat on our way to Niagara Falls. It was already 3pm and we hadn’t eaten all day and had been in the car for about 7 hours by that point, so we were ready for some good food. Gordon’s certainly did not disappoint.
LITERALLY THE BEST CHICKEN WINGS I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY WHOLE LIFE. I wanted to get buffalo wings in Buffalo, NY and ordered 10 spicy Cajun BBQ wings and ate every single last one. They were simply perfection. So tasty, full of flavor and substance, and great with the ranch dipping sauce. I felt like I was in heaven, eating those wings. I also ordered a burger, which was nothing extraordinary, but the wings more than made up for it!
Our bartender/​waiter was very nice and the place is certainly divey, but fun! Good music, plenty of TVs (so I caught the UCLA game!), and they also have a popcorn stand! Very awesome. It certainly is a hole-​in-​the-​wall, but thanks to Unilocal,we had a wonderful experience there. I will definitely want to visit again in the future, whenever I’m next in Buffalo, NY!

3 non critical violations most recent Erie county health inspection 3-​16-​2014

Finally went to Gordon’s on a Friday night, and so glad we did!
I love the hole in the wall/​nothing fancy about it kind of feel. We sat ourselves in the dinning area and were served by Kari.
She was very friendly and helpful. My husband had a burger that had Cajun seasoning on it, with BBQ sauce and all the fixings. My friend and I could not decide so we split the pork sandwich and the Oh Jesus burger. Both were amazing! The burger was topped with banana, peanut butter and BACON! All sandwiches were served with their fresh hand cut fries. Delicious.
I also loved the help yourself popcorn. The menu also was not overwhelming. A few sandwiches, wings, burgers and fish frys.
Nice and simple. We will definitely be back!

I’ve lived within walking distance of this bar for two years. I worked the next plaza over and always rode my bike past it. Seemed like a hopping place on a Thursday or Friday night.
A few weeks ago, on a Saturday evening around 8pm, a friend wanted good burgers. Gordons was a suggestion so I said let’s go. The burgers were super moist and well worth the $ 10. They have EBC BlueBerry on tap (one of my favorites). It wasn’t too busy and the place was fairly empty.
Last week, I went for drinks on a Friday at 10pm and this place was packed. They had live music which wrapped up just after I got there. The bartender Carrie is super nice! She even remembered me from the time before.
I’d definitely recommend this place for anyone small group or even a date. They have booths on the side so there’s more privacy. There is a pool table, dart boards and free popcorn!

I went here with some friends last night and definitely enjoyed it. They have a wide variety of beers on tap as well as a nice whiskey selection.
I ordered a purple haze first. The raspberry fruit beer was good but the carbonation seemed off. Once I finished, I moved on to dirt wolf double IPA which was much better. It must have been the purple haze keg.
We sat down at a table and served ourselves with the free popcorn that was offered. I love it when places do this.
Now… Onto the food reviews:
Hot cajun BBQ wings:
The wings were crispy and smothered in the delicious sauce. I’m a big fan of sauces so I love saucy wings. The downside was that the wings themselves were very small. I would order them again though.
Bananza Burger:
A burger with BBQ sauce, american cheese, and thick onion rings it it. Again, a lot of BBQ but I love it. The burger was great, the thick home style onion rings made it. The burger patty itself was small though. The bun dwarfed it which was upsetting. It was also cooked very well done when I ordered it medium rare. I hate when that happens.
The burger was served with hand cut fries which were awesome, I can only imagine what their cheese fries taste like.
In short, this buffalo pub is a great place to go out with friends, watch the game (on their MASSIVE TV), and drink your faces off. Then when you get the munchies, the menu will definitely satisfy. I don’t give Gordon’s 5 stars because of the little things. When I go back, maybe it will be better. I recommend going here and trying it for yourself.

Great neighborhood pub with a solid jukebox and maybe the best wings in Buffalo. Bartenders are always friendly, and owners (Corey and Jay) are frequently serving.
Oh, and they have a running club on Tuesday nights. Guilt-​free drinking after a loop of the Park.
