First purchased coffee in 6 months, and I bought it here. I love warm milk. And I realized over the summer that I bought warm coffee year round largely because I love milk. Coffee went by the wayside July 28, and I admit to not missing it much. Certainly not missing those cups either. But I came up from the parking lot into this building and vaguely noticed the coffee shop because I was marking where I needed to go back down to the parking lot. As I came back through the building to get to my car I was very frustrated. I’d been sent from floor to floor looking for a government office in a nearby building. And when I finally found what I was looking for they were not as helpful as I had hoped. Combine that with some time to kill and I went and got a latte. It was soooo good. Lots of warm milk foam. Topped with cinnamon and chocolate powders. Super pleasant employees. Clean environment. Free newspapers. I totally understand why this coffee shop gets great ratings!

I wish I could agree with all the other 4 and 5 star reviews on here, but I’ve given this place a try at least 3 times over a period of a few months and each time was really disappointed. All their espresso drinks taste really bitter(latte, cappuccino, americano). I love great coffee and I am always on a hunt for good espresso drinks(i must admit they’re hard to find in Buffalo) and this place is just not it. I drink coffee with no sugar or sweeteners, but the bitterness thats in these espresso drinks is really unbearable. I must mention that I moved here from the west coast and this coffee shop would not survive in the west where people know what good espresso tastes like. I really hope they improve. I like their staff and the fact that they roast their own coffee beans and it does smell wonderful in there. The décor in this coffee shop is also unique and inviting. If you’re not a coffee snob like me and can’t tell the difference, you’ll like this place.

Since moving downtown over a year ago now it’s my go to place for coffee when I get the chance for an afternoon coffee fix. I really like that they offer a different flavor on a regular basis. Not sure if it’s a daily change or weekly but it’s been different every time I’ve been. My only wish is that they would be open on the weekends as there isn’t much downtown open except for Tim Hortons and I would much rather start my day with a great coup of coffee.

Some of the best coffee I’ve had anywhere, freshly roasted on site by a super great staff. They even give a little discount to those who bring in their own mugs and save them the disposable cup. Also… –Lots of their pastries are also made by local bakeries — just ask them. –The vibe and décor is a refreshing change from your typical coffee shop. –They have a pre-paid card available which gets you a free coffee and helps to avoid the $ 5 minimum for credit cards. A visit here is a great way to kickoff your day.

Good coffee, friendly staff. $ 5 minimum for credit card use. Has all the basics and a lot of specialty drinks too.

A small and perfect commuter oasis. The coffee is inexpensive and delicious. Everything is extremely fresh. I’ve purchased their coffee beans for home and will definitely do so again. Love it. It’s such a treat!

The nicest people ever even made us espresso right before closing so for the staff they get an A that being said… I’m in a band and we tour the whole country and this is literally the worst ice coffee I’ve ever had. It’s bitter and watered down. Tastes burnt. All around a big no.

Oh the smell of this place. If you like the smell of coffee it will smell like heaven. In addition to the wonderful smells, the prices are super low, the coffee is really good, and it usually has a short line in the morning full of business professionals who work downtown. I would highly recommend the light roast of they have it that day and a crumble cake. It was out of this world. I would say that this place is one of many hidden gems on downtown Buffalo, and if you like to patronize local business, go here.

Gray day. Dirty city. Feet are wet, you are freezing, going to your thankless, mind-numbing job. Your life has become a Russian novel, and not one of the funny ones. Standing outside a failed downtown mall, waiting for the train. And then it hits you. The most heavenly smell ever: beans. Freshly roasting coffee beans, to be precise. Like the sage Toucan Sam always instructed you, you follow your nose. Ah, Coffee Roastery. Well, it can’t be any worse than Tim Horton’s coffee, right? You walk in. It is small. And cozy. The friendly man behind the counter hands you a cup. Why, you pour it yourself! It smells good, and this place is totally unpretentious. Now, for the real test. Really great coffee. It easily beats any other coffee in the area. It is a small space, not the type of coffee shop I’d go to study at, but for a really great cup of coffee to go this is the spot. I’ve also gotten beans for at home and they have some really good flavors. If you’re heading to Tim Hortons for coffee, I highly recommend walking down the street and trying this next time.

I absolutely love having coffee and coffee drinks from this place! While they have baked goods, granola, and such it’s really about the COFFEE, a place where you grab your cup and go. That’s fine with me because they do the coffee really well. It’s flavorful without being too burnt or too bitter, something I haven’t experienced elsewhere. My partner and I love it so much that we grabbed a bag of their grind, the flavored Bourbon Pecan coffee and it is such a treat to have at home! It’s definitely worth it to walk in just for a bag. I was also really impressed with the steamer I had. I find that some places really over flavor the crap out of specialty drinks and but at the Coffee Roastery they have the perfect balance. My one dilemma– this place needs more locations! I’d be there a lot more often if they had a spot in north Buffalo! All the same, it makes the trips to the Roastery that much more special.

This is the best coffee in the area! I love coffee and have been at quite of bit of coffee places, not only in the area but anywhere I have traveled(New Orleans, New York, Toronto, Washington, etc…) I am always getting coffee. The woman who owns this place roasts and grounds everything on location. Other than being on a coffee farm, this is as close as it gets when talking about truly fresh coffee. There is a mountain of variety of coffee too and every flavor or roast that I have had to date here is amazing. Also, they serve up great coffee house breakfast/lunch food(sandwiches, pastries, etc…) The staff is very nice and the owner is as sweet as they come. For anyone who remotely likes coffee, this place is a must go. My only wish is that this place was closer to where I live so that I could get the coffee daily.

Saw that this place actually sells fresh roasted beans, and since it’s much closer to me than Premier Gourmet where I usually get my coffee, I figured I’d check it out. It’s right at the corner in the main place mall. Basically a little coffee shop also selling beans. I just got some beans, so can’t really rate this place on its pastries or drinks. But the coffee selection is decent. I got a Tanzanian Peaberry, but they have some good options otherwise for single origin coffee. Brazil Santos, Ethiopian, Sumatra… Was quick getting in and out of the place too. I’ll be back when I need a fix for some more beans and don’t want to drive to Premier.

My Order: Almond Mocha, Raspberry Mocha(RECOMMENDED!) Pros: — The staff was lovely; very helpful and friendly — They roast their own beans, how neat! — They have free wifi — The raspberry mocha has a hint flavour of raspberry which makes the warm beverage that much more enjoyable. Cons: — Very small tables; it isn’t very student-friendly — Limited selection of desserts The mall has very few stores and restaurants to begin with. As a basis of comparison, this quaint little coffee shop is definitely a gem in the rough.

When I lived in Buffalo, this fabulous spot is where I trekked to to get my coffee. A rarely spoken of gem in Buffalo, the Buffalo Roastery has — without a doubt — the best coffee you can get in the area. This is where Betty’s Resteraunt gets their coffee(I forget the name of the blend, but it’s absolutely terrific.) Forget the burnt dishwater you get elsewhere. Buy the beans I tell you, go home, and enjoy. They roast their beans themselves, do you really need to hear more? I haven’t ever really sat down to enjoy myself there, but if I worked downtown I’d certainly be there more often.
