Great décor and atmosphere but I would not come here for the food again. The food they have are good combination but way too salty and oily.

Terrific atmosphere — those who say«hipsters and foodies» have it right. We sat at the bar, which overlooks the open kitchen, had nice chats with the bartender(of the Nova Pizza family) and the chef/owner — who prepares very interesting shots and gives them as extras to patrons(ours was based on watermelon, as I recall). The Fennel Onion Bisque and Tomato Quinhoa were amazingly good small plates on the specials menu. This is not«bar food.» It’s way beyond that. We also liked all the staff. They pitch in on every task — dishwashing, making drinks, serving. A great atmosphere. And don’t let the location in Tonawanda be a turn-off. Just head on over the Skyway and go.

I loved the décor. Warmed up right away with a Buttered Rum. The server Rose was very friendly, helpful, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. We started with the Pomme Frites, they were very flavorful, I would get them again. I had the Jerk Shrimp nachos. It was the perfect size and the cheese sauce was excellent, my only input is it definitely could have used more shrimp pieces. My friend got the Maple Charred chicken which was very juicy and lots of flavor. We split the chocolate torte, super yummy and a petite slice but the flavor went a long way.

I went here with my sister for the first time and it was awesome. We both ordered burgers and they were the best burgers that we ever tasted. The fries were awesome too. I loved the cucumber water. The service was excellent. I will be coming here again!

My friend suggested Black Iron Bystro for dinner on a Saturday night. We were seated right away and the food came out quickly as well. The creamy escargot was to die for! I had a drink called the Little Lady which was really yummy. Service was great and the food was delicious. I also loved the atmosphere. I will definitely be returning!

Loved it! Food is excellent. I’m not a fan of the dinning area as is is very cafeteria like, but the food and device totally make up for it.

It looks like this place likes to get the bad reviews removed rather than address the issues that cause them. Here’s my original review and rating again… Removed Content: Nice décor but left because menu was so limited, only 4 entrees on it. Perhaps that’s why it was so empty on a Saturday night. Would try again if they expanded the menu. How many other poor reviews were removed? I was originally disappointed that their were so few choices on their menu. Also, that this is clearly not a family friendly place because of the bland, limited food choices and uncomfortable seating. The fact that they acted like they were doing us a favor by seating us in their empty restaurant after standing there for several minutes would indicate that as well. Now that I have some insight to their shady social media strategy I would not go back there period. Clearly they would rather work on their social media graph to bamboozle new customers than do anything constructive to improve their restaurant to get customers to return. With so many great choices for dining in the Buffalo Metro area I highly suggest you try one of them than go to the Black Iron Bystro.

If I could eat here every day I totally would. Staff is amazing as well. I recommend going early and having one of their homemade cocktail suggestions. And wear your yoga pants because you will be full as hell.

I visited the Black Iron Bystro about 8 months ago with my father. we walked in and were nicely greeted, still feeling the place out we asked the hostess if we could just start by sitting at the bar and having a drink, she said yes so we did. There were not many people dining yet and my dad and i were unsure of the menu so we sat down and ordered drinks first. I got a gin cocktail that was actually quite amazing and refreshing and my dad tried a hamburg beer, The«bar» is very small, there are only about 4 – 6 seats available. The atmosphere is very cool, from the bar you can see right into the kitchen where you can see them preparing your food. Eventually we ended up getting a table and reviewed the menu, very interesting dishes were available. My dad an i both god the lamb dish that was available. It was my first time trying lamb so i was certainly taking a risk but enjoyed every bite. My dad was very impressed with everything and the service was wonderful as well! I will certainly be coming back!

LOVE the atmosphere — very hip & cool. VERY discouraged with their(small) menu. Everything was so BLAH. Beets… fennel.blah. Give me more MEAT! The whole table(of 8) struggled with finding something to order. This is definitely not a meat-lover’s restaurant. Most people had no choice but to order the steak & frites — which, from what I heard was just«ok». I ordered the paella and was totally unimpressed. Very plain and DRY. So dry. I didn’t even eat my leftovers(and that never happens!) Service was very friendly and attentive. I just wish their food was better.

Being originally from Blasdell and a foodie, it’s great that this small town has an amazing restaurant where locals don’t have to venture down town for 5 star dishes. This place has a great staff and our server David was beyond awesome and enthusiastic about the food. We had a lavender infused gin spritzer… yummy and refreshing! I had the burger and my husband had the shrimp tostada. His was served cold, so I didn’t try it. He loved it and we enjoyed my burger with fries. We also split the panzella salad with delicious heirloom tomatoes and garlic knots. We would have liked a bit more mozzarella cheese, but it was very delicious food. We will be returning soon!

Stopped in on a whim because I needed to treat myself after a tough day. Was impressed by the cool interior, funky décor and attentive waitstaff. Ordered off the specials menu and was not disappointed, the pan seared scallops were to die for! Key lime pie was the only dessert offering but it was a standout! I plan to stop by again when I am back in town, this place is a find!

I visited Black Iron Bystro for the first time the other day. It is a cool little place with indoor and outdoor seating. My accompaniment and I decided to sit inside though. We were greeted right away and she explained the drink list. Small drink list but seemed like it was mostly local. We ordered sodas(non traditional type). They do not have Pepsi, coke, etc. She also left a wine bottle of water on the table that tasted like cucumber water. After receiving out drinks, she went over the specials. The menu is quite small but I like that because it allows them to focus on the food they are making. There were a few specials like pappardelle and meatballs, turkey leg, stuffed squash with chicken and herbs, etc. I went for the pork bahn Jo. It was a smoked pork sand which with pickled red onion, jalapeños, and white bean spread. The pork was delicious but the jalapeños killed me. They were sliced too thick and too frequent on the sand which. I love heat but this was a little much. The sand which came with hand cut fries. I’m not a big French fry person so I can’t judge these. My accompaniment got the pappardelle and meatballs. He said it was good but it was small portion. We also ordered the cheese plate that came with pickled string beans, oil cured black olives, grapes, and toasted baguette. The cheese on the plate was Brie, fresh mozzarella, blue(Stilton?) and another cheese I couldn’t pinpoint what it was. It was close to a cheddar. It was good. I could of ate just that. We ended with the peanut butter pie – really light and creamy. To sum this up, overall really good food, definitely homemade, cool atmosphere. It wasn’t cheap however. I wouldn’t go back every weekend but I definitely return.

Stopped in for the first time this past Friday night. We didn’t have a reservation and still only waited 20 minutes. That was nice because it gave us the opportunity to have a seat at the bar and have a drink while we waited. The restaurant is small with a industrial décor, really cool. The menu is small, which I loved. It had everything you’d need without all the extras you dont. My husband and I both ordered from the Chefs specials for that night. I ordered the Ocean Perch. It was incredible and I wish I could eat it every day. Perfect balance of flavors and the perfect size meal. My husband ordered the Roasted Turkey Leg, which he loved too. To sum it up– Great Place, we will be going back, excellent food.

Who would think you would find this type of menu and this quality in a small town place. We had the best meal and great cocktails. Give this place a try you won’t be disappointed.

Had a dinner date here with the wife the other night and it was great. Like others have noted the atmosphere is very hipster cool. This place seems like it should be in Allentown, but it’s a great addition to the Southtowns for sure. You can see online it’s not a huge menu but I think that only allows them to do those few dishes exceptionally well. They did have some specials for the night. Between the wife and I we had soups each, a root vegetable soup and then a beer and cheese one. Both were good. Then we split two specials in some jamaican jerk pork sandwiches and beef on weck wings(basically wings with salt and caraway with a horseradish bleu cheese) Also had the regular menu scallops in a wine reduction. The wings could have used more caraway but the dipping sauce was great. Scallops and and pork sandwiches were fantastic. Great atmosphere and food, what more do you need? Drinks of course, and they got ya covered there too. The draft list again is not huge but it’s just craft beer and they managed to carry two I have never had, which is saying something. They also have a nice cocktail list. My wife got the orchard and it was quite tasty. If you want to feel like your part of the young cool hip crowd but don’t want to deal with going into the city, I suggest stopping here. You shouldn’t be dissappointed.

Excellent food excellent service really like the atmosphere. We had the winter salad charcuterie board and air land and sea special. Which was chicken steak and scallops chicken you could cut with a butter knife scallops seasoned just right and cooked perfectly steak was medium rare I I thought delicious my husband thought soft on the inside and a little tough but still good charcuterie board had several different cheeses and meats crostini were crispy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside delicious and not not so crunchy that they broke upon eating Wine by the glass was good not like a usual bar wine

YES!!! What else can I say? Fantastic? Perfect? These are all descriptive words that don’t even begin to describe the dining experience at Black Iron Bystro. Major anniversary. What to do? How about try a local establishment? Wisest choice ever. Cool interior that does not belong to the South Towns. I constantly double checked. Is this lower Manhattan or is this South Buffalo? Small, former printing plant. Open kitchen venue, if that is what you like. The food… well, I can go on forever. Hubby had the duck sliders(I cook the oily schmucks however I am not a fan) followed by scallops. I ordered the arancini with the rancher steak — DONERARE!!! LIKEYOUWOULDNOTBELIEVERARE!!! Everything was perfect. Including the wine, a Malbec from Mendoza. This was so good I am taking my daughter, who shares my love of raw/undercooked steak, out to dinner next week. Closest to heaven she will get with respect to food in the upcoming months. Wow. So close yet it took me so long to get here.
