Oh my Big Suzie’s… I am a fan of desserts and treats, but as someone who likes and understands how to bake, I don’t just like any old thing and I am pretty discerning. I have to say though, Big Suzie’s definitely knows what they are doing and they are doing it well. It is easy to make something that is just sweet, but to make moist, flavorful, and decadent treats, presented professionally definitely knocks it out of the park for me. Big Suzie’s is big, meaning you get big servings that can easily be shared by two(or more) people as noted on the menu. The prices reflect that, but also the quality so I felt ok with that purchase. I would only feel that the prices/portion size might hold someone back from trying them if they didn’t have someone to share a treat with or couldn’t save part of it for later. Whatever, just have dessert for your meal! :-) I tried both the coconut cream pie as well as the carrot cake. The coconut cream pie would be a hefty dessert, even splitting it in two! It is served in a pie tin and has a graham cracker crust, a super coconut-y rich custard, and is topped with fresh whipped cream and toasted coconut. I love coconut a lot and this checked all the boxes for me. The custard is so thick, filled with coconut, but not too sweet. Flavoring with coconut can either leave you with no coconut flavor, or an artificial/overbearing taste, but this nailed it. The whipped cream and the toasted coconut on top, giving it a caramel-like flavor, just add to it. I am going to savor every bite of this. Carrot cake can also be a tricky treat as it can be easily dried out. I don’t even like carrots, but I love carrot cake so much! Some people try to cover up carrot cake with cream cheese frosting rather than complement it, but not Suzie’s! This had to have been the most moist carrot cake I have ever had. Loaded with chunks of walnuts, it just melted in my mouth. The cream cheese frosting retained that tangy flavor and was just a sweet complement to the mild sweetness of the cake. I hate overly sweet cream cheese frosting, and this was just perfect. Even after sticking my fridge for a while on this hot day, the cake was still super moist. This slice was also huge and plenty for multiple people/servings for later. A picture says a thousand(more) words, so I had to take some photos. Everything was packaged nicely in sturdy bakery boxes, and they offered me forks and a bag. The logo is awesome too! You need to check out Big Suzie’s the next time you see that adorable truck drive by!
