Absolutely terrible customer service. I called them on a Saturday to have my basement drains cleared. That went OK, but the water backed up again. They said they would come back to camera my lines for free and my warranty would be based on that camera. They «no showed» my camera appointments two times. I took off work for one of them. Then the drains backed up again and caused damage to my basement. These guys are the worst. I’ll never call them again.

After having a very old, very large pipe crack in my basement, and not being able to run water for very long before water sprayed everywhere we decided to call a plumber. We started with Roto Rooter. These clowns came out, and found that we had a abundance of roots in our outgoing pipe causing a backup. They then gave my wife some BS about how they need to put a clean out in our front yard for $ 5600 because they couldn’t fit the correct removal tool into our pipe to clear it of the obstruction. They stressed that we wouldnt be able to use ANY water in the house until this was done… even though I took a shower a few hours before??? I talked to whoever on the phone and knew he was full of it from his urgency and scare tactics that he laid on my wifes conscience, this didn’t work on me. On top of them lying, not having the knowledge, or tools needed to complete the job, they still charged us $ 600 for getting absolutely nothing done!!! They were clearly trying to take advantage of people that know no better, and they left us a absolute mess of OUR RAGS that they used to clean up after themselves. These people are totally unethical. DO NOT USE ROTO ROOTER!!!
I then called a local company that cleared the pipe in a matter of a couple hours for $ 550. Then I had to call RR back to get a full refund, which wasn’t too hard. The complaint department was my only good experience with RR.

I have depended on Roto-​Rooter, in Buffalo Grove, for many of my home improvement projects over the many years I’ve lived in the NW Suburbs. I have always found them to be prompt, professional, and skilled.
Recently, I called them for an emergency repair. Unfortunately, the technician, Patrick #1899, was not able to fix the problem before the event at our home. He did, however, explain, in detail, the issue and how it could be repaired. He scheduled a visit for a couple of days later. To save cost, Patrick explained what I could do to help.
After preparing the site of the issue, Patrick arrived, as scheduled, and repaired the problem. In fact, he installed a feature where I could simply take care of the problem, should it happen again (clogged drain). The cost was less than we discussed initially.
I am very happy with the service I receive, and have received, from Roto-​Rooter. I have always had the same two technicians, Patrick and Milenko, to my home. As stated earlier, I have always found them to be helpful and fair.
I am a satisfied customer and will continue to us Roto-​Rooter services.

We had these guys out for an estimate on replacing our sewer line and fixing our ejector pump. They gave us an estimate of 10,000 to replace the ejector pump, citing it was a commercial grade pump and they would have to dig a new pit in order to replace it.
After getting estimate from 3 other companies, each of them told me the same. The ejector pump did not need to be replaced. Ejector pumps very rarely need to be replaced. It was an electrical problem and I should contact an electrician to get it repaired.
They can another totally way high estimate to replace the sewer line (about triple other companies estimate).
They charged for the estimate too.
They get the rating for being unethical and charging exorbitant amounts of money for their service
