My friend and I stayed here while we rode ATV’s for a few days. It’s old, but its history is very interesting. If you’re looking for modern amenities, this isn’t the place. The only thing modern is decent wifi and a TV/remote lol. I believe some rooms offer a micro/fridge but ours had neither. The owners(who appear to live behind the office) are extremely friendly and accommodating(and we initially checked in the first night close to midnight). Our room was pretty spacious, as was the bathroom, and the central location in town is great. We spent virtually no time in our room so I would stay here again. If we were going to spend a lot of down time in our room, I probably wouldn’t. The 1950’s yellow, green and pink tile in the bathroom is adorable; so is the midget bathtub. This is one of the most beautiful areas in Colorado, so I am pretty content just to be in BV.

The topaz inn is a fine place to stay– it’s no Ritz Carlton but it’s clean and safe. Topaz allows pets in some of their rooms too! It definitely needs an update, but it is inexpensive and a good place to rest your head after a long day of travel. There is no AC, but you are in the mountains so it cools down nicely at night. It’s walking distance from all of the bars and restaurants in town too. If you passing through I wouldn’t hesitate to book it!

On a whim I decided to overnight in BV. I assume this is the cheapest place in town. Since I wasn’t going to be spending much time in the room, I did not want to spend much. For $ 60 bucks there was a clean room with cable and Internet. There was no bath tub, no hair dryer, and indoor/outdoor carpet. The bed was worn out to say the least. Very nice flat screen TV though! I’m not sure I would ever want to stay here in the summer. It could be noisy if the windows were open, not to mention hot. Probably for not a whole lot more you could find a nicer place nearby. If you are camping and get rained out or are doing something outdoorsy with lots of gear; this is probably a good spot for a night. It is convenient to walk to several great spots.

Well, I’ll start with the positives. The staff is friendly. The location is central. The rooms are clean. Now with that being said… lets go onto the reasons why I wouldn’t stay here again. The hotel was probably a nice motel back when it first opened up in the early 1900’s. Fast forward 70 years later… the place hasn’t been updated at all. This place reminds me of something out of E. Colfax in Denver… but surrounded by a better view of the mountains. The room was super hot due to the lack of AC. The room also had that old motel smell to it.

This motel is older but found it to be clean and bot too expensive. Owner was very pleasant.

It’s OK — it depends on your expectations. It is a old place(probably 1940’s or early 50’s). There is only so much they can do with it … so if you like a well lighted, open place with modern facilities — then don’t stay here! On the other hand if you just want a place to sleep with a kitchen and you don’t need nothing fancy then this might work for you.

My friend stayed here for a couple of nights and really liked it. It’s a good«budget motel» type of place in the center of town. Everything was clean. And their prices are much lower than the Super 8 and Best Western up the street.

My family and I stayed at the Topaz Lodge two nights, even after I read the one review that happend to be negative. The owners were great! The Topaz is older, but it is still nice. Our room was nice, smelled clean, looked clean and was clean. Two small complaints: 1) No refridgerator. 2) The light outside the room was very bright and unfortunately the curtains did not keep the light out, that would be something I would like fixed before we stay again… yes, we would stay again.
