This has become our spot from now on for breakfast every time we visit Buena Vista. We got the most cheerful good morning one can get. So welcoming and warm. The food is made to order, fresh and delish! My wife and I went there while celebrating our wedding anniversary, the second morning we were in, the owner/cook was greeting us so warmly. Definitely the place for breakfast and that delicious bread pudding! Heavenly little treat!

We love the Evergreen Café for breakfast in Buena Vista. The staff is always friendly, and the food is always good. I’ve tried about everything on the menu, and I think my favorites are the huevos rancheros and the half order of biscuits and gravy with a side of poached eggs. My husband loves the Eggs St. Elmo and Eggs Vicksburg. You really can’t beat the price and quality of this restaurant for a solid breakfast or lunch. This is our go-to place for breakfast anytime we’re in the area. I do have two things that I’d like to maybe see changed(in an ideal world), but they’re not enough to remove a star. First, they’re a little stingy on the home fries. Their home fries are so delicious that I always want more, no matter what — but the last few times in, I was a little disappointed with the portion sizes. I counted 18 home fries on my plate of huevos rancheros. Second, is though I LOVE the assortment of Eggs Benedict, the English muffins are always toasted too tough for me to easily cut through with a butter knife. I’ve tried two different benedicts and had this issue both times. The hollandaise sauce is VERY good, and also very plenty — I usually order mine on the side.

Solid choice for breakfast. The menu is creative and the prices are good. There’s something for everyone here. My black bean burrito wasn’t the best ever, but it was good. I’ll definitely come back.

Maybe they are better for breakfast. Maybe if you are vegetarian you will find something worth eating. Maybe you will have better service. Stay away from the cinnamon roll(tough and chewy) and the French Dip(thinly sliced deli meat). Coffee was good.

Do yourself a favor and sit at the counter so you can watch this well oiled machine crank out breakfast with a smile. Fantastic team working here, solid breakfast, great start to our New Years Day adventures.

The Evergreen Café hit the spot for all of us! Five of us were looking for a good breakfast. We found a delicious breakfast! Everything was fresh and tasty. We had the huevos rancheros, challah French toast, eggs florentine, chili and cheese omelet, bacon sausage omelet with a blueberry pancake on the side, pus a carrot/coconut/almond muffiin. All were wonderful. We will be back!

We have always thought that it is kind of hard to find places to eat in Buena Vista. Well, now it’s a little easier. My Killer Burger was really good. Next time though, I’ll get a different side. My french fries were limp and greasy, as though they were undercooked. Not the way I like ‘em at all.

Sat outside with gorgeous views of the mountains! Food was delicious, I got the Eggs Alpine — homemade sausage gravy — to die! Service was excellent!

I love visiting the café on the way home from Buena Vista. It’s located on the other side of town away from the bustle and offers the best breakfast in town. For under $ 10, you can get a fully-loaded breakfast to die for. The ham in particular is always amazing here as a side, along with the egg sandwich and home fries.

I used to eat here often back in the 90’s when I was a raft guide. Good old Evergreen Café. Friendly vibe small town goodness. Biscuits and gravy went down well.

This is your quintessential diner experience. To further that, we ended up sitting at the bar to avoid the long wait. We went with the standard American breakfast and it was pretty much what you’d expect. I was extremely happy with how attentive everyone was and how quickly they move the tables. Definitely worth the experience and the food!

Small, quaint, and right off the main highway. It’s been a few years since I’ve eaten here as I’ve missed our annual colorado vacation the past few years. I was really looking forward to the sweet potato and black bean breakfast bowl and I wasn’t dissapointed! It was still on the menu and as delicious as I remembered. Throw and egg on top and I’m in heaven! The staff is busy but very attentive. I was never left waiting and my drink was always full. I was so hungry that I ordered a second plate of food and had it in a split second. If you’re looking for a quick breakfast, grab a seat at the bar. The locals will chat with you and love to hear that you’re visiting. If you’re looking for a little more relaxed breakfast, grab a table. Tip: $ 4.95 breakfast from a limited menu from 6:30 — 8:30. Well worth it if you’re looking for a slightly smaller, traditional breakfast.

Perfect place to stop for breakfast! I ordered the Vicksburg scramble with green chili. They were very accommodating with my daughter’s gluten-free needs. Great service. This pace is quaint and a must!

What a great little place. We stopped by on a Tuesday afternoon and were greeted right away. Sat on the sunny patio and ordered drinks. The iced tea was fresh even late in the day. I finally decided on the salmon sandwich, with gluten free bread. Without asking the waitress also named off all the gluten free sides and when I decided on a salad wrote to take off the croutons. SOATTENTIVE! The miso dressing is awesome, and so is the salmon sandwich the chipotle mayo was a little extra hot, AND the GF bread is really good too. The portions are a little small but I didn’t leave feeling hungry, just perfectly satisfied. I could see why they were busy and still had people stopping by even after they were closed. I’m willing to bet if they stayed open till 3, instead of 2… no one would complain!

This place is a-ok as the three stars indicate. The service is quick, there’s counter as well as table seating. The waitress was efficient and checked on us a couple times. They had a variety of Benedict’s and I tried the California one with the tomato and avocado. It was good, I wish the whites would have been cooked thru, they were too runny for my taste. Hubby and MIL both enjoyed their dishes. I’m glad we stopped to support this local business

Average breakfast, fun local place. I had the huevos rancheros, it was good. The potatoes are the frozen squares you buy and heat up. The cinnamon rolls are not made by them either. But enough with the negatives. Part of going to a new place when you travel is experiencing the local places. There is nothing wrong with the breakfast, and the atmosphere is homey. Coffee is good. I would go back and try a few more dishes to figure out what I like the best.

It kinda sucks, but Unilocal and similar websites have taken away some of the fun of dining on the road: You can screen everything beforehand and never experience the pleasant surprise of stumbling upon a gem. But we got that sensation with the Evergreen Café, because we chose it Unilocal-free. We were on the way from Denver to Durango and popped into this little roadside restaurant for lunch, based almost entirely on its homey, yet colorful, diner appearance. A lucky, excellent choice. The Evergreen Café seems like an almost prototypical super-casual-and-laid-back sorta-hippie Colorado mountain-town enterprise.(OK, maybe not«sorta»: the radio was tuned to a Grateful Dead XM show the first time we were there.) The front area features a wonderfully preserved old-school diner counter, and the back area is painted in an appealing blue, yellow, and green scheme and is very comfortable. That was all appealing enough, but the food was what won us over. We went twice, on successive weekends(we stayed in Buena Vista overnight on the return trip to DIA), and, between the two of us, we had four different sandwiches that were all quite good: a tuna melt, the Mt. Elbert(a chicken sandwich with bacon, guacamole, and American cheese), a turkey reuben, and the Arkansas(turkey, bacon, tomato, guacamole, chipotle mayo, & cheddar jack on a very nice grilled flatbread). Sides were really nice, too: a simple but fresh side salad, a «sweet cabbage salad»(thankfully, more umami than sweet), and handcut fries. Service was very casual, but friendly. Prices are well within the range of reasonableness. 4.25 stars. P. S. The Evergreen Café is for sale. I would hate to see someone else take it over and change much about it. P. P. S. As for that English gal who was put off by the purportedly unfashionable locals, she should have realized that small-town Colorado mountain folks weren’t going to be too keen on her Celine Dion t-shirt. I didn’t get any strange looks with the shirt I got at TJ Maxx.
