The service here is sort of bad… BUT the food is pretty decent. Worth the money. I sat down for a good 10 minutes before being able to get the server’s attention for a menu. My friend arrived and I told him I was waiting for the menu and he ended up having to get up and ask for it. Later on, I was waiting for the server to bring me my katsu sauce but I had to remind him minutes later again for it because he clearly forgot. Granted he was the only server, we were one of the first ones there at 11:30a(opens at 11a). Note: Food takes a while, so if you go hungry, be patient The food I ordered the donkatsu & soba combo. Worth it. The soba noodles had the perfect contrast to the katsu. The meat was tender and not at all chewy. Perfect for me. Despite the service, I really liked this place :)

Not really looking for a place until I saw the reviews and menu, well especially thanks to the photos which helped a lot! Was in the area looking for something to eat and glad I found this place! The food is fulfilling and the portions are huge. I’ve got a big appetite when I came so a dinner for two became one, for me hehe I was really hungry honestly! I’d definitely come back again when I’m around the area. I just wish though they have one back in San Diego; I’d totally go there every weekend hehe

Love this place. Been coming here for years. My favorite donkatsu restaurant in OC. Service is nice but it’s the food that makes this place bomb!

The first thing I thought when I came into Yoko was huh — I see comic book posters lined up against a fairly traditional Korean backdrop. The last thing I thought leaving Wako was a oh man — my stomach is super full. My conclusion(at least from the first visit)? Yoko is a really solid donkatsu spot that really does remind me of Wako as some other Unilocalers noted. One thing I love about the place is the simple menu — there’s different donkatsu and some sides/udon options(along with combos). We got the main pork donkatsu and udon combo which is about $ 13. For that price, you get two fairly big-sized portions. The donkatsu comes with a salad with some sesame dressing along with shrimp and potato both deep-fried. The udon came with a fried tofu, the udon itself and some deep-fried crumbs. There was also the traditional sesame seed grind while you wait and rice(I think) needs to be requested. You were also given a side of some of the kimchi blocks and soy sauce jalapenos(wish there were more sides though). The food all-around is filling and tasty. The donkatsu is pretty much how you’d imagine along with the sauce. The udon isn’t too memorable but had a good flavor(did wish it had a bit more interesting ingredients to include). Parking is plentiful — no big worries about that(although the parking is a little wonky with crazy drivers all over). The service wasn’t too bad. As with most Korean establishments, you’re at a bit more of an advantage if you have some Korean knowledge but the servers(at least when we went) did speak English as well. Expect a little bit of a wait depending when you come by as well. The area around is not as fancy as Yoko.

LOVEIT! I’ve been here every time, and I leave satisfied every single time! The wait is really bad if you go during the dinner rush, but at least the food make you feel like it’s worth the wait. I feel like they’re always under staffed, and the service is just okay. Food wise — My favorite is the donkatsu combo with soba. I think the sesame seeds that they give you to go with the sauce is best when you don’t grind them down too thin. The place is in the same shopping center as Rite-Aid, so I always pick up some ice cream after dinner.

Yummy in my tummy!!! Best donkatsu I ever have!!! Portion is huge! Especially the combination one. Get the combination because it comes with side orders like soba or udon or sushi. They are delicious too!!! Price is decent too! Problem is that the place is so tiny! Service is fast but it depends on the ppl who are eating inside. So during lunch and dinner time, expect a long wait. Hope the owner is considering about expanding the business or opening up another one in different location cuz it’s that good! =D

Cute place in a quiet shopping center. Went around 1:30 pm for lunch and it wasn’t too busy– only had to wait around 5 minutes for them to clear a table. Service: good, not fantastic, but nothing rude or terrible happened so I won’t take a star off for it. Two major notes about this place: CHEESE tonkatsu and PORTIONS!!! I have never eaten tonkatsu so unique; the cheese is cooked in between the breading and the pork so when it comes out, the cheese is at the perfect gooey consistency. In my opinion, it would be hard to find this highlight elsewhere at such good quality. My partner and I ate one cheese tonkatsu, one kimchi cheese tonkatsu, and a spicy tuna roll/tempura ramen combo because we were extremely hungry, but one order of food is already a huge serving for one person.(Yes we eat a lot. Please be conscious of the amount you can eat!) Nonetheless, the quantity does not harm the quality and I would definitely come here again for a casual lunch.

Ok, I usually or almost never written a review for any restaurant, but the two waitresses tonight are just simply«HORRIBLE». Everything you need needs be requested MULTIPLE times and you will get them with«ATTITUDE». I almost feel sorry for myself for being here because I feltl«DISCRIMINATED» imagine how TERRIBLE the service was. Thanks to the young waitress with straight bang I had a «RIDICULOUSLYBAD» dinning experience for the first time.

Honestly speaking I liked the food, but the service is terrible. We were the only party who weren’t Korean & we can definitely feel the discrimination. During the whole entire meal, we were extremely courteous & respectful. We made sure to thank the waitresses every time they brought things out. However, the waitresses pretty much ignored our table. I had to ask for straws 3 times before they actually brought it out. And when we wanted to add another bowl of rice, I had to make it very obvious in order to get the waitress’s attention. The waitresses really fall into the stereotype that Koreans are racist against all other Asians who are not Korean. Especially the young, chubby waitress with straight bangs. Our water cups were empty for a good 15 minutes but she just ignored it as she refilled this other table’s water twice. And of course that table was composed of Koreans. After waiting around and knowing she will never come refill our water, I had to wave her down to get some water. We can see this irritation on her face, as if she’s telling us to leave already. Halfway during our meal, the same waitress just dropped off the check without saying anything. Did not apologize for giving us the check early or asked if we needed Togo boxes. We were the only table who got the check. She did not do the same to other tables who came before us. And when we asked her for a Togo box, she didn’t even bother making eye contact when she asked how many. Then she proceeded to do other things when she had so many chances to give us the box. After waiting for 5 – 10 minutes and knowing she is intentionally wasting our time, we just paid the bill and left. There was a good half order of cheese Katsu we left behind. The service completely ruined our meal. Thanks to the service we received, never will I step foot in this restaurant again. I believe no customer should ever feel discriminated against when dining at a restaurant. Especially when we drove out of our way to support this business.

Was looking up restaurants that opened until at least 10 pm yesterday and found Yoko. This is a Korean-owned Japanese donkatsu restaurant. This restaurant is located at the corner of a strip mall, near a few coffee shops. I always love how we get to grind our own sesame seeds and then they come and pour the donkatsu sauce. It brings a level of freshness to the donkatsu sauce. Donkatsu Combo + Crunchy Roll The portions are huge and the variety of donkatsu plenty! The pork in the donkatsu for me was a bit dry. Maybe if I had ordered the one with cheese, it would’ve been a bit more moist. The 4 pieces of crunchy roll aren’t what I had expected, there was a outer layer of panko instead of crunchy tempera. Yes, what was I thinking of ordering sushi at a Korean restaurant but usually they aren’t that far off. It was still good but in its own right. It is their own twist on a crunchy roll. There were also salad, braised peppers and radish kimchi with our donkatsu orders. If you order a combo, one does not get rice because of the roll(california or crunchy), soba, udon, or etc. that comes with it. Since it is the holiday season, I really liked their all out Christmas decked interior and Christmas music playing in the background. The service here is to be expected, not the best but is acceptable. We said«please» and«thank you» with everything but was still met with a straight face. It is probably due to a long day? Since I do not know of any other donkatsu restaurants around, I may just continue coming back and try the other donkatsu variations. Very affordable and good portions!

Affordable. Big portions. Decent quality. What more can you ask for?! You just can’t go wrong with Yoko!!! It’s one of the go-to spots in Buena Park… Yoko. You got some gooood katsu combos for $ 12.95! I get the udon or soba + donkatsu or when i’m feeling naughty, I’ll get the oooooooey gooey cheese katsu! Each katsu combo comes with a side of cabbage salad, jalapeño slices drenched in this yummy soy sauce base, and cubed korean spicy radishes which compliments the crunchy and deliciously deep-fried katsu! The best part about Yoko is the sauce. They give you sesame seeds to grind up first and then they come pour the sauce. It’s probably the best nutty, savory, yet sweet sauce that would make your tastebuds go wild! So come on by if you’re ever feelin’ katsu!!! ^___^

Great udon on the cheap! It was a cold Friday night, and I was craving a hot soup. When we arrived at Yoko, we were seated right away at the one open table in the center of the restaurant. Fairly simple menu. Katsu or Udon. There are combo deals to add various sides. I had the Tempura Udon with Spicy Tuna Roll for $ 10. The udon noodles were chewy and not mushy, and the soup was not bad. The tempura shrimps were good, but the little bits of tempura on the veggies after they got soggy felt like … snot — not the best texture. Overall the udon was great and inexpensive. I’ll have to come back to try the katsu. Located next to Rite Aid, with a big parking lot. Credit card’s OK!

Maybe I set my expectations a little too high, but I left a little disappointed after having read so many reviews. FOODQUALITY: Katsu with soba combo. Katsu was perfectly fried, but the pork itself was dry and had a slight rubbery texture. Flavors were really standard, but then if I were to compare it to other places then it just falls short in intensity of flavors. That and I’m not a fan of katsu being served with lettuce slathered with dressing since it’s a steep contrast when there’s already the katsu sauce to provide sourness. And it irks me that the combo doesn’t come with rice. because it really needed rice. Soba was A-OK. Chewy, but it was cold and wasn’t really dried out so there was a lot of water in every bite. The dashi was overly sweet, only gave a bit of saltiness, and seemed watered down. SERVICE: Was. . OK. ENVIRONMENT: Tiny, a bit squishy but comfortable. It’s warm and inviting but it can get loud when it’s full. Overall, disappointed. I don’t think I’d want to come back here if there were other katsu places around.

I LAVVYOKO! :) They have some of the best udon and katsu I’ve ever had! I come here a lot with my friends and it never disappoints. Rundown: — Yoko is located in the corner of the Rite Aid plaza. It’s a small but busy shop that has both dine in and take out. — I normally get the udon and crunch roll combo. :) I just really like the texture of their udon. I think it’s made really well and the broth is very flavorful. — The Katsu is also great!(I can never finish it… thats why I never get it.) It’s always crispy and fresh and it comes with a coleslaw salad so you don’t feel too greasy after you eat it. — The shop opens late. — The food is always hot like it just came out of the kitchen so be careful. This is a place I like taking family when they visit. :) It’s definitely worth a try.

Very good donkatsu restaurant, plenty of parking outside, but not nearly as enough seating inside. I’ve come here twice, I was just as pleased the second time as I was the first and I had actually forgotten that I had been here before. I combo the chicken katsu, moist cook on the chicken wonderfully done, crispy cover cooked perfectly. I was very pleased with the taste and texture. You get to grind your sesame seeds after you get seated which is neat, I enjoy being apart of the experience. Try to grind it up really well so you get the grainy taste into the sauce. The menu is very simple, so you don’t have to flip through pages looking for what you want, you’ll decide fairly quick. I like these menus better as they have a better specialty in what they cook, so you don’t end up get a second place meal. For my donkatsu fix I know where I’ll be coming back next. Right here.

Such a cute little restaurant! Price: is affordable for debt-ridden college kids such as myself. Plus, the portions are pretty big so you can prob share with someone! Katsu meals are no more than $ 12, Rolls less than $ 9, Udon noodles under $ 8. There is also a combo of your choice for $ 13(uncle got noodles and katsu). Food: Chicken & beef Katsu are delish. Both of them came with salad topped with authentic tasting dressing. My ultimate fav here was the Cali Roll! Service: Awesome! Quick to greet their customers and speedy delivery.

I love Japanese food and one of my favorite dishes is the pork katsu with curry but truthfully, I was really intrigued with the idea of a cheese stuffed prom katsu lol The wait was about 15 mins on a Friday. Not bad at all. I ordered the donkatsu curry and my BF ordered the donkatsu combo with udon. I love they let us grind our own sesame seeds for the katsu sauce. The best katsu sauce ever! It reminded me of… A1 sauce! Haha The katsu was crispy and not oily… I like how to don’t use MSG or trans-fats. The combo doesn’t come with rice but it has a cabbage slaw which is really good! The udon was OK. Nothing too special. My katsu curry was so yummy! It came with rice and a miso soup… The curry was plain without veggies or meat but it was good! Overall, the service was very attentive and the food was good! I definitely want to try the cheese-stuffed katsu next timmmeeee! I wouldn’t get the combo again… After the katsu, he was really trying to stuff the udon down. I think we might just opt for the sushi roll next time or skip the combo all together… It’s really a good deal if 2 people share that combo though! Lots of food! I’ll be back for sure!

I had this place bookmarked for the longest time but was finally able to try it out earlier this week. My girlfriend and I came in around 2:30pm and surprisingly the restaurant was packed! All the tables were taken except for one so luckily we were seated right away. Their menu is pretty small but straight forward. They offer different types of katsu, soba, udon or rolls. I went with the combo deal and ordered the katsu with udon while my friend settled with just a bowl of udon. The waitress brings out a bowl of sesame seeds for you to grind and after awhile, she’ll come back and pour in katsu sauce. The food came out pretty quickly and boy, was it a lot! The katsu came with one breaded shrimp and one potato ball. Loved the katsu. The breading was perfectly fried and the meat was soft and juicy. Don’t forget to dip it in their delicious katsu sauce! The udon however, was average. Nothing special but it was still good. The soup was a bit salty for me but i slurped up all my noodles & sipped on the soup. It was hard for me to finish everything even when I shared my katsu with my friend but for the combo deal to be only $ 12.95, it’s a great deal! definitely a bang for your buck! I plan on coming back whenever I’m craving katsu. Maybe next time I’ll pair it with the soba or a sushi roll. :)

I’ve never eaten at Yoko. We always just pick up the food and bring it home. Our pork katsu comes in a nice box. Something that looks like it holds a cool sweater from Macy’s. For the pork katsu, the box comes with a generous portion of rice and shredded cabbage. Sitting on top of it lies some of best damn katsu I’ve ever eaten. They come with 2 sauces that I don’t really know which goes to wish what item and some pickled peppers. Be careful with the peppers because they got some kick with a heat that lasts for a few minutes. We also get the udon soup, which is also a generous portion. It’s good, but the katsu is where Yoko brings down the hammer.
