Awesome Event, thanks to Chris C! Whoever missed this event, missed out BIGTIME! I have bookmarked KHD forever and I was ecstatic that Chris did an event here and I was lucky to get invited. KHD is not an AYCE Korean BBQ. You order by the plates/a la carte. The meat are lean, tender and juicy! Quality was exceptional. Customer service was phenomenal. They cook and cut up the meat for you almost never really leaving you alone to do the work except eating. The Meat: Brisket, Short Ribs –marinated and the prime were absolutely mouth watering! The most memorable dish for me was the beef tar tar. That’s right, raw beef with Asian pear. Kimchi fried rice but it wasn’t fried — shaken in a box and served! Banchan was yummy! But they don’t have the sweet potato anymore. It was an amazing experience. Especially with cooking the egg, corn and cheese on the corner vault of the grill while grilling your meat! Check out the pictures! Thank you to Chris for introducing get me to KHD and hooking us up! Had such a blast!!!

When it comes to Korean BBQ, I eat a lot of it. Meaning, there isn’t a KBBQ joint that I won’t try, along with any curious looking piece of meat, regardless of how it’s prepared, and what sides(ban chan) may tickle your fancy. Despite the tons of great restaurants out there, my moms makes the best marinade on Kalbi — PERIOD. Don’t even get me started with her Steamed Cod Fish(Eun Dae Goo Jorim). With her cooking, I’ll take the Pepsi challenge with anyone else’s shit, any day of the week. But, if you meet any Korean person that thinks their mama cooks well, we all think that our moms is the best cook in the world. Funny, right? However, KBBQ can get messy and imagine how stinky you smell when leaving the place. Now think about that place being your home, with possibly no ventilation and probably no heavy duty fan either. Unless, we be grilling outside, I go to Kang Hodong Baekjeong in Buena Park. I don’t know why you people wait so long at the LA venue. Unless, you live close by, there’s no reason to wait over an hour to eat. So I’m gonna just stick to the one closest to me. Cause, they really take care of me over here. As Jack Nicholson would say, «As Good as It Gets.» The staff are all pleasant, starting from Austin, the Manager. Yes, Austin as in Powers. As in «shall we shag now or shag later?» His minion Eric, the head chef Sung Hyun, and just a slew of waiters that work hard and have good times. «Everybody Have Fun Tonight» — Wang Chung. I’ll get comped on a few bottles of Chamisul Fresh and even a few items off the menu. During this visit — Beef Tartare with sliced Asian Pear and this Braised Pork dish that was really fantastic. Sometimes, they’ll make me some Jap Chae, which is clear Stir Fried Noodles(Chinese style). Really appreciate the ones that come out. We all know that it’s not all about the food. It’s the sincere company, the conversations, and friendship we foster. Loving every minute of that, especially with those that have treated me kindly. Guys, I got a lot more Seoul left in me. The KHDB Chapter is now closed — The KBBQ King.

There are certain things in life you just shouldn’t say no to such as when Chris C. invites you to a private Unilocal event. Chris C. he’s the man and if he can’t do it then no one can, well except Ryan C. this song doesnt apply to Ryan C. I failed to realize this was not an AYCEBBQ until after reading Steve S. review. Oops. The simplest way to describe the food was it’s the type of meal you would expect to feast on in Heaven. EVERYTHING was that delicious, amazing, outstanding, fabulous, fantastic and just ridiculously great! Brisket, short rib, pork belly and beef tartare to die for! Tender pieces of meat with so much flavor. The lunch box which was kimchi fried rice was seriously mind blowing. How good can kimchi fried rice really be? You gotta be the judge for it yourself! It’s that good and then some! The service from beginning to end was phenomenal. Without a doubt it’s an easy 5 stars. Even though it wasn’t my Birthday, it felt like my Birthday! I had four of of my favorite Unilocal buddies, also my favorites in real life to enjoy this event with Chris C, Quoc H, Isai C. and Tom R. Always good to hang out with Steve S, Ryan P, Marissa S and Grace C. Thanks Chris for making it happen! You are just so amazing!

Been wanting to try KHD and there’s no better way to do it than with Chris C who pretty much knows everyone in this establishment. I, along with a few Unilocal friends requested for him to set up a PYE here. He pulled a few strings and made it happen for us in a month’s time. What an awesome fella! Everything I imagined it to be, KHD exceeded my expectations. I knew the wait was long but I didn’t realize what a huge crowd there would be waiting outside to get seated. Luckily, our party didn’t have to wait, or at least that’s what I heard. I came in 45 minutes late(I know, I know, my bad, Chris!) which was to my advantage with the grill already hot and cooking some meat. I only missed the brisket but they made sure I had a whole plate to myself in the end. I feel the love! Thanks! It was hard to keep up with all the types of meat, side dishes, and off-menu items served to our table. Not to mention the free flowing beer and soju to keep us wanting more food. A few noteworthy items to mention though would be the cheese and egg as well as cheese and corn that’s cooked on the grill. I really liked those! Their scrumptious japchae noodles was served piping hot from the kitchen which I think is the best I’ve had just yet. A popular item not to be missed would be their boxed kimchi fried rice. It’s delicious but the draw is more on watching the servers shake everything inside the box to make this. As for the meats, the brisket, shortrib, marinated meat, and heck even the beef tartare that was served with Asian pear were all outstanding. You’d think we’re done, bill was paid and all but two plates of cooked pork belly topped with bell peppers and onions were dished out for us to indulge in. A taste was all I could manage as I was already way too full. It was delish! Service was to say the least, remarkable. Thank you for spoiling us, KHD! Chris, you’re such a great host, thanks for everything. It’s always fun hanging out with the Unilocal crew, although missing a few who couldn’t make it. Can’t wait for the next one! =)

I’ve already reviewed this restaurant with 4 stars, but a Chris C. event deserves no less than 5! You haven’t been yet? Sucks for you! Lol. If you’re invited by the famous«Seoul brother» to a UYE, you better try your best to show or you’re missing out! This time it was at one of my fave KBBQ restaurants so you know I wouldn’t miss it. I brought the hub to join in the after Thanksgiving festivities. Party was full of food and booze and I wouldn’t expect any less from Chris, always the gracious host! We had great food from on and off the menu. Since Chris knows most of the people running Kang Hodong, we were treated to off menu items that are normally reserved for only their best regulars. Thanks Chris! Can’t wait for the next one!

NOONE throws a UYE like Chris C. It’s a pity if you don’t know him really because it goes WITHOUTSAYING he is «THEBOMB.COM». My Seoul Brother from another mother is ZZZ-BEST and getting Unilocal peeps together for a GOODTIME! I first met Chris as I was about to cross the street to my First Unilocal Christmas Par-ta! We were waiting for the light to turn green so we could get that little neon«walking» man on the sign so we could cross. It was that olé look and stare, I think I know you but I’m not sure situation. Then it hit us. He remember me as that Unilocaler that was liking ALL his food pics and I remembered him as that Unilocaler chill-axin on Rondald’s lap. Hahah! And the rest is history. He has thrown several UYE’s that for some reason or another I have always had plans. Its sucks but FINALLY I was able to RSVP for this event which was PERFECT! We all met up here and like a true«Dork Extraordinaire» I got there and was waiting outside instead of going inside and looking around. Doh! Chris was AWESOME and sent us all his mobile number so I sent him a text and he came out to retrieve me from my dunce bench. We sit and a few peeps are already there… Q, Grace and her hubby, Tom and Steve come in a few minutes later, Jennifer and Marissa and Steve’s wife, another Grace, Irene, Miala, Isai, Trina, and last but not least Mr FAN-TABULOUS himself Chris C. I’m sorry I know I’m forgetting some peeps. We occupied the two back section of tables. I had a couple shots of suju, which went to my head QUICK and before I knew it the food started flowing like Niagara Falls and was coming out my eyes. OMG! It was Thanksgiving Korean style. I don’t even know everything I ate but I give you a few MUST try things as well as some AHHH-MAZING off menu items we were privy to try. Let me just say EVERYTHINGWASONPOINT even if I can’t remember the name. Check out the pics they might help you identify something. Haha! Kimchi fried rice but it wasn’t fried — shaken in a box and served! SOFRICKINDELISH Brisket — TENDER Marinated Short Rib — DELISH Prime Short Rib — SLAPYOMOMMAGOOD Pork Belly Rice noodles with veggies Salad — Dressing was so yummy Veggies Some kind of pancake thingy — YUMMY Bean sprout & green onion garnish Different sauces I generally don’t like my meat rare and blinking at me from the plate but I had to try the beef tartar with Asian noodles. Such I SUPERB cut of meat almost NOFATATALL! SUPERDELISH and YUM, YUM, YUMMY! OMG raw meat is BOMB and I didn’t get sick ATALL! I’ll still probably have my porter house cooked medium well but that tartar was ONPOINT! Tom and I was toasting to food, travel, new friends, because we are alive, and toasting just to be toasting with suju. Hahah! I had to cut myself off so I could drive home. There was also beer and water too and some other food I can’t remember. Like I said it was Korean Thanksgiving and it was BOMB! Everyone that works there SUPERNICE and accommodating and went over and beyond in serving us and making sure we were taken care of. SOMUCHFRICKENFUN! Thanks to Chris and all the staff for making this ZZZZ-BESTUYE experience EVA!

When Chris C invites you to one of his«Shindig», just say YES! This is one of the best PYE(private Unilocal event) I’ve been to. This is not an AYCEKBBQ place, but it turned into a feast. I’m not exaggerating. I dinned here less than a month ago and it was one of the best dinning experience I’ve had. Tonight’s meal exceeded that by a factor of 100. The item we were getting mostly«not on the menu» was ridiculously GOOD! Here’s the rundown: The regular item we got were the Brisket, Prime Short Rib and Marinated Short Rib. All were of superb quality and the taste was DELICIOUS. Lunch Box — kimchi fried rice without being fried. Lol. The best kimchi rice ever. Get this for sure. You get a show with this dish as well. They will shake the«lunch box» to mix the rice, kimchi and egg in front of you. Yum! Now, I have to apologize. I’m usually good at getting the name of the items I write about, but that won’t be the case in this review. We got a slew of items from the kitchen(Gratis) 3 or 4 items I have pictures of, but I could not tell you what they were. All I can tell you is, they were all very tasty and delicious. Aside from the 3 or 4 I could not Identify, we got more: Beef Tartare served Asian Pear. Raw beef and raw egg mixed together, OMG. that was so so GOOD! The Asian pear paired perfectly with the tartare. If this was on the menu, I’d definitely get it. Yum! Pork Belly — this dish came out after we were all done. Food was still coming out. Yes!(oh, don’t worry, we ate it too. lol). This was amazing. It was topped with onions and bell pepper. The pork belly alone was good by itself. With the toppings, this dish got elevated even more. Service was exceptional! They did all the cooking. All our request was handled immediately. Our waiter was super friendly. The head meat cutter also came out, that was truly a treat.(He was the one sending out free food to us) A plus all the way around. The company, it’s always a pleasure to dine with my fellow Unilocalers. Irene Y, Marissa S, Jennifer N, Ryan P, Maila H, Quoc H, Trina D, Grace C. & Tom N, it was nice to finally meet you. Chris C, you are the man! Special thanks to you for organizing this event! Thank you for scheduling it at 5pm to accommodate my wife, that was truly appreciated. Remember when Chris invites you, Say Yes! Kang Ho Dong is the best KBBQ bar none! Rating 5 Star Plus + Come try the difference and decide for yourself =)
